Summary Background: In 2007, we initiated a health information management (HIM) track of our biomedical informatics graduate program, and subsequent ongoing program assessment revealed a confluence of topics and courses within HIM and clinical informatics (CI) tracks. We completed a thorough comparative analysis of competencies derived from AMIA, AHIMA, and CAHIIM. Coupled with the need to streamline course offerings, the process, described in this paper allowed new opportunities for faculty collaboration, resulted in the creation of a model assessment for best practice in courses, and led to new avenues of growth within the program. Objective: The objective of the case study is to provide others in the informatics educational community with a model for analysis of curriculum in order to improve quality of student learning. Methods: We describe a case study where an academic informatics program realigned its course offerings to better reflect the HIM of today, and prepare for challenges of the future. Visionary leadership, intra-departmental self-analysis and alignment of the curriculum through defined mapping process reduced overlap within the CI and HIM tracks. Teaching within courses was optimized through the work of core faculty collaboration. Results: The analysis of curriculum resulted in reduction of overlap within course curriculum. This allowed for additional and new course content to be added to existing courses. Conclusions: Leadership fostered an environment where top-down as well as bottom-up collaborative assessment activities resulted in a model to consolidate learning and reduce unnecessary duplication within courses. A focus on curriculum integration, emphasis on course alignment and strategic consolidation of course content raised the quality of informatics education provided to students. Faculty synergy was an essential component of this redesign process. Continuous quality improvement strategy included an ongoing alignment of curriculum and competencies through a comparative analysis approach. Through these efforts, new innovation was possible. Eight New York nursing homes, 4 open and 4 closed, were chosen at random for analysis. They were examined to determine if a relationship between age of assets, fiscal viability and quality of care existed. Three years of data for each nursing home was selected Several financial variables were used to construct a fiscal viability index; and a patient care index was created from selected measures that are used to measure specific aspects of institutional care. The premise was that the constructed indices will demonstrate a significant difference between closed nursing homes and homes remaining open. The analysis found that fiscal viability index could be a significant factor to differentiate the two groups of nursing homes, but the quality index showed no significant difference between the two groups.

Using Latgale region as a case study, this paper explores the influence of the quality of spatial planning to territorial development. The paper analyses measurement of quality of development planning document and interrelationship between quality of development planning documents and indicators of territorial development. Research object – influence of development planning of Latgale region on territorial development.Research subject – quality of development planning documents of Latgale local municipalities in the context of territorial development.Research methods – deductive and inductive methods, comparative analysis, correlation analysis, etc.

The purpose of the study was to do a comparative analysis of the quality of the case study method for developing practical skills related to environmentally friendly behavior that is in line with the professional orientations of two student groups of different non-environmental specialties. Research methods included an ascertaining and forming experiment; questionnaires with open and closed questions; project modeling; collection and mathematical and statistical evaluation of empirical data; graphic methods of statistical data processing; comparative analysis of the findings; functional analysis of empirical data; analysis of causal relationships; and generalization and forecasting. According to the results of secondary diagnostics that involved the distribution of students by zones of success, revealed a significant increase in indicators of activity-behavioral aspects of professionally oriented environmental education. In Group I, 3.1% of students were in the area of undesirable indicators, and in Group II, it was 4.0%. The neutral area with confused tendencies was occupied by 33.8% of students of Group I, and 20.3% of Group II. The targeted area of clearly positive dynamics involved 63.1% of Group I, and of Group II, 75.7%. Further enquiry into the research issue should relate to enhancing the case study method in the framework of environmental education.

Leachate is a liquid generated by mixing of water with organic and inorganic material found in landfills. This liquid accumulates at the bottom of the landfill and has the potential to percolate through the soil to enter groundwater or other water bodies. Leachate contains various contaminants and toxins that can significantly diminish the quality of water it enters, which can become hazardous to humans and the environment. In this article, the water quality of two towns: Egg Harbor and Middle Township, New Jersey were analyzed and compared. Egg Harbor Township has a landfill located within the town, while the closest landfill to Middle Township is approximately 10 miles away. Water supply for both towns comes from the same aquifer, known as the Kirkwood-Cohansey water table system. The water quality results from community wells within Egg Harbor Township were compared to those of Middle Township. Water quality data for this study is from New Jersey American Water database. Based on the results, the water quality of Egg Harbor Township varies significantly from Middle Township. The levels of contaminants in Egg Harbor Township are much higher compared to Middle Township. Therefore, it can be concluded that communities near landfills, even well monitored and managed ones, are prone to have poorer water quality than those farther away from the landfill.

Telkomsel Call Center Office is the call center service office for 24 hours which is facilitated by the telecommunications operator service companies Telkomsel in order to optimize the quality of service to its customers. Service optimisation is certainly influenced by internal company both in terms of the work system as well as where its taken place. One case study is taken, i.e. Telkomsel Call Center Office in Gedung Infomedia Nusantara -Bandung. Interior design on this Office has not applied optimally where affect the satisfaction of workers, mainly call center agents. This often raises the boredom on the agents whom do their work repeatedly to serve the consumers who don't rarely give them complaints or criticism. Using a research method of qualitative descriptive (comparative analysis of the condition in existing interior design with the theory of psychological space (five aspects which can form a good workplace design)), it is evident that Telkomsel Call Center Office interior design is not applied optimally to support satisfaction of workers in order to optimize its performance.

Abstract The topic of this article is a comparative analysis of parliamentary scrutiny of the quality of legislation contained in bills in the British system and in Continental Europe (with a special focus on Italy as case study). The main difference between the two systems is due to the establishment, especially in Continental Europe, of specific parliamentary tools, standards, or bodies to scrutinize the quality of legislation. The hypothesis underpinning the article is that this is the result of the different approaches used to draft bills in the two systems. The British model of legislative drafting has shown its strength: clearly, it is better having a legislative product which is well-drafted upstream, instead of a scrutiny downstream. However, in the United Kingdom, there is currently a debate concerning the opportunity to strengthen parliamentary scrutiny of the quality of legislation by establishing legislative standards and bodies (such as a Legislative Standards Committee) for this purpose. The article will describe the Continental system of parliamentary scrutiny of the quality of legislation and then focus on the British debate. This will help to draw some conclusions, asking whether Continental Europe’s model of parliamentary scrutiny could be of any value for the United Kingdom.
