The education and development of university teachers have its justifcation and its importance is signifcant not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. This study provides an analysis of further professional education of university teachers in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries. Subsequently, it presents an international project with participants from the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland, which, ultimately, plays a role in the improvement of the quality of higher education.

<p>This paper presents the findings of a study based on students’ response to participating in an international project. This international project was a collaboration between Pakistan, the UK and Norway. Collaborative teaching techniques of using literature circles within each class and google circles across the three contexts (online) were used. Twelve participating students from Pakistan were interviewed to explore their reactions to the international study. Students felt that they learnt new things from the use of these innovative methods, were able to learn from foreigners and felt a sense of connectivity to their groups. It is recommended that students from Pakistan be given such exposure to overcome their hesitation. It is recommended that further research be carried out in other contexts as well to determine if the use of such teaching pedagogies can benefit other teachers of literature.</p>

The aim of this paper is to establish an international framework for sustainable project management in engineering, to make up the lack of research in this field, and to propose a scientific theoretical basis for the establishment of a new project management system. The article adopts literature review, mathematical programming algorithm and case study as the research method. The literature review applied the visual clustering research method and analyzed the results of 21-year research in this field. As a result, the project management system was found to have defects and deficiencies. A mathematical model was established to analyze the composition and elements of the optimized international project management system. The case study research selected large bridges for analysis and verified the superiority and practicability of the theoretical system. Thus, the goal of sustainable development of bridges was achieved. The value of this re-search lies in establishing a comprehensive international project management system model; truly integrating sustainable development with project management; providing new research frames and management models to promote the sustainable development of the construction industry.

To promote the development of structural health monitoring around the world, the 1st International Project Competition for Structural Health Monitoring (IPC-SHM, 2020) was initiated and organized in 2020 by the Asia-Pacific Network of Centers for Research in Smart Structures Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and four leading companies in the application of structural health monitoring technology. The goal of this competition was to attract more young scholars to engage in the study of structural health monitoring, encouraging them to provide creative and effective solutions for full-scale applications. Recognizing the recent advent and importance of artificial intelligence in structural health monitoring, three competition projects were set up with the data from full-scale bridges: (1) image-based identification of fatigue cracks in bridge girders, (2) data anomaly detection for structural health monitoring, and (3) condition assessment of stay cables using cable tension data. Three corresponding data sets were released at http://www.schm.org.cn and http://sstl.cee.illinois.edu/ipc-shm2020 . Participants were required to be full-time undergraduate students, M.S. students, Ph.D. students, or young scholars within 3 years after obtaining their Ph.D. Both individual and teams (each team had no more than five individuals) could compete. Submissions for the competition included a 10- to 15-page technical paper, a 10-min presentation video with PowerPoint slides, and commented code. The organizing committee then conducted the validation, review, and evaluation. A total of 330 participants in 112 teams from 70 universities and institutions in 12 countries registered for the competition, resulting in 75 papers from 56 teams from 57 different affiliations finally being submitted. Of those submitted, 31, 30, and 14 papers were for Projects 1, 2, and 3, respectively. After completion of the review by the organization committee and awards committee, the top 10, 10, and 5 teams were selected as the prize winners for the three competition projects.
