Recently, Higher Order Thinking Skills is a new issues in Indonesia, because the government was inserted HOTS question into national exam in order to develop Indonesian education. One of the problem occuring that  the students are not familiar to the question given, as the result, the student confuse and complait about it.. Thereby, the need to the assessment instrument that could help teacher and students to challenge it is the must. This study aimed to describe the use of G-form as a assessment instrument in arabic language teaching based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), to ascertain availability of g-form features as an assessment instrument in arabic language teaching based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), and to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of it. The research used a library research. The data was taken by interview the arabic teacher that use gmail as a test instrument in arabic language teaching based on HOTS, by reading books, national as well as international journals, and other references related to this discussion, and small experiment of g-form made. The result of this study claim that g-form can be used as an assessment instrument in Arabic language teaching based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The second are, although it has many advantages, in the other side, the disadvantages were found as well

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using exercises based on higher-order thinking skills in teaching reading. The type of this research was quantitative using a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test. The research samples were forty students from all students at the third level of Arabic Language Education Department at the State Islamic University of Tulungagung. Data analysis was carried out using the statistical program SPSS 22 with paired sample T-Test and N-Gain Score. The results of this study indicated the following: (1) the higher-order thinking skills applied in Arabic reading exercises included the analysis level, evaluation and creativity in the formats of multiple choice, essay, true and false, pairing, completion, and work questions; (2) The results showed that there was a difference between the results of the pre-test and post-test with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.00; T-count was lower than than T-table; and the N-Gain Score value was of 0.61. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the exercise was at a moderately effective level. The finding of this research demonstrated that the exercises based on higher-order thinking skills were effective in improving students’ thinking skills in teaching Arabic reading.

The purpose of this research is to survey the reaction of Malay Language teachers in normal primary schools towards the application of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) from the aspect of execution of HOTS in essay writing, confidence in delivery, difficulties experienced during delivery, the level used during delivery and the steps taken to overcome said problems after the teaching process of essay writing. Two male and female teachers teaching at a school in the district of Petaling Jaya were involved as participants in this research. This research was carried out using qualitative methods i.e. the case study and findings were elicit through conversation. Using conversation, the findings of the research show that the main method used by the participants in the application of HOTS were I-Think maps, Question & Answer (Q&A) sessions and high level difficulty questions. Meanwhile, the least used methods were brainstorming and project-based discussions. The participants of the research also displayed high level confidence in the usage of HOTS, but some problems did arise caused by varied intelligence of the students in a certain class causing some disturbance. The problem could be overcame by diversifying methods in delivering HOTS during teaching essay writing. Through this research also, it is found that the teachers use different standards between weak and excellent students, depending on the level of maturity in thinking. This research is significant in order to increase the application of higher order thinking skills in teaching Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) level essays by Bahasa Melayu teachers.

Teaching Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) has its own challenges and need to be emphasized in the curriculum as it is one of the skills of the 21st century. HOTS is among six main characteristics of students who aspire Ministry of Education to succeed globally. However, studies on the effectiveness of the module KBAT in science subjects still not carried out. Hence, the purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching modules based on higher order thinking skills in science subjects in primary schools. The first phase of this study is to identify the needs of teachers of science on higher-order thinking skills module. The needs analysis also aims to determine the need and willingness of teachers to KBAT module in the teaching of science in primary schools. The initial analysis is carried out based on the protocol requirements interview involving 6 teachers teaching science subjects in six primary schools. The results showed that the willingness of teachers in the implementation and knowledge is minimal. Teachers are also not mastered the skills to integrate elements of higher order thinking skills in science teaching. Students facing dificulties to understand the questions as well as the teachers to develop high-level questions are identified problems faced by teachers. The interview data also shows teachers need simple guidance material or HOTS module to use for teaching and learning in the classroom.

