A curvillinear regression resulted when the Feulgen-DNA test scores were plotted against the average concentration of leucocytes. Application of a logarithmic transformation to the average test data resulted in a linear correlation which slightly raised the correlation between the Feulgen-DNA Test and the leucocyte count. But, the application of a sample per cow transformation to the average test data from each of 30 representative cows, resulted in an approximate linear relationship and in significant correlations between the Feulgen, California, and Whiteside tests and the leucocyte count. Correlations in descending order were Feulgen> California> Modified Whiteside Test with respect to the leucocyte count.

Abstract. Test validation based on usual statistical analyses is paradoxical, as, from a falsificationist perspective, they do not test that test data are ordinal measurements, and, from the ethical perspective, they do not justify the use of test scores. This paper (i) proposes some basic definitions, where measurement is a special case of scientific explanation; starting from the examples of memory accuracy and suicidality as scored by two widely used clinical tests/questionnaires. Moreover, it shows (ii) how to elicit the logic of the observable test events underlying the test scores, and (iii) how the measurability of the target theoretical quantities – memory accuracy and suicidality – can and should be tested at the respondent scale as opposed to the scale of aggregates of respondents. (iv) Criterion-related validity is revisited to stress that invoking the explanative power of test data should draw attention on counterexamples instead of statistical summarization. (v) Finally, it is argued that the justification of the use of test scores in specific settings should be part of the test validation task, because, as tests specialists, psychologists are responsible for proposing their tests for social uses.

A novel method for the spectrophotometric determination of isoniazid by silicomoly- bdenum blue has been established. The various effect factors on the spectrophotometric determination of isoniazid by silicomolybdenum blue were investigated in detail. The results showed that under certain reaction conditions, silicomolybdenum yellow could be reduced to silicomolybdenum blue by isoniazid, and the content of isoniazid was determinated indirectly through determinating the absorbance of the silicomolybdenum blue. The maximum absorption wavelength of chromogenic system is 740 nm, good linear relationship is obtained between the absorbance and the concentration of isoniazid in the range of 1.968~27.55 μg/mL,and the equation of the linear regression is A=0.0247+61.824ρ (μg/mL) with a linear correlation coefficient is 0.9995.This proposed method has been successfully applied to determinate of isoniazid in isoniazid tablets, and the results agree well with those obtained by pharmacopoeial method.

A novel method for the indirect determination of methimazole by spectrophotometry using phenanthroline-Fe(Ⅱ) has been established. The results showed that in acid medium, Fe(Ш) could be reduced to Fe(Ⅱ) by hydrosulfuryl(-SH) in methimazole molecule, and then using phenanthroline as chromogenic reagent of Fe(Ⅱ), and the content of methimazole was determinated indirectly through determinating the content of Fe(Ⅱ) by spectrophotometry. The various effect factors on the determination of methimazole by spectrophotometry using phenanthroline-Fe(Ⅱ) were investigated in detail. The maximum absorption wavelength of chromogenic system was 509 nm, good linear relationship was obtained between the absorbance and the concentration of methimazole in the range of 0.0016~0.0064 mg/mL,the equation of the linear regression was A = 0.1942 + 64.598ρ (mg•mL-1),with a linear correlation coefficient was 0.9995.This proposed method had been applied to determinate of methimazole in real pharmaceutical, and the results agreed well with those obtained by pharmacopoeial method.

We have measured the coefficient of viscosity B at 25 °C of HCl, LiCl, NaCl, KCl, RbCl, KI, and KBr in the mixtures of aqueous organic solvents containing from 10 to 40% tert-butyl alcohol by weight (X), the concentration of electrolyte varying from 0.1 to 0.3 M.Plots of B = f (x) show points of inflexion and minima whose positions can be explained by the structural properties of the mixed solvent. In water, a linear relationship between the entropy of hydration and coefficient B of the ions is observed. In the same way, it can be shown that a linear correlation exists between the entropy of solvation and coefficient B of the electrolytes for all the mixtures studied. These correlations lead to the characterization of two distinct zones (X < 20% and X > 20%) for the range of tert-butyl alcohol–water mixtures. In the alkaline medium of pH=9.18, Cu2+ can be reduced to Cu+ by the sulfhydryl (-SH) of cysteine, and it result in the decrease the amount of Cu2+ in the system. The decrement of Cu2+ is directly proportional to the addition of cysteine, then using bis-cyclohexanone oxalyldihydrazone (BCO) as chromogenic reagent for Cu2+ to determinate the content of cysteine indirectly by discoloration spectrophotometry. A new method for the determination of cysteine by discoloration spectrophotometry using Copper(II)-BCO has been established. The influencing factors of the determination of cysteine is investigated. The results show that the maximum absorption wavelength of chromogenic system was 602 nm, in the range of 0.008000~0.06800 mg/mL, the linear relationship between the decrease of absorbance and the mass concentration of methimazol is A=0.2162+2.4824C (mg/mL), and the linear correlation coefficient is r=0.9959. The method has been applied to the determination of cysteine in food, and the results are basically consistent with those determined by pharmacopoeial method.

AbstractPurposeWe are currently in the middle of a global crisis. Covid19 pandemic has suddenly threatened the existence of human life. Till date, as no medicine or vaccine is discovered, the best way to fight against this pandemic is prevention. The impact of different environmental, social, economic and health parameters is unknown and under research. It is important to identify the factors which can weaken the virus, and the nations which are more vulnerable to this virus.Materials and MethodsData of weather, vaccination trends, life expectancy, lung disease, number of infected people in the pre-lockdown and post-lockdown period of highly infected nations are collected. These are extracted from authentic online resources and published reports. Analysis is done to find the possible impact of each parameter on CoVid19.ResultsCoVid19 has no linear correlation with any of the selected parameters, though few parameters have depicted non-linear relationship in the graphs. Further investigations have shown better result for some parameters. A combination of the parameters results in a better correlation with infection rate.ConclusionsThough depending on the study outcome, the impact of CoVid19 in India can be predicted, the required lockdown period cannot be calculated due to data limitation.

Empirically a linear correlation is established between the average polarisability of the nonspherical molecules CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and the molecular electric fieldgradient qzz at the chlorine nuclei as determined by “pure quadrupole spectroscopy”. As a consequence of this, a linear relationship between the raman-active vcC-Cl(π)A1 frequency and the “pure quadrupole resonance frequency” of these molecules is also found. In the case of ideal sphere-like molecules, for theoretical reasons, a linear relationship between the molecular electric field gradient and the inverse of the polarisability is proposed. The validity of this correlation is checked in the series of the compounds CCl4, SiCl4, GeCl4 and SnCl4. From the results obtained it is concluded that the correlations put forward are strongly dependent upon the molecular shape.

Several assumptions such as normality, linear relationship, and homoscedasticity are frequently required in parametric statistical analysis methods. Data collected from the clinical situation or experiments often violate these assumptions. Variable transformation provides an opportunity to make data available for parametric statistical analysis without statistical errors. The purpose of variable transformation to enable parametric statistical analysis and its final goal is a perfect interpretation of the result with transformed variables. Variable transformation usually changes the original characteristics and nature of units of variables. Back-transformation is crucial for the interpretation of the estimated results. This article introduces general concepts about variable transformation, mainly focused on logarithmic transformation. Back-transformation and other important considerations are also described herein.
