In this study, chitosan-polyaniline/Fe3O4 nanocomposite material (CS-PANI/Fe3O4) was prepared by means of in-situ emulsion polymerization method. The synthesized material was then utilized as an adsorbent for the removal of Reactive blue 198 (RB198) from a single and binary dye system. The effects of pH, contact time, and initial dye concentration on the removal efficiency of the adsorbent were systematically investigated. The obtained results indicated that the adsorption ability toward RB198 of the prepared adsorbent decreased with an increase in the initial dye concentration and pH media. Meanwhile, the removal percentage of dye increased with increasing contact time. Importantly, approximately 92.4% RB198 was removed for an adsorption time of 120 min in single dye system. Adsorption experiment using a binary system of dyes indicated that the removal percentages of RB198 were 72.8% and 94.7% in the RB198-RR198 and RB198-CY mixture, respectively.

Adsorption of Pb2+by  using a mix of bentonite and water hyacinth has been carried out in a  bacth system. The purpose of the research is to investigate  the abilty of  the mix bentonite and water hyacinth to adsorp Pb2+. Prior to adsorption process, the mix of bentonite and water hyacnth was activated physcally by H2SO4. The adsorption ability between activated-adsorbend and without activated-adsorbend was then compared. In the activaved process, the mix of bentonite and water hyacinth used was 4 gram in weight  and 120 ml of H2SO4 1,2 M. In this research, adsorption time of 30, 60, 120 menit, the speed of 50, 100, 150 rpm and the Pb2+concentration of  30, 35 and 40 mg/l were used. The result showed that the adsorption efficiency of activated-adsorbend is higher than that of without activaved. The maximum adsorption of 0,987 mg/g were obtained at Pb2+concentration of 40 mg/l with a contact time and speed of 120 min and 150 rpm, respetively.

Abstract Vanadium is recognized as a potentially dangerous pollutant following closely on lead, mercury and arsenic. Vanadium removal from wastewater prior to discharge is essential. In this work, an amorphous hydrated chromium oxide was prepared and its vanadium adsorption ability studied. As-prepared, the hydrated oxide showed high efficiency in vanadium adsorption – e.g., from 300 to 0.75 mg-V·L−1. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, temperature, adsorption time and the presence of other ions on the vanadium removal rate were investigated, and optimal parameters determined. Dynamic adsorption results showed that pseudo-second-order kinetics could be used to interpret the kinetic curve and that the process was that of chemisorption. The Langmuir isotherm was found to fit the adsorption behavior well.

The poly (butylene succinate) (PBS) and 3 wt% attapulgite (ATP) reinforced PBS/ATP nanocomposites with 1,6-hexanediol were fabricated using an in situ polymerization method. The crystallization behaviors indicated that ATP had effectively acted as nucleating agent, resulting in the enhancement on the crystallization temperature. The SEM results showed a superior interfacial linkage between ATP and PBS. Also, ATP could disperse as a single fiber and embed in the polymer matrix, which resulted in the improved mechanical properties.

In this study, the insulin adsorption ability by synthetic hydroxyapatite was investigated. Hydroxyapatite before thermal treatment and heated at 900°C and 1100°C were incubated in a solution containing 32 mg insulin/gHA. Adsorption and desorption experiments were carried out at 37°C under constant and slowly stirring. From FTIR results it was observed that insulin was tightly attached to HA surface after 96 hours adsorption experiment. Thermal pre-treatment on HA samples had no effect on insulin adsorption. However, protein desorption was more pronounced on samples not submitted to thermal treatment.
