The Non-Equidistant New Information GRM(1,1) and its Application

For the problem of lower precision as well as lower adaptability in non-equidistant GM(1,1) model, applying the new information principle, modeling method of Grey system and accumulated generating operation of reciprocal number, a non-equidistant new information GRM(1,1) model generated by accumulated generating operation of reciprocal number was put forward which was taken the nth component as the initialization. Based on index characteristic of grey model and the definition of integral, the background value in non-equidistant GRM(1,1) was researched and the discrete function with non-homogeneous exponential law was used to fit the accumulated sequence and optimum formula was given. The formula of background value of new information GRM(1,1) model can be used in non-equal interval & equal interval time series and has the characteristic of high precision as well as high adaptability. Example validates the practicability and reliability of the proposed model.

Applying the reciprocal accumulated generating and the constructing background value of non-equidistant sequence of GRM(1,1) model based on fitting the first accumulated generating sequence with non-homogeneous exponential law for the problem of lower precision as well as lower adaptability in non-equidistant GM(1,1) model, the calculation formulas were deduced and a non-equidistant GRM(1,1) model generated by reciprocal accumulated was put forward. The grey GRM(1,1) model can be used in non-equidistant interval & equidistant interval time series and has the characteristic of high precision as well as high adaptability. Example validates the practicability and reliability of the proposed model.

According to the new information priority principle of grey system, this paper tries to optimize the traditional multivariate grey prediction model. Firstly, the basic theory of the traditional grey prediction model is put forward. Based on this, the background value is improved by using the new information priority principle, and the cumulative generation with parameters is defined. Taking the settlement trend of A4# building of an engineering project in Anhui province as an example, the model is applied to the settlement analysis, and the proposed model is compared with the existing grey prediction model, the average percentage absolute error between the predicted value and the observed value is calculated, and the regression graphs of each model are drawn. Through the analysis, we can see that the established model has achieved a good effect, and then verified the practicability and reliability of the proposed model.

Healthcare systems have evolved to become more patient-centric. Many efforts have been made to transform paper-based patient data to automated medical information by developing electronic healthcare records (EHRs). Several international EHRs standards have been enabling healthcare interoperability and communication among a wide variety of medical centres. It is a dual-model methodology which comprises a reference information model and an archetype model. The archetype is responsible for the definition of clinical concepts which has limitations in terms of supporting complex reasoning and knowledge discovery requirements. The objective of this article is to propose a semantic-mediation architecture to support semantic interoperability among healthcare organizations. It provides an intermediate semantic layer to exploit clinical information based on richer ontological representations to create a “model of meaning” for enabling semantic mediation. The proposed model also provides secure mechanisms to allow interoperable sharing of patient data between healthcare organizations.

It is only within the last ten years that research on treatment for central nervous system (CNS) recovery after injury has become more focused on the complexities involved in promoting recovery from brain injury when the CNS is viewed as an integrated and dynamic system. There have been major advances in research in recovery over the last decade, including new information on the mechanics and genetics of metabolism and chemical activity, the definition of excitotoxic effects and the discovery that the brain itself secretes complex proteins, peptides and hormones which are capable of directly stimulating the repair of damaged neurons or blocking some of the degenerative processes caused by the injury cascade. Many of these agents, plus other nontoxic naturally occurring substances, are being tested as treatment for brain injury. Further work is needed to determine appropriate combinations of treatments and optimum times of administration with respect to the time course of the CNS disorder. In order to understand the mechanisms that mediate traumatic brain injury and repair, there must be a merging of findings from neurochemical studies with data from intensive behavioral testing.

A global model of mechanical transmissions is introduced which deals with most of the possible interactions between gears, shafts, and hydrodynamic journal bearings. A specific element for wide-faced gears with nonlinear time-varying mesh stiffness and tooth shape deviations is combined with shaft finite elements, whereas the bearing contributions are introduced based on the direct solution of Reynolds' equation. Because of the large bearing clearances, particular attention has been paid to the definition of the degrees-of-freedom and their datum. Solutions are derived by combining a time step integration scheme, a Newton–Raphson method, and a normal contact algorithm in such a way that the contact conditions in the bearings and on the gear teeth are simultaneously dealt with. A series of comparisons with the experimental results obtained on a test rig are given which prove that the proposed model is sound. Finally, a number of results are presented which show that parameters often discarded in global models such as the location of the oil inlet area, the oil temperature in the bearings, the clearance/elastic couplings interactions, etc. can be influential on static and dynamic tooth loading.

