The bertha armyworm, Mamestra configurata Walker, is a major pest of canola in western Canada. In 1994, 1995, and 1996 more than 670 000, 650 000, and 250 000 ha of canola were sprayed for bertha armyworm, respectively (Anonymous 1994, 1995, 1996). Despite the current trend towards increased acreage of canola production in western Canada, canola acreages declined markedly in 1996 from that planted in 1995 (Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food Statistical Facts 1996) in part because of the perception by farmers of the impact of bertha armyworm outbreaks in 1994 and 1995. Much research has been carried out in western Canada on the bertha armyworm with the aim of developing an integrated pest management program which includes the understanding of its biological control agents. Turnock (1984) reported that the native parasitoid complex of larval M. configurata consists of five species of Hymenoptera and 10 species of Diptera. Only two of these, namely Banchus flavescens Cresson (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) and Athrycia cinerea (Coquillett) (Diptera: Tachinidae), have large negative impacts on its populations (Wylie and Bucher 1977).

Sementara beberapa dampak negatif penggunaan media sosial yang perlu diantisipasi berupa konsentrasi karyawan yang berkurang sehingga dapat menyebabkan keterlambatan pada penyelesaian pekerjaanThe use of social social media has penetrated into all lines of life services, including at government offices. Social media are used to support the implementation of programs and activities in government offices, which then have an impact on the performance of individuals in it. This studyaims to identify empirically the impact of the use of social media on the performance of individuals in Agriculture and Food Office, Magelang. This research uses descriptive analysis method. Data is collected by filling in questionnaires and interviewing with 40 (forty) officer in the Agriculture andFood Office. Research shows that the application of social media has a positive impact on improving the performance of individuals in Agriculture and Food Office, namely as a medium of communication (coordination) and a place to share information actually. While some negative impacts that need to be anticipated include reducing the concentration that can cause delay incompletion of work.

AbstractBanchus flavescens Cresson is the most abundant hymenopterous parasitoid of the bertha armyworm, Mamestra configurata Walker, in western Canada. The females attack 1st, 2nd, and 3rd instars of the host. The speed of parasitoid development is adjusted so that the 2nd instar is completed when the host finishes feeding. Banchus flavescens has an obligate diapause and overwinters as a prepupa within a cocoon in the soil. Notes on life history and descriptions of the egg and 5 larval instars of B. flavescens are given.

The bertha armyworm, Mamestra configurata Wlk., is a periodic pest of rape in western Canada. After a massive outbreak of the species during 1971 and 1972, investigations on the insect were intensified in many laboratories. A technique for rearing the larvae on a semi-defined diet was developed by our Winnipeg-based group and has been used successfully to rear 21 consecutive generations of M. configurata in the laboratory (Bucher and Bracken 1976). Our current culture originated from a few pupae field-collected in Alberta and has been carried through 21 generations without addition of new stock.

Mericia ampelus (Wlk.) was one of seven species of insect parasite reared from larvae of bertha armyworm, Mamestra configurata Wlk., that were collected in August 1972. At that time large populations of the host species were damaging plants of rape, Brassica spp., in numerous localities in western Canada (Wylie and Bucher 1977). As M. ampelus had not been reared before from M. configurata, studies were made in 1973–75 to determine the parasite's distribution and abundance, to obtain information on its biology and behaviour, and to assess its impact on populations of M. configurata.

Offering credit is the main activity of a Bank. There are some considerations when a bank offers credit, that includes Interest Rates, Inflation, and NPL. This study aims to find out the impact of Variable Interest Rates, Inflation variables and NPL variables on credit disbursed. The object in this study is state-owned banks. The method of analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression models. The results of the study have shown that Interest Rates and NPL gave some negative impacts on the given credit. Meanwhile, Inflation variable does not have a significant effect on credit given. Keywords: Interest Rate, Inflation, NPL, offered Credit.

Greenhouse horticulture is one of the most intensive agricultural systems, with the advantages of environmental parameter control (temperature, light, etc.), higher efficiency of resource utilization (water, fertilizers, etc.) and the use of advanced technologies (hydroponics, automation, etc.) for higher productivity, earliness, stability of production and better quality. On the other hand, climate change and the application of high inputs without suitable management could have negative impacts on the expansion of the greenhouse horticulture sector. This special issue gathers twelve papers: three reviews and nine of original research. There is one review that focuses on irrigation of greenhouse crops, while a second surveys the effects of biochar on container substrate properties and plant growth. A third review examines the impact of light quality on plant–microbe interactions, especially non-phototrophic organisms. The research papers report both the use of new technologies as well as advanced cultivation practices. In particular, new technologies are presented such as dye-sensitized solar cells for the glass cover of a greenhouse, automation for water and nitrogen deficit stress detection in soilless tomato crops based on spectral indices, light-emitting diode (LED) lighting and gibberellic acid supplementation on potted ornamentals, the integration of brewery wastewater treatment through anaerobic digestion with substrate-based soilless agriculture, and application of diatomaceous earth as a silica supplement on potted ornamentals. Research studies about cultivation practices are presented comparing different systems (organic-conventional, aeroponic-nutrient film technique (NFT)-substrate culture), quantitative criteria for determining the quality of grafted seedlings, and of wild species as alternative crops for cultivation.

Previous research into the relationship between income inequality and turnout inequality has produced mixed results, as consensus is lacking whether inequality reduces turnout for all income groups, low-income earners, or no one. Therefore, this paper builds on this literature by introducing supply-side logic, through the first individual-level test of the impact that income inequality (moderated by policy manifesto positions) has on turnout. It does so through multilevel logistic regressions utilizing mixed effects, on a sample of 30 advanced democracies in 102 elections from 1996 to 2016. It finds that higher levels of income inequality significantly reduce turnout and widen the turnout gap between rich and poor. However, it also finds that when party systems are more polarized, low-income earners are mobilized the greatest extent coupled with higher inequality, resulting in a significantly reduced income gap in turnout. The findings magnify the negative impacts income inequality can exert on political behavior and contribute to the study of policy offerings as a key moderating mechanism in the relationship.
