Laser-based Direct Energy Deposition (L-DED) is a very quick and freeform fabrication process. L-DED is useful to fabricate near net shape for engineering applications as well as medical applications. L-DED has been successful in making a variety of pure metals and its alloys for industrial needs. This review paper gives an overview of the research progress in various types of metallic materials like nickel alloys, Stainless Steel (SS), and Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) fabricated by L-DED. Simultaneously, the effects of process parametric related factors also discussed. Introduction about nickel alloys, Stainless Steel, and FGMs relevant findings, and their advantages and disadvantages for these alloys are communicated. The paper shows the metallurgical, mechanical properties, and post-processing effects on L-DED fabricated nickel alloys, SS, and FGMs. This paper will be helpful to the researchers and industrialists and for those who are interested to do research in this field.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD), as one of the common postoperative complications, mainly occurs after surgery and anesthesia, especially in the elderly. It refers to cognitive function changes such as decreased learning and memory ability and inability to concentrate. In severe cases, there could be personality changes and a decline in social behavior. At present, a great deal of research had been carried out on POCD, but its specific mechanism remains unclear. The release of peripheral inflammation-related factors, the degradation and destruction of the blood-brain barrier, the occurrence of central inflammation, and the neuronal apoptosis and synaptic loss could be promoted by neuroinflammation indicating that inflammatory mechanisms may play key roles in the occurrence of POCD.

Introduction: Nurses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) represent a multicultural workforce who are educated in different countries from around the world. The purpose was to assess professional competence among a multicultural workforce of registered nurses in KSA in relation to individual and work-related factors. Method: The Nurse Professional Competence Scale was used in a cross-sectional design. Results: Registered nurses ( N = 541) reported highest scores for “nursing care,” and “value-based nursing care,” and lowest scores for “care pedagogics,” and “development, leadership, and organization of nursing care.” All CAs achieved 0.80 or more Cronbach’s alpha. Known-group validity was verified by comparing nurse managers and staff nurses competence in organization, administration, and leadership of nursing care ( p = .000). Discussion: There is room for competence development in care pedagogics, and development, leadership, and organization of nursing care. Assessing registered nurses competence is of importance for planning and implementing cultural congruent nursing care.

ABSTRACT Objective: to determine the factors that influence the missed nursing care in hospitalized patients. Methods: descriptive correlational study developed at a private hospital in Mexico. To identify the missed nursing care and related factors, the MISSCARE survey was used, which measures the care missed and associated factors. The care missed and the factors were grouped in global and dimension rates. For the analysis, descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation and simple linear regression were used. Approval for the study was obtained from the ethics committee. Results: the participants were 71 nurses from emergency, intensive care and inpatient services. The global missed care index corresponded to M=7.45 (SD=10.74); the highest missed care index was found in the dimension basic care interventions (M=13.02, SD=17.60). The main factor contributing to the care missed was human resources (M=56.13, SD=21.38). The factors related to the care missed were human resources (rs=0.408, p<0.001) and communication (rs=0.418, p<0.001). Conclusions: the nursing care missed is mainly due to the human resource factor; these study findings will permit the strengthening of nursing care continuity.

Abstract : An increasing of customer’s awareness and an emphasis of health service outcomes.  Patients increasingly demand for health care providers including nurses in order to provide professional services. Nursing documentation is a proof of professional nursing services. Professional accoutabilty and responsibilty is one of the important reasons to make accurate documentation. The nurse must make an accurate and complete medical record concerning nursing care which given to the client. The Nurse’s motivation is one of the factors that encourages someone to do somehing including carrying out nursing documentation. The research objective was to nalyze the factors associated with the nurse’s motivation in documentation of nursing care in Sickrooms of Madani Palu General Hopital. The research method utilized analytical with crossectional study disign. The population was 56 nurses who officiate in Sickrooms of Madani General Hospital. The sample was 56 nurses, and the data was collected by questionnaire. The data analysis utilized univariate and bivariate alaysis with Chi Square test. The research finding was obtained there was no significant correlation among education level (p = 1.00), Gender (p = 1.00), length on work (p = 0.34), employment status (p = 0.86), Hospital regulation (p = 0.96), work conditions (p = 0.07) with nurse’s motivation in documentation of nursing care (Ho accepted). Whereas supervision variable (p = 0.005) and rewards (p = 0.000) meant that there was significant correlation among supervision and reward variables with nurse’s motivation in documentation of nursing care (Ho was rejected). It can be concluded that variables which has a significant correlation with nurse’s motivation in recording of nursing care are supervison and reward. It is suggested to the Management of Madani General Hospital to improve documentation of complete nursing cares is required a regular supervison to the nurses and also provide an appropriate rewards for them who carry out documentation properly.
