The transport and magnetic properties of cation-substituted manganese sulphides CexMn1-ХS in the 4K - 450K temperature range in magnetic fields up to 90 kOe are studied. The hysteresis of curve magnetization for X=0.01 and nonlinear field behavior of the magnetization at X = 0.05, the sharp Curie temperature drop were found. The sharp maximum in the temperature dependence of resistivity was observed. The shift of the maximum temperature to low temperatures at cerium ion concentration increasing and in magnetic field was established. Model of orbital polaron for explanation of experimental datа was used.

Ni54Mn21-xFexGa25(x=0,1,3,5,7,9)polycrystalline alloys were prepared by the technique of directional solidification and the effect of substituting Fe for Mn on the martensitic transformation and mechanical properties of the alloys was analyzed. It was found that the Curie temperature increased with increasing substitution while the martensitic transformation temperature decreased. The Fe-doped Ni54Mn21Ga25 alloys exhibit excellent magnetic properties at room temperature; the typical Ni54Mn20Fe1Ga25 alloy shows a large magnetic-induced-strain of -1040 ppm at a magnetic field of 4000 Oe.

ABSTRACTSputter etching effect on magnetic properties was investigated in TaOx/TbFeCo/Ag layered films. With sputter etching, smooth interfaces of about lnm roughness were obtained. In films with smooth interfaces, magnetization was stabilized and magnetization reversal was sharpened at around the Curie temperature. As a result, recorded marks were stabilized, and the media became sensitive to the magnetic field for writing. 49dB was obtained as C/N even at 0.45μm mark length, which is sufficient for digital recording.

The magnetic properties of Ca x La 1 - x MnO 3 perovskites with x = 0.6 and x = 0.8 were studied in a large temperature range. A transition from mictomagnetic to antiferromagnetic state is evidenced at low temperatures for the samples with high lanthanum content. As the calcium content increases an essential antiferromagnetic behaviour is shown. The valences states of Mn ions were determined. The interactions inside the magnetic sublattices dominate those between the two sublattices as evidenced by the positive paramagnetic Curie temperature.

The paper presents selected magnetic properties of the Gd1-xTbxNi3 intermetallic compounds. Based on the wide-ranging SQUID magnetometer (Quantum Design MPMS, temperature from 1.9K to 300K and magnetic field up to 7T) series of different magnetic measurements were carried out. In studied system the saturation magnetization and the Curie temperature strongly depends of Tb concentration. Moreover, the so-called field cooling - zero field cooling (FC-ZFC) curves reveal a dependence of M(T) on the applied magnetic field. The thermomagnetic curves indicate interesting behaviour which is typical for terbium compounds and can be ascribed to the interaction between different aligned magnetic subblattices.

β-Cu3Fe4(VO4)6 single crystals were synthesized. The X-ray, magnetic, Mössbauer, and EPR investigations of the crystals were fulfilled. It is established that single-crystal β-Cu3Fe4(VO4)6 is a spin glass at low temperatures. Freezing temperature varies considerably depending on the orientation of the magnetic field relative to the crystal axes. Spin-glass state is confirmed by the relaxation of the magnetization.

One-dimensional dilute systems with nearest neighbor interactions are studied in terms of power series of the concentration of magnetic atoms. Recurrence relations between coefficients of the power series of the Ising systems are obtained. The Ising systems of S = 1/2 are studied. The specific heats, the susceptibilities, and the magnetizations of the ferro magnets and antiferromagnets are obtained. At low temperatures, three steps in the magnetization of antiferromagnetic systems are found. An Ising system of S = 1/2 with nearest and second nearest neighbor interactions is also studied by extending the method, and the specific heats are obtained when the magnetic field is zero.

The magnetic properties of the (Fe0.53Nd0.37Al0.10)96B4bulk amorphous alloys annealed in the temperature range of 293-623K for 30 min with and without an external pulsed magnetic field of 5T were studied. The results reveal that the remanence and coercivity of the samples are obviously improved with a pulsed magnetic field when annealed below the Curie temperature of the alloy. The increment of remanence reaches 25.9% for the sample annealed at 523K with a pulsed magnetic field, because of the enhancement of exchange coupling roles between the soft and hard magnetic phases. It provides a new way to improve the magnetic properties of the bulk amorphous alloys produced by pulsed magnetic annealing at temperatures below the Curie point of the alloys.