Sue’s proposed model is based on a critique of the Eurocentric assumptions underlying current clinical practice and reflects his innovative thinking and unique synthesis of past research. The specific areas addressed in this article focus on an examination of the multidimensional model of cultural competence (MDCC) and issues related to the definition of competence and its measurement. Areas of needed elaboration in the model include complexities related to power hierarchies (i.e., authority, authorization, and leadership) and implications for training and practice. Particular emphasis is placed on the complexities of cultural competence and the important contributions of Sue’s MDCC as an important step in making cultural competence a reality in the practice of counseling psychology.

A system of multiple degrees of freedom composed out of three masses and three springs has been presented in 2008 for analyzing rockfall impacts on protective structures covered by a cushion layer. The model has then been used for a blind prediction of a large-scale test carried out in Sapporo, Japan, in November 2009. The test results showed substantial deviations from the blind predictions, which led to a deeper evaluation of the model input parameters showing a significant influence of the modeling properties for the cushion layer on the overall results. The cushion properties include also assumptions for the loading geometry and the definition of the parameters can be challenging. This paper introduces the test setup and the selected parameters in the proposed model for the blind prediction. After comparison with the test results, adjustments in the input parameters in order to match the test results have been evaluated. Conclusions for the application of the model as well as for further model improvements are drawn.

The aim of this article is to complement and refine Ellen Prince’s well-known taxonomy of given/new information (Prince 1981, 1992), which distinguishes between discourse-related and assumed familiarity-related newness/givenness. What we suggest is that a new category should be added to the existing hearer new, hearer old, and inferrable information categories, so as to include cases where the informational status of an entity or a propositional content cannot be determined with certainty. We call this new category ‘the (hearer) indeterminables’, and we justify its existence through a case study on nonrestrictive, relevance-oriented constructions (appositive relative clauses, non-restrictive pre-modifiers, apposition). We also argue that it is possible for speakers/writers to simulate informational statuses for politeness considerations, and that such simulation should be included in the definition of assumed familiarity.

Thesis: Aim of the paper is to present Melanie Klein and Charles S. Peirce concept of symbol in order to combine them into scheme that presents conscious and unconscious aspect of thinking through symbolic signs (signs based on convention). Presented concepts: Paper presents concept of symbol in psychoanalytical and semiotic perspective. Psychoanalytical view is based on interpretation of symbol according to object relation paradigm proposed by Klein. There are two reasons for selecting her theory for the model: it is most closely bound with interdependency between communication and thinking plus her concept of proper symbol fulfills definition of symbolic sign in Peirce theory, due to deployment of matter of absence in substitution process. Peirce theory however is selected to present semiotic perspective not only for its good linkage to Klein’s “proper symbol” but also for its accurate understating of object representation in quasi- mind through Representamen and as a result recognition of symbol embedment in code through unlimited semiosis. Chosen concepts are consolidated into psycho-semiotic model of thinking which recognizes symbol to be co-created by unique internal world of unconscious phantasy with simultaneous employment of semiotic devices oriented to external, group order perspective. Results and conclusions: Proposed psycho-semiotic model of thinking enhances psychoanalytic view, based on drive for object, by recognizing communication means required for meaningful relation and with that for thinking itself. As a result conceptualizing thinking processes is enriched with semiotic discoveries such as mechanics and structure of Representamen and Interpretant, along with indispensable code rules, with unlimited semiosis at its core. In turn psychoanalytical view adds to semiotic perspective sensitivity to individual potential and constrains when code is in use and with that raises precision of exploration in the field. Contribution to the field: Proposed model enriches theory of thinking based on object relations with semiotic sign theory, which being focused on communication serves as a frame for establishing object relations and their conceptualization. In turn employing psychoanalytic perspective into semiotic field brings back code theory to actual code usage, and by that expands it to various unconscious forces, which ultimately determine Interpretant
