Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of CS on the cost of capital of organizationslisted at the NSE. Kenya.Methodology:The study adopted a descriptive research design. The target population for this study were the 41 listed companies on the NSE which were drawn from a list of 65 after applying various exclusion and inclusion criteria. A census of 41 firms was therefore used. Secondary Data for the year 2010 to 2014 was collected from the NSE handbook. Data collected was analysed using descriptive statistics which included means and standard deviations. Inferential statistics such as Pearson correlation and panelregression was also used. The results were presented in form of tables, figures, charts, graphs and trend lines. Results: Based on the findings, the study concluded that there was a significant and positive relationship between asset ratio, total equity to debt ratio, total long term debt to total asset ratio and total short term debt to total asset ratio and cost of capital of firms listed in the NSE. These findings imply that an increase in any of the ratios led to an increase in cost of capital.Policy recommendation:Based on the findings the study recommended that firms should pursue optimum capital structure mix, which will ensure minimum cost of capital. They can do this by focusing on those forms of capital that had lower impacts on cost of capital.

A procedure confirms whether a return-factor correlation is anomalous or results from endogenous simultaneous-equations bias. The identification strategy sorts the cost of capital components for instruments. In the first stage, the initially found factors are regressed on cost instruments. In the second stage, a confirmed anomaly has predicted value significant in returns and exogenous. Taxes, depreciation and capital structure are strong instruments, affecting 1980–2017 quarterly U.S. stock returns. Size, value and profitability decisions are significant in instruments. Returns increase in fitted profits, but not small size. Actual and predicted values have weaker correlation with returns over time.

Purpose: The study sought to determine the effect of consumer protection function on financial performance of SACCOs in Kenya.Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive research design. The target population comprised of registered 181 deposit-taking SACCOs as at 31st December 2014 and the three licensed CRBs in Kenya. Stratified random sampling was used in the study, where SACCOs were grouped into five respective strata which were then randomly selected. The SACCOs were grouped into five respective strata of government based, teachers based, farmers based, private institutions based and community based. The study sampled 135 of the 181 (74.5%) licensed deposit taking SACCOs since these were the only licensed deposit-taking SACCOs by 2014. The choice of the licensed deposit taking SACCOs in Kenya was very objective since it was possible to obtain information that is representative of Kenya. In addition, SACCOs form the smaller arm in the financial sector and in most cases deals with a larger group of clients from the informal sector as opposed to other financial institutions like banks. Both primary and secondary data were analyzed using SPSS software, and statistics generated included descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The particular descriptive statistics used included frequencies and percentages while the particular inferential statistics included Pearson correlation analysis and regression. Correlation analysis was used to establish relationships between the consumer protection function and financial performances. Regression analysis was used to establish the significance of the variables and the degree of causal effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The hypotheses testing were conducted using simple regression model.Findings: From the data analysis the study concluded that there was a significant and positive relationship between consumer protection function and financial performance thus the existence of credit reference bureaus was suitable for improving financial performance of SACCOs. This implies that that Credit reference bureaus have led to consumer protection and increased customers’ rights. Similarly, credit reference bureaus have led to assumption that borrowing is a right regardless of capabilities. Credit reference bureaus have reduces undesired monopolistic actions of lenders. Lastly, credit reference bureaus have led to reduced bad “culture” on loan repayment.Recommendation: The study recommended that lenders should ensure that they have accurate information before listing the unworthy borrowers to avoid unnecessary legal battles which may affect performance as a measure for customer rights protection.

This paper offers empirical proof of Bangladesh's theories of capital markets and analyses the effects of the failure to introduce a secondary capital market in relation to Bangladesh. The findings from the cross-sectional OLS regression demonstrate that both the static deal theory and the cost theory of the organisation are applicable to the capital structure of the Bangladesh Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies. The lack of a secondary market will affect the costs of an entity because shareholders unable to decommission their shares may place pressure on management to behave in their best interests. We analyse in this paper, using a sample of 5 Bangladeshi FMCG companies for the period from 2014 to 2019, the determinants of Bangladesh's Debt to Total Asset. This study reveals that Bangladesh's listed Food and Allied company's average leverage ratio is close to that of other countries in the growth of the economy. The study also shows that the Company's Profitability is strongly and positively linked to the asset structure, Size, Profitability, growth and business risks. A firm's Size has a statistically significant negative impact on Debt to Total Asset.
