Engineering communication studies indicate the importance of oral presentations as an indispensable component of workplace oral communication activities; however, since there is limited literature regarding stakeholder perceptions of effective presentation skills and attributes in technical oral presentations or final year engineering project presentations, the authors conducted a mixed method to seek the perceptions of selected members of the academic and professional engineering community involved in technical oral presentations regarding effective presentation skills and attributes required in these technical oral presentations. The paper describes the quantitative and qualitative research methods employed to seek participant feedback involved in the study.

The aim of the conducted quantitative and qualitative research was to determine the barriers that students encounter when participating in classes taught distantly. The pilot study covered 50 NCU students in Toruń and was carried out in March and April 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the classes were completely transferred to the distant mode. A questionnaire consisting of 26 open and closed questions was the tool used in the research. The research focused on identifying the barriers faced by students during classes. The students described their needs in relation to the use of communicators and social networking sites by academic teachers, they were asked to describe how they imagined an ideal online lesson. The students drew attention to technical problems, disruption, and problems with access to the Internet. They find it difficult to use many tools (enabling synchronous classes). The research has shown that academic teachers do not have the necessary methodological competence to carry out the didactic process in distant forms. The students stress the existence of difficulties in contacting the teachers; they are often left without explanations or comments with the teaching materials uploaded on the platform.

Physics is one of the subjects related to various scientific concepts in which some of its applications can be found in everyday life. Thus in the learning of physics required special skills, namely science process skills. Science process skills have two categories, basic science process skills, and integration science processes. The researcher conducted research that aims to measure the ability of students' science process skills on static fluid material by using an observation sheet that matches the indicators of science process skills. The research method used is a mixed-method (mix methods) while the design used is sequential explanatory, which combines quantitative and qualitative research in a sequence using the quantitative method and then the quantitative method. From the results of interviews and observations, it can be seen that the science process skills of students at Adhyaksa 1 Junior High School in Jambi are classified as good.

Recent studies have suggested that literature components benefit students in language acquisition and reading in general, yet reading for enjoyment is arguable since most of the students admit reading is done for examination purposes. Regardless of the reading purpose, adoption of efferent, aesthetic and critical stances is vital and believed to influence the reading process. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the perceived and actual reading stances among learners when they read a novel. A total of 484 students from twelve non-residential secondary schools situated in Kuantan participated in this study. Employing a mixed method design, both quantitative and qualitative research approaches were utilised. The instruments used to collect the data were a set of questionnaire and student’s written responses. Although the findings from the questionnaire and written responses suggested that the learners employed all the three stances namely efferent, aesthetic and critical stances, there was the tendency for the students to adopt more of the efferent stance than the aesthetic and critical stances. Overall, the adoption of the efferent stance indicates that the students tend to closely and narrowly process the novel in terms of the story line narrated by the writer rather than adopting aesthetic and critical stances through interacting with the plot and characters and relating these elements with their experience and viewpoints.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the development of research questions in mixed methods studies. First, we discuss the ways that the goal of the study, the research objective(s), and the research purpose shape the formation of research questions. Second, we compare and contrast quantitative research questions and qualitative research questions. Third, we describe how to write mixed methods research questions, which we define as questions that embed quantitative and qualitative research questions. Finally, we provide a framework for linking research questions to mixed methods data analysis techniques. A major goal of our framework is to illustrate that the development of research questions and data analysis procedures in mixed method studies should occur logically and sequentially.

This narrative review summarizes findings from quantitative and qualitative research literature that has been published over the past 15 years since an initial, community-based pilot study first challenged the long-held medical belief that vigorous, upper-body exercise would lead to lymphedema in women who were at risk due to treatments for breast cancer. Dragon boat racing originated in China more than 2000 years ago and has become a popular recreational and competitive support around the world. From the advent of the world's first breast cancer survivor dragon boat team,Abreast in a Boatlaunched in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1996, there are now more than 140 breast cancer survivor dragon boat teams paddling and competing in 12 different countries. The wealth of quantitative and qualitative research that has ensued since that pilot study further supports the initial hypothesis that resistance exercise, for example, dragon boat paddling, is not onlysafefor women recovering from conventional breast cancer therapies but also shows that dragon boating has been embraced as a complementary exercise therapy by the cancer survivors participating in this magical sport.

Propaganda researchers study systematic attempts to influence audience perceptions and behaviors. This area of scholarship is intrinsically interdisciplinary, with findings emerging from such fields as anthropology, art, communication, computer science, history, psychology, and sociology. Some propaganda scholars measure outcomes, while others analyze themes, techniques, and campaign strategies without making claims about audience effects. Quantitative and qualitative research methods are commonly used, with many scholars incorporating a mixed-method approach.