Higher order thinking skill is one of the important components for an individual to be able to solve new problems in the 21th century. In the revised Bloom’s taxonomy, HOTS is defined as an incision among the three top levels of ability in the cognitive dimension (analyzing, evaluating, creating), and 3 levels of knowledge dimension (conceptual, procedural, metacognitive). The aim of the present case study was to investigate pre-service English teachers’ perception on Higher Order Thinking Skills in English language teaching. A total of 15 pre-service English teachers in a university in Indonesia participated in this study. The research used questionnaire to collect the data. Data were analyzed using interpretative approach. The result showed that the pre-service English teachers have their perspective about higher order thinking skills by themselves. They are aware towards Higher Order Thinking Skills in English language teaching. They are involving some activities to encourage students in thinking skill. They believed that every student is capable to think critically.

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effects of Project-Based Learning development in social studies to improve students’ higher-order thinking skills in the fifth grade, from Al Mursyidiyyah Islamic primary school in Kota Tangerang Selatan. The method used in this research is the research and development (R&D) and quasi-experimental method. Research and development (R&D) is used to develop Project Based Learning to improve students’ higher-order thinking skills in the fifth grade of Islamic primary school. The quasi-experimental method is used to find the difference of students' higher-order thinking skills improvement using project-based learning models in social studies against students who get learning with conventional learning models. Data collection techniques in this study used to test and observation instruments. Thus, this study finds that project-based learning in social studies improves students’ higher-order thinking skills. The novelty of this research is the development of project-based learning in social studies can improve the higher-order thinking skills of Islamic Primary School students.   AbstrakTujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Project Based Learning terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam pembelajaran IPS pada siswa kelas V Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Mursyidiyyah Kota Tangerang Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dan metode kuasi eksperimen. Metode R&D digunakan untuk mengembangkan project based learning dalam IPS untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dan metode kuasi eksperimen digunakan untuk mengetahui perbandingan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS yang menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-posttest Design dimana kelompok eksperimen maupun kelompok kontrol tidak dipilih secara random. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes dan pengamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasisis proyek dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Novelti penelitian ini adalah pengembangan pembelajaran berbasisis proyek dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. பேராக் மாநிலத்தில் தைப்பிங் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள ஓர் இடைநிலைப்பள்ளியில் திருக்குறள் கற்றலின் வழி படிவம் 2 மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்தும் முயற்சியில் ஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட 10 மாணவர்கள் இந்த ஆய்வில் உட்படுத்தப்பட்டனர். திருக்குறளில் மாணவர்களின் ஆளுமையைக் கண்டறிய அந்த இடைநிலைப்பள்ளியின் தமிழாசிரியரிடம் நேர்காணல் நடத்தப்பட்டது. மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த படிவம் 1 மற்றும் படிவம் 2-இல் வரையறுக்கப்பட்ட ஆறு திருக்குறள்கள் தேர்தெடுக்கப்பட்டன. தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட திருக்குறள்கள் யாவும் சீரமைக்கப்பட்ட புளூமின் அறிவுசார் முறைப்பாட்டியலின் துணைக்கொண்டு பலதரப்பட கேள்விகள் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. ஆறு வாரத் திருக்குறள் வகுப்பிற்குப் பின் இக்கேள்விகள் யாவும் மாணவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டன. கேள்விக்கான பதில்களிலிருந்து மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனில் ஏற்பட்ட மாற்றங்கள் கண்டறியப்பட்டது. ஆய்வின் முடிவாக, முறையான திருக்குறள் கற்றலின் வழி மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த முடியும் என்பது உறுதிச் செய்யப்பட்டது. (This study has been conducted with the purpose of improving the level of HOTS (Higher order thinking skills) of Form 2 students through learning Thirukkural. For this study, the Thirukkural, a well-known literary work of Tamil Language was taken. Thus, this research was carried out in a secondary school which is located at Taiping, Perak. The research was carried out under the design of action research. The sample of this study consisted of ten Form 2 students. Besides that, a teacher also interviewed in order to know the students' personality in learning Thirukkural. In this research, the learning process of Thirukkural approach was implemented for 6 weeks. There are 6 couplets of Thirukkural selected according to the syllabus of Form 1 and Form 2. This six couplets of Thirukkural used to test the level of HOTS. The questions were created based on Thirukkural, according to Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The data of the study was collected through pre-test, the questions asked in Thirukkural classes and post-test via qualitative and quantitative data collection tools. The findings obtained through qualitative and quantitative data collections showed that the level of HOTS through learning Thirukkural among Form 2 students has improved.)
