In New Zealand, for non-Chinese speaker learners aged 5-12, the Chinese courses provided by the Confucius Institute are usually based on the premise of increasing interest, with the main teaching goal of improving students' oral communication skills and increasing their understanding of Chinese and Asian culture. Therefore, it is an effective way to improve the quality of Chinese teaching by fully considering the students' cultural background and combining modern teaching techniques with traditional teaching content. Guided by N.S. Prabhu's task-based language teaching methods, this chapter uses a case study method to explore how to use the mobile applications and other multimedia technologies to improve the teaching effect of Chinese Pinyin in a New Zealand elementary school.

Compression and encryption of speech signals are essential multimedia technologies. In the field of speech, these technologies are needed to meet the security and confidentiality of information requirements for transferring huge speech signals via a network, and for decreasing storage space for rapid retrieval. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that includes hybrid transformation in order to analyses the speech signal frequencies. The speech signal is then compressed, after removing low and less intense frequencies, to produce a well compressed speech signal and ensure the quality of the speech. The resulting compressed speech is then used as an input in a scrambling algorithm that was proposed on two levels. One of these is an external scramble that works on mixing up the segments of speech that were divided using Fuzzy C-Means and changing their locations. The internal scramble scatters the values of each block internally based on the pattern of a Sudoku puzzle and quadratic map so that the resulting speech is an input to a proposed encryption algorithm using the threefish algorithm. The proposed algorithm proved to be highly efficient in the compression and encryption of the speech signal based on approved statistical measures.

This essay examines the flow of music associated with orisha—anthropomorphic deities—across networks defined variously by art, scholarship, folklore, and religion, all of which overlap and nourish each other. Transmitted via oral tradition, written texts, and multimedia technologies, a handful of orisha-themed songs are analyzed as case studies in the subtle nexus of liturgy and cultural authenticity. Taken together, the songs shed light on a broader phenomenon in which creatively-minded, ostensibly-secular iterations of culture play a significant role in the dissemination and ongoing codification of ritual orthodoxy. Orisha music traditions are analyzed as a fertile ground for a multitude of devotional and/or artistic expressions, many of which have a particularly ambiguous relationship to the concept of religion. In this context, the fluid movements of orisha music between ostensibly sacred and secular contexts can be usefully understood as not only common, but as a conspicuous and characteristic aspect of the tradition. The essay’s structure and rhetorical strategies offer distinct layers of cultural and historical commentary, reflecting a multi-vocal tradition of exchanges among orisha music scholars, artists, and ritual experts. The essay’s historical analysis of orisha music further suggests that a host of subtle, seldom-discussed phenomena—multilingualism, liturgical ambiguity, and transmission via multimedia technologies—are not necessarily aberrant or irregular, but rather vital themes which have resonated clearly across the Afro-Atlantic for at least a century. By obligating us to attend to both musical meaning and cultural context, the essay’s case studies of orisha music shed light on the mingling and synthesis of elements from varied historical sources, languages, and cultural idioms, each of which represent distinct notions of tradition, creativity, religiosity, and secularism.

Abstract With the rapid development of society, people have an increasing higher demand for information. As one of the vital information resources, archives are facing the significant impact of the global information tide. The original manual management method for archives can no longer meet the needs of people for their efficient management and utilization. How to transform archive management from manual to digital mode based on advanced information technology has become a hot issue of concern and research. Based on the digital application of archive management, supported by the advanced computer, communication, network, database, and multimedia technologies, we designed and developed a general digital system of archive management. The topological structure of the client/browser/server is used in the system, with the cross-platform characteristics.

The article deals with ways of educating undergraduate students how to use electronic textbooks while teaching mathematics in primary education. This education is a relevant approach to increase primary pupils’ information literacy; besides, it shows how important it is for a teacher to be able to use different storage media and interactive multimedia technologies to increase interest in learning and achieve pedagogical goals. The researches collected data from the results of testing and filling in questionnaires by students, who proved to be incompetent of using electronic textbooks on their own lessons at schools because they are not able to: highlight the structural elements of each layer of the textbook, perform navigating, search for interactive and multimedia elements, add their own content, use various models of using this electronic tool in primary education. The article demonstrates general goals, content and three stages of activities undergraduate students should go through to master their skills in defining potential of electronic books and how they contribute into personal growth of a pupil during the lesson. The article describes how bachelors should estimate and use electronic versions. The article presents project tasks and exercises for analysis. It gives examples of professional competencies connected with using electronic textbooks during math lessons in primary schools: searching for pages, justifying the choice of the media library, as well as the stages of the lesson where one can use them, and others.

The article considers the issues of media discourse on the example of the web-site «The Guardian» as a product of convergent journalism. Structural and organizational as well as content peculiarities of this electronic edition are described on the basis of the integrative methods of discourse analysis. These methods include formal criteria, criteria of multimedia technologies, extra- and intralinguistic criteria. The analysis of the representation of these criteria allowed to reveal its organizational structure and design; the degree of presence and severity of the phenomenon of convergence; the specificity of content via the realization on the site a range of discourse categories such as audience, communicative purpose, self-identification, space, time, intertextuality, intereventness, intersubjectivity. The category “stylistic range” reflects the text organization of the online edition.

In the context of modern scientific, technical and information revolution, education functions as a complex socio-economic organism, which plays an important role in the progress of mankind. The state policy in the field of education is an integral part of the state policy. Everything that happens in society, economy, culture, one way or another, affects the formation and implementation of educational policy, the functioning of the education system as a whole. The aim of the article is to highlight the essence of the "multimedia" concept, "multimedia technologies" and "distance learning", the characteristics of the types of multimedia products that are most often used to study theoretical material, revealing the benefits of using multimedia technologies in the educational environment. The article reveals the essence of concepts: "multimedia", "multimedia technologies" and "distance learning", describes the types of multimedia products that are often used to organize the study of theoretical material, discloses the advantages of using multimedia technologies in the educational environment, identifies the main methodological and didactic requirements to the use of multimedia technologies in training at a higher education institution. Conclusions: using multimedia technologies allows to individualize the learning process and promotes the independence of applicants. Thanks to these technologies, the interest of applicants in the educational component increases, there is confidence that he is able to learn it, by re-studying the material at a convenient time. It is also possible to adjust the time and duration of training to your own schedule and capabilities.
