The experiment showed the following: absence of statistically important differences in the level of formed foreign language competences in control and experimental groups at the beginning of the experiment as t = -0.99, p = 0.43. At the end of the experiment p < 0,05: t = -5.19, p = 0,000014. It testifies that the compared groups significantly differ that proves the effect of web-quest technique in teaching foreign languages. Digital educational resources contribute to mastering a foreign language as a means of professional communication and increase the motivation of students to study this subject. The article discusses a new strategy of professionally-directed (didactic-oriented) foreign language teaching to students of a language pedagogical university (future teachers of a foreign language). The study analyses the components of the teacher’s methodological (linguodidactic) competence, revealing a number of problems concerning their formation in a pedagogical university, as well as showing the dependence of their development on the intensity of their actualisation in the Foreign Language Practice discipline. The article identifies several factors hindering the formation of the linguodidactic competence within foreign language classes. In order to overcome these negative factors, the article offers a new model of teaching foreign languages, described in the formula “from the acquisition of didactic experience to one’s own educative decisions”. The methodology of this model is based on two interrelated methods: contextual teaching and vocation-focused foreign languages teaching, as well as related methods for organizing productive teaching of a foreign language. The model mentioned above assumes a two-stage implementation. At the first stage, analytical work of students is organized. Its aim is to understand and analyse the teaching practice. An important condition is the modelling of basic structural elements and some procedural features of a school lesson while organising university foreign language classes. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of individualised goal-setting, planning and self-assessment (reflection), demonstration of lexis, grammar and phonetics mastering, of active forms and techniques for organising communicative activities, methodological reflection. At the first stage, university students are also offered some methodological tools (for example, goalsetting maps and maps for academic work planning, etc.), which can be used in teaching foreign languages at school. When organising the educational process, much attention is paid to the awareness of methodological facts, phenomena, patterns. Therefore, a new type of exercises (educational-methodological) has been proposed. In addition to an educational task, these exercises contain a methodological task in form of a short comment, an additional question, etc. At the second stage, there is a transition to the organising of a productive methodologically oriented foreign language activity. Three main methods of methodologically oriented teaching are distinguished: modification of authentic (university) materials for different age groups of schoolchildren, conventional “professional test”, and project educational-methodological activity. In conclusion, the main results of the study are summarised.

The article deals with the issues of structuring the variative foreign language training content. Variative foreign language training consists of a basic mandatory part for all students, which implements the requirements of Federal state educational standards at a minimum level and variation part. The variation part, represented by educational variants, is designed to meet the cognitive needs of students and take into account personal characteristics that affect the acquisition of a foreign language at the University. It is shown that the system approach is the basis for structuring the content. Professionally oriented foreign language training in higher education is considered as part of the higher education system, is subject to general goals, is regulated by the standard, program, and includes the levels of higher education: bachelor's, master's, specialty, and postgraduate. Disciplines related to foreign language acquisition are focused on the formation of foreign language communication skills, and also allow forming flexible skills that are necessary by specialists in different areas of professional activity today and are increasingly in the future. It is noted that the system approach regulates the construction of variative training parts in the aggregate, due to their interaction. The core of the system is the basic and variation variants availability. The framework of the system is the educational standards requirements, the educational program data, which sets the terms of the course development, the number of hours for classroom and self-study work, the form of intermediate and final control. The system integrity is manifested in the presence of horizontal and vertical links between the educational process elements. Horizontal links are located in the relationship between the basic and variation parts at each education level. Vertical links are found between the basic and additional parts of all levels on the basis of content and technology continuity. Continuity is understood as taking into account the individual level of educational achievements and reliance on the studied material. The results led to structure the variative foreign language training content in "Animal husbandry", to identify the basic and variation parts for the growth and development of foreign language skills and orientation training to suit individual needs and students’ characteristics.

As the title implies, a scientific paper reveals the issue of an efficiency of professional activity of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions in the context of SIOP model. The problem of this study is that in spite of the stressed importance of teaching skills, student teachers lack many of the English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching skills which may have a negative impact on their teaching performance that in turn affects their teaching self-efficacy. The methods of applying SIOP model and the effect of using SIOP model on developing EFL student teachers’ teaching skills are studied. It is emphasized that among the multiple factors that affect students’ achievement is teacher effectiveness. Thus, the challenge remains to improve and promote the effectiveness of teachers in an effort to increase students’ academic achievement. The positive and negative aspects of the education shift towards SIOP model are identified, the principles of enhancing innovative educational process effectiveness are revealed. It is worth noting that any professional development of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions must address specific knowledge and attitudes that are relevant to teaching foreign language learners. Teachers need to understand basic constructs of the second language development, the nature of language proficiency, the role of the first language and culture in learning, and the demands that mainstream education places on culturally diverse students. There is growing evidence that professional development approaches that are guided by teacher input and that view teacher learning as continual and transformative makes higher education institutions a better place for students and staff. The results indicated that introduction of SIOP model has opened up a number of problems associated with the introduction of such training services. It is stressed that the factors of SIOP model can guide limited English proficient students and suggest some useful strategies for language teachers to handle the students’ difficulties in language comprehension. It should be stressed that the introduction of SIOP model in modern educational process opens up wide horizons and unlimited possibilities for the efficiency of professional activity of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions, which have yet to be studied and mastered by modern pedagogical science.
