In this work, the spinnging process of tussah silk/cellulose blend fiber using ionic liquids as solvent has been studied and the optimum spinning parameters were obtained from the orthogonal test. The structures morphology and properties of blend fibers were investigated through mechanical properties, SEM and FTIR. The result showed that break strength was 1.4124cN/dtex and break elongation was 9.803% in the condition of the optimum spinning parameters.

Clay mineral materials have attracted attention due to their many properties and applications. The applications of clay minerals are closely linked to their structure and composition. In this paper, we studied the electronic structure properties of kaolinite, muscovite, and montmorillonite crystals, which are classified as clay minerals, by using DFT-based ab initio packages VASP and the OLCAO. The aim of this work is to have a deep understanding of clay mineral materials, including electronic structure, bond strength, mechanical properties, and optical properties. It is worth mentioning that understanding these properties may help continually result in new and innovative clay products in several applications, such as in pharmaceutical applications using kaolinite for their potential in cancer treatment, muscovite used as insulators in electrical appliances, and engineering applications that use montmorillonite as a sealant. In addition, our results show that the role played by hydrogen bonds in O-H bonds has an impact on the hydration in these crystals. Based on calculated total bond order density, it is concluded that kaolinite is slightly more cohesive than montmorillonite, which is consistent with the calculated mechanical properties.

This topic is considered to modify the fast-growing Poplar to improve the properties, in order to fully meet the performance requirements for the structural material. This study aims to improve the dimensional stability and some other mechanical properties through impregnated with the low-molecular-weight PF resin. Through design orthogonal test in different mole ratio of Formaldehyde and Phenol, different amount of NaOH and PVA, we make PF resin to impregnate Poplar and pressing into laminated timber to measure bonding strength, MOR, MOE. The study indicated that: the optimum conditions of the low molecular weight PF resin for modify Poplar are: mole ratio of Formaldehyde and Phenol is 2.4, mole ratio of NaOH and phenol is 0.05, amount of PVA is 3% of the phenol. Under this condition Poplar specimen got the biggest increase in various properties and it can satisfy the requirements of the outdoor wood structure.

Thermoelectrochemical cells are a promising new technology for harvesting low-grade waste heat. The operation of these cells relies on a redox couple within an electrolyte, which is most commonly water-based, and improvement of these materials is a key aspect of the advancement of this technology. Here, we report the gelation of aqueous electrolytes containing the K3Fe(CN)6/K4Fe(CN)6 redox couple using a range of different polymers, including polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Cmc), polyacrylamide (PAAm), and two commercial polyurethane-based polymers: HydroMed D640 and HydroSlip C. These polymers produce quasi-solid-state electrolytes with sufficient mechanical properties to prevent leakage, and allow improved device flexibility and safety. Furthermore, the incorporation of various ionic liquids within the optimized hydrogel network is investigated as a route to enhance the electrochemical and mechanical properties and thermal energy harvesting performance of the hydrogels.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber from waste plastic bottles is an environmentally friendly fiber that can improve the mechanical properties of wet-mix shotcrete. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the effects of PET fiber parameters on pumpability, shootability, and mechanical properties of wet-mix shotcrete. For this purpose, the orthogonal test based on three factors and three levels was conducted. The width, length, and content of PET fiber were selected as the experimental variables. The tests of wet-mix shotcrete reinforced by PET fibers were carried out, along with properties tests such as slump, pressure drop, build-up thickness, compressive strength, and splitting strength. The results showed the change trend of shotcrete performances with increasing PET fiber parameters (width, length, and content). According to the orthogonal test, PET fiber parameters were determined (1 mm width, 20 mm length, and 5 kg/m3 content). Furthermore, relationships between slump and pumpability and shootability were explored, as well as the relationships between pumpability, shootability, and mechanical properties. It was found that pressure drop and compressive strength had the strongest negative linear relationship among all fitting relationships. We hoped that this study could contribute the useful information for the application of wet-mix shotcrete mixed with PET fibers.

Aluminum and aluminum alloy were widely used in various industrial fields, the key to application is the reliable welding. In this thesis,LF21 aluminum alloy brazing materials were designed and prepared by Orthogonal experiment, and mechanical properties of the brazing specimen was tested. Based on the GRNN(Generalized Regression Neural Network),Nonlinear relationship modle of brazing material preparation parameters and mechanical properties of the weldment was established. The results show that the model has better stability. When smooth factor value is 0.1,the network approximation error and prediction error absolute value is 0.01%.It can be realized that an nonliner mapping between the aluminum alloy brazing preparation parameters and solder joint tensil strenth based on the Orthogonal test and can do better prediction of the weld mechanical properties, according to brazing material preparation parameters.
