Entrepreneurship is gaining recognition as an important way of attaining a sustainable competitive advantage and positive financial returns. This article compares the entrepreneurial intensity (EI) of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies with that of listed JSE companies (excluding ICT listings). A cross-section telephone survey was conducted. The findings suggest that ICT companies are more entrepreneurial than JSE companies. Additionally, the size of a company shows no relation to EI, but age is negatively correlated to EI. By implication, the older the company, the less entrepreneurial it becomes. The findings suggest that organisational factorsinfluence EI and that EI is industry specific. The managerial implication for companies that want to become more entrepreneurial is that they should create organisational conditions conducive to the development of corporate entrepreneurship.

The banner ordering system used in Warna Print is still done conventionally. For example, in recording orders, making order invoices to taking orders and transaction reports, they still rely on recording on notes. This of course can cause loss or damage to the order data and sales transactions. With the design of this application will be able to help expedite the transaction process on Color Print. The design of this application uses the Netbeans IDE with the Java programming language and the MySQL database program. This application has guaranteed security, because only owners and employees who have a username and password can access this application. In addition, the error rate in recording orders is very small, because each customer receives a different transaction number, so as to minimize errors on the transaction report.

Abstract On analysing a sample of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firms, we ask whether domestic business groups that are engaged in international cooperation for innovation are likely to cooperate for innovation in the home market. We compare these companies with other types of ICT firms. The idea behind our inquiry is that domestic groups involved in international cooperation for innovation are exposed to international information, while they are also well embedded in the home economy. We find that these companies as well as foreign subsidiaries are more prone to cooperating for innovation with domestic partners than are other types of ICT companies, even when size and other characteristics of firms that may influence cooperation are taken into consideration. However, domestic groups with international cooperation for innovation show a systematically higher propensity than foreign subsidiaries to cooperate with domestic partners. These results may be useful regarding policies of foreign direct investment promotion and their alternatives.
