Because of the special traffic environment, the tunnel is called a bottleneck on the highway sections; there is a huge risk of safe operation. Tunnel interior zone lighting plays an important role in the tunnel; good lighting can eliminate depression and driving fatigue of the driver in the tunnel. In this paper, freeway tunnel interior zone lighting is as the research object. We analyzed the driver's demand for freeway tunnel interior zone lighting and transformed illumination to luminance in the model of driver workload, operating speed and the illumination. And this model is established by our group. According to comfortable and relatively comfortable driving workload intense threshold, we can get the safe and comfortable luminance threshold of tunnel interior zone. This paper proposed a detection and evaluation method in freeway tunnel interior zone luminance, and the method have been applied and verified on one freeway in south China.

Ensuring the safe operation of pipeline and monitoring it to prevent sudden accidents are an important task of current nondestructive testing work because of our country is in the peak period of long-distance pipeline construction. Welding cracks are common and most dangerous flaw in the root of the failure of the welded joints . Metal magnetic memory method is the only viable detection , evaluation method currently used for diagnosing the stress-strain state of serving welding crack in the early stages. So this article designs weld cracks of the general pipeline, establish a method to detect pipeline weld crack by metal magnetic memory method.

Maintaining the high visual recognizability of traffic signs for traffic safety is a key matter for road network management. Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) systems provide efficient way of 3D measurement over large-scale traffic environment. This paper presents a quantitative visual recognizability evaluation method for traffic signs in large-scale traffic environment based on traffic recognition theory and MLS 3D point clouds. We first propose the Visibility Evaluation Model (VEM) to quantitatively describe the visibility of traffic sign from any given viewpoint, then we proposed the concept of visual recognizability field and Traffic Sign Visual Recognizability Evaluation Model (TSVREM) to measure the visual recognizability of a traffic sign. Finally, we present an automatic TSVREM calculation algorithm for MLS 3D point clouds. Experimental results on real MLS 3D point clouds show that the proposed method is feasible and efficient.

This paper describes an experiment conducted to establish a workload model by employing physiological methods to measure driver workload and fatigue under real working conditions. Experienced healthy metro drivers were selected as subjects; they performed normal schedules during which simultaneous electrocardiogram (ECG) recording was used to assess their levels of fatigue. Then, subjective workload assessment and reaction time tests were conducted during each break interval to monitor the drivers’ physiological and psychological performance. Based on task analysis, driving workload models with time weight parameters of four types of tasks were established and the workload real-time changes during different shifts were evaluated. The results demonstrate that workload tends to increase over time and it is significantly higher during manual driving mode than autonomous mode ( p = 0.015 < 0.05). Driving fatigue occurs earlier in the night shift than in the day shift according to ECG spectrum analysis results. Although the results of reaction time tests show no significance ( p = 0.917 > 0.05), the increase in the number of reaction errors after fatigue driving indicates a reduction in drivers’ cognitive ability. Regression analysis shows a significant regression relationship with a mutual incentive effect between workload and fatigue in three shifts ( R2 > 0.4). These will be used as a future reference for fatigue research and to help develop reasonable schedules to ensure operational safety.

Power plant relay protection setting value of the hidden harm causes of relay protection device is not correct, safe and stable operation of the power plant. In this paper, from the angle of the safe operation of power plant, the hidden danger to plant with the protection setting is studied and then the risk evaluation method of power plant relay protection setting values of hidden trouble is proposed. From the power plant relay protection setting value considering two aspects of probability and consequences of potential outbreak of different values, value potential risk is considered, and of a certain power plant in Hubei was made the risk assessment and analysis, in order to verify the theoretical rationality and accuracy.

Considering the corrosion degree of reinforcement, the chloride penetration resistance of concrete and chloride concentration distribution in concrete, a health evaluation method for durability of harbor engineering was established by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Analysis of a harbor in South China demonstrates that the health indicator for durability condition of existing structures can be effectively used to quantitatively health evaluation for durability of practical engineering.

Variation of driver workload degree on freeway was analyzed in order to research safe and comfort of alignment and provide a new technical support for humanization road design. A total of 12 healthy adult drivers heart rate variability index and operating speed are tested on 77 sections of one mountainous freeway. According to the change law of different drivers workload degree on different alignment conditions,4 sections cant meet the expectations of the truck drivers safe and comfort. In addition, accident data is used to verify the dangerous sections. Research results can be applied to design road alignment that meets the driving expectations of different drivers.
