A better understanding of an individual’s smartphone use can help researchers to improve methods for early detection, evaluation, and intervention of anxiety disorders. For this reason, we present an exploratory study of behavioral markers extracted from smartphone data. We examine fine-grained behaviors before and after smartphone communication events across social anxiety levels. To discover behavioral markers, we model the smartphone as a linear dynamical system with the accelerometer data as output. In a two-week study of 52 college students, we find substantially different behavioral markers prior to and after outgoing phone calls when comparing individuals with high and low social anxiety.

Environmental change poses a devastating risk to human and environmental health. Rapid assessment of water conditions is necessary for monitoring, evaluating, and addressing this global health danger. Sentinels or biological monitors can be deployed in the field using minimal resources to detect water quality changes in real time, quickly and cheaply. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are ideal sentinels for detecting environmental changes due to their biomedical tool kit, widespread geographic distribution, and well-characterized phenotypic responses to environmental disturbances. Here, we demonstrate the utility of zebrafish sentinels by characterizing phenotypic differences in wild zebrafish between two field sites in India. Site 1 was a rural environment with flowing water, low-hypoxic conditions, minimal human-made debris, and high iron and lead concentrations. Site 2 was an urban environment with still water, hypoxic conditions, plastic pollution, and high arsenic, iron, and chromium concentrations. We found that zebrafish from Site 2 were smaller, more cohesive, and less active than Site 1 fish. We also found sexually dimorphic body shapes within the Site 2, but not the Site 1, population. Advancing zebrafish sentinel research and development will enable rapid detection, evaluation, and response to emerging global health threats.

With the continuous evolution of the Internet, as well as the development of the Internet of Things, smart terminals, cloud platforms, and social platforms, botnets showing the characteristics of platform diversification, communication concealment, and control intelligence. This survey analyzes and compares the most important efforts in the botnet detection area in recent years. It studies the mechanism characteristics of botnet architecture, life cycle, and command and control channel and provides a classification of botnet detection techniques. It focuses on the application of advanced technologies such as deep learning, complex network, swarm intelligence, moving target defense (MTD), and software-defined network (SDN) for botnet detection. From the four dimensions of service, intelligence, collaboration, and assistant, a common bot detection evaluation system (CBDES) is proposed, which defines a new global capability measurement standard. Combing with expert scores and objective weights, this survey proposes quantitative evaluation and gives a visual representation for typical detection methods. Finally, the challenges and future trends in the field of botnet detection are summarized.

Hexacopter belongs to one of flying robots that is used to carry out a special mission such as retrieving and delivering survival kits object. Thus, it should be built by smart system to determine the object accurately. However, there was an interference from other object that made it difficult to recognize the survival kits object. Therefore, the development of machine vision with the integration of the hexacopter control system is expected to improve the object recognition process. This study intends to develop a survival kit detection using the image processing method, which involved 1) segmentation on the Hue, Saturation, Value (HSV) color space, 2) contour detection, and 3) Region of Interest (ROI) selected detection. The evaluation of the segmentation method performances was done through the three-part experiments (i.e., the similar shape, variety of a color object, and an object shape). The result of survival kits object detection evaluation obtained an accuracy of 90.33%, precision of 99.63%, and recall of 91.24%. According to the performances obtained in this study, the development of machine vision systems on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has a high accuracy for the object survival kits detection even with another object interference.

Pharmacovigilance encompasses the detection, evaluation, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. Knowledge of real and independent pharmacovigilance data is essential because clinical trials with medicinal products are limited and do not reveal all adverse effects of a product. The spontaneous notification system is one of the main tools used in pharmacovigilance. However, important remaining challenges for health professionals are the accurate recognition of adverse drug reactions and reporting routinely and systematically during their work. Once low notification rates make it harder to detect and monitor potential safety issues, it is needed risk assessment, and regulatory actions to safeguard patient safety. The objective of this study is to present the challenges of pharmacovigilance in Brazil. The implementation of computerized active search tools significantly improves the identification of possible adverse drug effects. Effective pharmacovigilance is crucial to ensure the safety and integrity of healthcare systems, to avoid lengthy hospital stays and to optimize healthcare spending. However, pharmacovigilance tools remain underused, undervalued, or even unknown in Brazil.
