One of the most pressing issues today is the organization of education, which combines all the components of educational content, traditional teaching, which maintains its dominance in educational institutions, serves as the basis for a systematic approach to the teaching of biological sciences. At the heart of a systematic approach to the teaching of biological sciences is the integration of educational content, teaching methods, tools and forms, and these components of the educational process form a coherent system.

This research is motivated by efforts to improve the quality of graduates of the Biology Education Departement in the management and implementation of practicum in schools. The purpose of this research is to describe the ability of PBL alumni teachers in managing and implementing practicum. The method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative which provides a careful description of the alumni's ability to manage and carry out practicum. The steps of data collection were questionnaires, observations and documentation studies. The technique used to analyze the data is a descriptive technique with percentages. The results of the study on the ability of the alumni of the Biology Education Study Program in managing practicum showed the following: (1) The planning of the laboratory work program (53.33%) was declared good; (2) Laboratory organization was stated to be very good (33.33%) (3) The implementation of the laboratory work program (46.66%) was stated to be very good; and (4) the supervision and evaluation of the laboratory work program (26.66%) was stated to be very good. While the ability of alumni teachers in carrying out practicum is in the good category (75.3%). Teachers play an important role in the management and implementation of effective practicum

The Biological Faculty of the Saratov State University turns 90 years old in 2021. The first students were enrolled at the Faculty in the 1931–1932 academic year. However, the faculty’s history began long before its opening, when the Department of Botany and the Department of Zoology with Comparative Anatomy were organized in the new Saratov Imperial Nikolaev University in 1909. The article describes important events in the life of the Faculty and the contribution of scientists who stood at the origins of the birth of biological science at Saratov State University and played an important role in the formation and development of the Biological Faculty. A whole galaxy of famous biologists and eminent personalities worked at the university at different times. These are the academicians N. I. Vavilov, N. A. Maksimov, A. A. Richter, corresponding members A. Ya. Gordyagin, S. D. Lvov, professors D. E. Yanishevsky, A. D. Fursaev, I. V. Krasovskaya, V. S. Elpatevskiy, B. K. Fenyuk, P. A. Vunder, A. A. Chiguryaeva, S. S. Khokhlov, M. P. Gnutenko, V. V. Ignatov and others. They founded scientific schools, laid down faculty traditions and set a high standard for biological education, which the modern faculty team strives to maintain to this day.

This paper examines the possibilities within the digital transformation of biology education, especially for the formation of senior students information culture. Genesis disclosure of the information culture concept within the framework of bibliographic, philosophical and pedagogical approaches allowed us to reveal the following tendency: the dynamically changing information world determines the evolution of such a multicomponent phenomenon as information culture. The paper presents the methodology implementation for the formation of secondary school students information culture by means of mobile technologies in the context of blended learning in the system of modern biological education. Criteria and indicators have been determined that make it possible to judge the level of information culture formation within the framework of cognitive, axiological and technological components. The paper analyzes the results of a pedagogical experiment, which finally allowed to state that the developed model of the formation of modern secondary school students information culture by using mobile learning technologies and the organizational and pedagogical conditions for its implementation contribute to the achievement of positive dynamics of indicators and improve the quality of biological education in a secondary school.

Currently, some previously recognized ideas are being re-evaluated in biological education, which confirms the need to improve and further develop the methodology for studying and teaching the theory of evolution. Relevant in this regard are the selection of the content and the development of a methodology for studying Darwins theory of natural selection in the school biology course, which determined the purpose of the study. The purpose of the paper is to develop a methodology for studying some issues of Darwins theory of natural selection in the school biology course. The paper offers a variant of the program and a method for studying the most complex issues of the topic. Natural selection, which manifests itself as a consequence of the struggle for existence, should be described by formulating a definition, describing the mechanism and results of action. The study of natural selection should be accompanied by evidence of its leading role in evolution. Describing the struggle for existence as a factor of evolution, it is necessary to emphasize its ecological essence. The results of the action of natural selection should be described taking into account their cause-and-effect relationships, accompanying this with examples, using various manuals and tasks and carrying out practical work. The description of the methodology for studying the issues of the topic is of theoretical significance, and the given methodological recommendations for studying the prerequisites for the emergence of Darwinism, the doctrine of the variability of organisms, the struggle for existence, natural selection and other issues are of practical importance and will ensure a successful assimilation of this complex material by students.
