Virtual solutions of museums can be notably used to promote distance learning activities by providing information about their collections. However, the effective use of this potential depends mainly on the exact alignment of the learning activities with the educational goals. For this purpose, this study focuses on the analysis of pre-service teachers’ activity designs based on virtual museum visits for out-of-school learning environments. Within the scope of the case study design, 40 activity plans developed by pre-service teachers for elementary mathematics, science, and classroom teaching were examined. The activity designs for selected virtual museums emerged as a result of a semester program. The research findings indicated that the activities emphasized the strategies of supporting learning outcomes, the guidance process for students in the virtual museum environment, and the engagement of the student with the virtual environment. Based on this, the study revealed that using virtual museums as a teaching tool for pre-service teachers supports teachers’ knowledge and skills of the activity design.

This research aims to know the effectiveness of LKPD from comic in mathematics teaching a algebra’s subject for students of SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak. This research is classified as a pre-experimental in form of one shot case study design. The population of this research were students of eleven grade science program, and the samples is 1 class of students in eleven grade science program. The sample were selected by conducting purposive sampling. The revenue of  data analysis point out that the learning activity was very active with the average student learning activities obtained by 89.35%, the study result was reached. Student gave a great feedback, the implementation of learning management by teachers in learning mathematics was classified as ‘very good’. Based on the research findings that four cathegories of effectiveness was reached, therefore the application of  LKPD from comic was effective in mathematic teaching a algebra materials to the students grade XI science 2 of SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak.Keywords: Effectiveness, LKPD, Comic

This paper presents a case study analyzing which learning cognitive strategies are employed by students who play digital games in both in-school and out-of-school learning contexts. As a Case Study, it falls within the qualitative research category. The researcher integrated themselves to the subjects' learning facility for data-gathering, following all recommended ethical protocols for research involving underage subjects. The following data collection instruments were used: research diary, questionnaire, and interviews, conducted with teenagers who play digital games during formal learning activities. Analysis involved data-crossing and checking our data against existing studies and theories, as well as a cartographic production. Data indicates that digital games enhance student usage of cognitive strategies and favor competencies and abilities-based learning over formal learning contents.

Ecology may be seen as one of the main topics of biological education as it functions at the interface of several other aspects of biology. Although it may easily be conveyed through field trips and hands-on activities, it is taught theoretically most of the time and in traditional ecosystems like forests or lakes. For this study, new teaching material has been developed that demonstrates the exploration of more special or “atypical” ecosystems in biology classes. It combines working in a local vineyard with hands-on elements for school. By exploring a human-made ecosystem, which is different from those traditionally used, students gain content knowledge and get to know scientific methods. In our case study, students’ learning progress, motivation, and enjoyment of learning were measured. The results indicate that teaching at an out-of-school learning site as well as working with hands-on materials not only has a motivational effect but also increases enjoyment of learning. Furthermore, neglected ecosystems like vineyards serve as new and fitting examples for teaching ecological and plant-biological topics. The results indicate a significant learning gain for the participants. Thus, biology curricula should be broadened to include more and local plants and ecosystems.

The aim of this study is to determine the teachers' view about getting students be aware of awareness of environmental according to the activities in Science Houses. 15 Science and Technology teachers working in Kocaeli Science House participated to the search which has been carried out in 2011 - 2012.In this research fenomological approach has been applied. Purposeful sampling is used. Semi-structure interviews and open-ended question forms which were prepared by the researchers and checked by experts were applied as data collection tools. Content analysis method is used for data analyzing.Teachers who participated in this study emphasized the importance of out of school learning environments and also Science Houses' activities for awareness of environmental. Furthermore they added that formal and informal learning activities should be together and teachers should take students to the out of school learning environments.When the literature is examined it is seen that informal and formal leaning areas are both important for awareness of environmental. In this research views of teachers working in out of school learning environments about the activities and students' awareness of environmental are investigated according the literature. As a result of this study it is found that out of school learning environments are important for awareness of environmental and these areas and their activities should be increased. It is hoped that this research will help the investigators who want to study about out of school learning environments.

Hospitals developed over the period of time when positivism become a predominant world view. Positivism was founded by four Western trends: preponderance of hierarchy and autocracy, popularization of bureaucracy, extensive application of a machine orientation to work and predominance of “scientific” inquiry. Organizational theory developed largely from quantitative research findings arising from a positivistic world view. A case study, analyzing a current nursing organizational structure at one large hospital, is presented. Nursing management was found to be based upon the positivistic paradigm. The predominance of a machine orientation, and an autocratic and bureaucratic structure are evidence of this. A change to shared governance had been attempted, indicating a shift to a more modern organizational structure based on a different paradigm. The article concludes by emphasizing that managers are largely responsible for facilitating change; change that will meet internal human resource needs and the cost-effectiveness crises of hospitals today through more effective use of human resources.
