Oily sludge is a mixture of oil and sludge, produced during the process of crude oil production and gathering, contains crude oil, heavy metal and organic toxic and harmful substances, and with the characteristics of high moisture content, poor liquidity and big volume. The recycling and disposal of it has been one of the most important aspects of enviromrntal protection in oil industry. In this paper the origin nature and hazards of oil sludge were described, the existing oily sludge treatment process from the aspects of quenched separation, heat treatment, extraction, biological treatment were introduced, and looks forward to the development of the oil sludge treatment technology.

The process of oil extraction and processing produces large quantities of oily sludge, which is complex and unwieldy. It has become the main pollution factor of affecting oil production. So it is necessary to look for a reasonable treatment technology of oily sludge .This document introduces different sludge treatment methods and technological process, highlights the pyrolysis principle and test methods, and looking forward to the development of oily sludge treatment process.

: A large amount of sludge produced in the processing of crude oil has brought great harm. In this paper, common flocculants are summarized. According to the treatment process of crude oil, flocculants are divided into organic flocculants, inorganic flocculants, microbial flocculants, composite flocculants, and magnetic flocculants. The mechanism and limitation of each flocculation on crude oil sludge were analyzed. Finally, it is pointed out that the flocculation process of sludge is complex, and the development of new flocculant with high efficiency, safety, and economy is the main trend of flocculant development in the future.

A large number of waste oil and sludge were generated during mining and processing. Untreated Sludge directly discharged into environment will lead to critical human health harm and serious environment pollution. As one of the petrochemical process major pollutants, treatment of oil sludge processing, at home and abroad, has been trying to study. Summary of development status and prospect research of oil sludge treatment technology, combining characteristics of the oily sludge, in domestic and foreign were made in this article.

Significance Colombia's oil industry has been a success story, with crude oil production running at close to 1 million barrels per day (b/d) and playing an important part in the country's economy. However, that very success and its positive economic impact is now creating real challenges for the country, following the precipitate fall in the global oil price. Impacts As the transition to peace reduces pipeline vulnerability, infrastructure investment may increase. Improved refining capacity will reduce Colombia's reliance on diesel and petrol imports, and may enable higher-value exports. An extended period of low oil prices could encourage more diversification and investment in other sectors.

With the rapid implementation of polymer flooding in Bohai oil field, the produced liquid includes large amount of polymer-containing oily sludge reversed increases year by year. The polymer-containing oily sludge accumulates at the terminal processing plant, which not only obviously degrades the performance of sewage treatment instruments and blocks the oil/water separators, but also has a bad impact on environment. Using thermal chemical treatment technology with dynamical separating agent and optimizing separation conditions, the completed processing technology is obtained as follow: thermal chemical reaction, separation on standing, crude oil recovery and recycling of waste water. The recovery rate of crude oil from the samples treatment is over 94%. The obtained technology plays an important role in recycling of source, environment protection and technical support of increasing produced liquid.


Oily sludge produced in the refineries contains various harmful contaminants and difficult to analyse Treatment of Petroleum Sludge is a major problem all over the world. More strict regulations are being imposed, which preservere the treatment technologies capable to deal with the hazardous pollutants. The inadvisable disposal of oil sludge leads to hazardous, due to the presence of high concentration of harmful substances. This paper presents critical review on the production, characterization, toxicity and biological treatment of petroleum sludge reported in various studies. Compared to usage and production of petroleum and oil based products, the pace of knowledge acquisition on treatment of petroleum and oil sludge is slower despite the availability of numerous treatment and remediation options. Also, the differences in performance of treatment methods and results reported from various literatures have been addressed to pave a way for a customized treatment solution to oil sludge contamination. There is a need to identify a cost effective solution through which toxic pollutants in the sludge is treated effectively with a potential to reuse as manure for cultivation of crops.

Due to the composition of crude oil and partly due to the change of environment conditions, colloidal asphaltene in crude oil production, storage and transportation, post-treatment process prone to precipitation phenomenon, bring great influence of crude oil production and processing. This article analyzed from the aspects of reservoir, oil production, storage and transportation, etc the effects of colloid asphalt, the asphalt deposition analyses the influence factors, in view of the colloidal asphaltene harm, put forward the methods and measures to improve colloid asphalt influence.
