This research is studying about one of the most important skills in the Arabic language that is hoped to be acquired by Malaysian students, either in secondary or university level. The aim of teaching essay writing at these two stages is to enable students to express a topic in writing in a good manner and in an organized manner of various kinds according to the correct rules of the Arabic language. It is noticeable that non-Arabic speaking students, especially Malaysian students, despite their mastery of grammatical and morphological rules, still fall into stylistic errors resulting from their lack of understanding of the ‘ibarāt al rābitah (conjunctive phrases), their connotations and their functions in structural writing. Based on all of the foregoing, this research deals with theories related to the concept of stylistic errors and the concept of style and its elements, especially in the field of teaching Arabic as a second language. The research followed the descriptive and analytical method and was limited to analysing the ‘ibarāt al rābitah (conjunctive phrases) in the modern Arabic language and analysing their meanings, functions, and uses in structural writing. The research has reached many results, the most important of which is ‘ibarāt al rābitah (conjunctive phrases) as one of the most important elements of the Arabic language style that is hoped to be provided to Malaysian students, especially in the secondary and university degree stage, to control the stylistically sound structural writing. The research also stated some recommendations to facilitate the teaching and application of ‘ibarāt al rābitah (conjunctive phrases) at the secondary and university levels.

This research is about critical discourse analysis using Teun A. Van Dijk's theory specialized in the discussion of the text section. Analyzing the discourse on Egyptian-Jordanian plans to control the large number of Hamas decision-makers, Van Dijk sees that the text consists of several structures/levels, which support each other. He divided it into three levels. First, the overall structure, second, the superstructure, and third, the microstructure. This type of research is qualitative research using the method of documentation and descriptive analysis of the content of the news text. In the documentation process, the researcher obtained the data from the news website alarab.co.uk. This study aims to determine the results of Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis on the news text. The object of this study is the online news media in Arabic, alarab.co.uk, while the subject of this research is the discourse of the state of the many faces of the Hamas organization that controls decision-making. This analysis was performed on macro-structure (themes), superstructure (layouts), micro-structure (semantics: background, detail, intent, assumptions), micro-structure (structure: sentence form, coherence, and pronouns), and micro-structure (style: lexicon ), the precise structure (rhetorical: graphic, metaphor, expression) in Arabic discourse.

This research aims to describe and classify the language used by Arab Embong Community in their daily life.  Language and society always influence each other. The development of language is also along with the development of society. Therefore the study of sociolinguistics as a scientific discipline in which studying language in relation to society is always interesting. The problem in this study is the language used by Embong Arab Community which is an immigrant Arab Community in Malang. This was a field research with a qualitative descriptive method which was investigated using the Diglossia theory. The methods of data collection were observation and interview. The results of this research indicated that the Embong Arab community used three languages, namely Fusha and Amiyah Arabic, Indonesian and Javanese. The three languages were used interchangeably according to the purpose of communication. Fusha Arabic, as the official and unifying language among Arabs, was rarely spoken. They preferred to choose Amiyah Arabic to communicate as a non-standard language variety. However, their Amiyah language was different from the Yemeni Arabs in general. This was due to their long-standing interactions with the local population. The unique thing was that even though they were of Arab descent, due to their high level of interactions with the local population, they often used non-formal Indonesian and Javanese Ngoko in their daily lives. So there were two varieties of diglossia in Embong Arab Community, namely high level language consisting of Fusha Arabic and formal Indonesian and low level language consisting of Amiyah Arabic, non-formal Indonesian and Javanese Ngoko).
