This paper conducts surveys on the design, construction and use of the ICF system, a new type of low-energy and industrialized house that has emerged in Guanzhong rural area of China in recent years. The survey content includes family background, house layout design, construction and cost, details and energy consumption simulation, temperature test etc. The paper summarizes the reasons for the popularity of the ICF system and the issues that need attention in future promotions. Construction optimization is also proposed for thermal bridge at the window opening, so that this new system can exert a more comprehensive energy-saving performance.

We describe a new type of radio navigation and tracking system which, unlike conventional systems, does not depend on a costly infrastructure of coherent radio transmitters. This new system measures positions using spatial, rather than temporal, coherence and can therefore use any existing radio transmitters set up for any purpose. We describe the principles of operation, applications and present results obtained with a demonstration unit (in Cambridge) which can measure the position of a motor vehicle to a precision of about 5 m using local medium-wave public broadcast transmitters.

Abstract Scheduling is the daily work of the Ministry of Education in Colleges and universities. In the past ten years, the scale of our colleges and universities has expanded rapidly, but the teaching resources are relatively limited. Many schools are facing the problem of insufficient classroom resources and teachers resources. The current way of organizing courses is increasingly difficult to make full use of existing resources to solve the changing needs and inefficiencies, which need to be improved urgently. This paper applies the hybrid Genetic-Ant algorithm to the automatic course scheduling system in Colleges and universities, and uses the cross-function to design and build the automatic course scheduling system in Colleges and universities. And select a college’s course scheduling system from this city for research, and use the Genetic-Ant hybrid algorithm to improve the original system to form a new system, called the original system A, and called the improved new system B, to compare the operation time and system suitability of the two systems. The results show that the fitness of system B is better than that of system A. When the scheduling unit is 100, the fitness of system A is 181, and system B is 203. When the scheduling unit is 400, the fitness of system B is 14 higher than that of system A. When the scheduling unit is 800, the fitness of system B is 64 higher than that of system A. Thus, the hybrid algorithm of genetic ant colony can improve the rationality of the curriculum.

AbstractA plea bargaining system is a novelty and originally a legal transplant in Northern European countries. It exists—in some form—for instance in Finland, Norway and Denmark, whereas in Sweden only the system of crown witnesses is likely to be introduced. In this chapter plea bargaining is put into the East-Nordic—Finnish and Swedish—contexts. How does plea bargaining fit into the East-Nordic court culture? Which ingredients does the contemporary legal culture consist of? In which way is court culture changing due to the new values in the society? Or are the amendments made primarily to reduce the costs of the state? Fairness, procedural justice, conflict resolution, negotiated law, pragmatically acceptable compromise, procedural truth, court service, communication and interaction are examples of the topics that are currently discussed in Finland and Sweden. At the same time, the use of written proceedings and proceedings in the absence of an accused are increasing. Is the plea bargaining system a step towards a more effective and economic criminal procedural system or is it mirroring new type of thinking concerning criminal proceedings? In this chapter, these elements are discussed. Finland is used as a main example. The Finnish situation is also compared with Sweden.

In an effort to find an online-automated electronic resource management system that provides licensing, acquisitions, and statistical information easily, Columbia College of South Carolina journeyed into the world of open source and vender-based applications. During this journey, dead ends and roadblocks paved the way. To encompass all the identified requirements of the online-automated system, a new system needed to be designed.

During the process of new-type urbanization, industrial enterprises, as they move to the vast rural areas, have also brought pollution there. Rural eco-governance tackles not only the damage to natural resources and environment, industrial pollution, agricultural non-point source pollution and pollution caused by poultry and livestock raising, but also the aggravation of rural living environment. At present, governments at all levels usually focus solely on urban environment building and eco-governance in rural areas, as a result, is rarely aware of, insufficient in capital input, weak in technical and institutional support. To improve rural eco-governance substantially, governments at all levels should attach equal importance to rural and new urban ecological development and take effective measures in the following aspects: (1) improving top-level design and reinforce the leading position of the green development concept; (2) increasing capital input and improve rural eco-governance facilities; (3) making technological innovations and integration to support rural eco-governance; and (4) creating new governance mechanisms to enhance rural eco-governance.

Rural revitalization calls for a new type of urban–rural relations in urbanizing China. Although the importance of urban–rural dichotomy has received increasing attention by scholars interested in studying urban development and governance in contemporary China, their interpretations about the connection between urban and rural areas remain fragmented and ambiguous. This article seeks to trace the origin of the Chinese city and its relations with the countryside in the imperial era. It generates a more complete understanding of the rural–urban relationship in the traditional Chinese society and to appeal for a more rounded research agenda for the Chinese urbanization based on a sound historical perspective. The findings of this study explain why and how the traditional urban–rural continuum has disappeared in contemporary China, and identifies the key lessons and wisdoms that we can borrow from the imperial era when we come to tackle the present urban–rural development.

Abstract The use of constructed wetlands as a wastewater treatment system is a feasible solution for rural areas. However, these systems do not efficiently eliminate pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, it is necessary to implement disinfection systems such as ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems in constructed wetlands. To evaluate the behavior of a UV system, a pilot system of artificial wetlands connected to one such disinfection system was operated. The results show that when the total suspended solids (TSS) of the influent (already treated by the system of constructed wetlands) reached values of 26.7 mg/L, a reduction of 2.03 uLog in fecal coliforms was obtained. However, when the TSS increased to 34.7 mg/L, the reduction was only 0.33 uLog. In addition to the influence of the TSS on the fecal coliform reduction efficiency, there is a direct relationship between the transmittance and the sizes of the particles present in the influent. After UV treatment, the microorganisms showed a peak in photoreactivation of 27.8% at 4 h after irradiation with visible radiation, while under conditions of darkness, no reactivation was observed.

The large-span space beam string-structure system is a kind of economic and larger spanning spatial structure system. A new type of space beam-string-structure with outer truss torus is introduced. Sunflower-patterned space beam-string-structure was taken as an example and its dynamic characteristics under full-span load and half-span load were analyzed by block Lanczos method. The efect of prestress level and load level on dynamic behavior of the structure was studied. The results are valuable for the dynamic response research on the earthquakes and wind vibration and will provide a reference for a further design and project application of such structure.
