<br /><table class="data" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td class="value"><p>In the present study, anti-ulcerative effects of extract of Brassica nigra L. leaves were investigated in pylorus ligation and aspirin-induced gastric ulcer models in rats. In present study antiulcer effect of ethanolic extract of Brassica nigra leaves is well understood by total acidity, free acidity, and ulcer index of different groups of animals in both the model viz. Pylorus ligation model  &amp; Aspirin induced gastric ulcer in experimental rats when compared the test group with control and standard group. The percentage of ulcer inhibition was observed in pylorus ligated model was as follows: standard, BNLE 100mg/kg, BNLE 200mg/kg and BNLE 300mg/kg 55.76%, 30.96%, 49.54% and 51.35% respectively. The mechanism of gastric ulcer healing is not well understood and further study is needed to evaluate the specific phytoconstituents responsible for the gastric ulcer healing but on the basis of present study it can be concluded that this gastric healing potential may be due to the pharmacological effect played by the different phytoconstituents present in the ethanolic extract of Brassica nigra leaves for prevention of gastric mucosa or by the antioxidant potential of the leaves which is evaluated during the DPPH free radical scavenging activity.</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Adiantum lunulatum is a fern found in monsoon season in Western Ghats, which is being used traditionally for many ailments such as bronchitis, cough, erysipelas and bleeding disorders. Aim of the present study was to investigate traditional claim of treating bleeding disorder and ulcer healing property of this plant. In the current study, ethanolic extract of adiantum lunulatum (500mg/kg) was evaluated for its efficacy in treating gastric ulcer in wistar albino rats. Ulcers were induced by different ulcer inducing models such as pylorus ligation induced ulcer, ethanol induced ulcer, cold restrain induced ulcer and aspirin induced ulcer. Omeprazole was used as a standard drug at a dose of 20mg/kg. Adiantum lunulatum showed a significant reduction in gastric ulcer, which was significantly comparable to standard drug omeprazole.

Gastric Ulcer is a common side effect of Non-Steroid Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) use such as Aspirin. Probiotic has many benefits especially for the alimentary system, but the effect on gastric ulcer have yet to be explored. In this research we aimed to find the probiotic effect on histological structure changes during aspirin induced gastric ulcer healing process in animal model. This was simple random sampling animal experimental laboratory, that divided Wistar Rats into two main groups. Both groups were induced with Aspirin (300mg/Kg BW) per oral, once daily for three consecutive days,and subsequently the test group were given probiotic suspension (cfu >108/gr) per oral, once daily, for 14 days. Each subgroups were sacrified serially at day 0, 3, 7, 14. The gaster were collected and processed for histology examination. Better histological structures were shown in the test group at day 14. MANOVA result showed probiotic's effect in enhancing histological structure changes during gastric ulcer healing process. Better histological structure changes were observed in mucus thickness; reepitelization, gastric glands formation, and angiogenesis process of the test group. As a conclusion, probiotic enhanced mucus thickness, reepitelization, glands remodelling, and angiogenesis in Aspirin induced gastric ulcer healing process in animal model. Key words: probiotic, gastric ulcer, histological structure, aspirin, healing process

We investigated the role of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) in gastric ulcer healing in rats. NF-κB was activated in ulcerated tissue but not in normal mucosa, and the level of the activation was decreased with ulcer healing. NF-κB activation was observed in fibroblasts, monocytes/macrophages, and neutrophils. Treatment of gastric fibroblasts, isolated from the ulcer base, with interleukin-1β activated NF-κB and the subsequently induced cyclooxygenase-2 and cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant-1 (CINC-1) mRNA expression. Inhibition of activated NF-κB action resulted in suppression of both their mRNA expression and increases in PGE2 and CINC-1 levels induced by interleukin-1β. Persistent prevention of NF-κB activation caused an impairment of ulcer healing in rats. Gene expression of interleukin-1β, CINC-1, cyclooxygenase-2, and inducible nitric oxide synthase in ulcerated tissue had been inhibited before the delay in ulcer healing became manifest. The increased levels of cyclooxygenase-2 protein and PGE2 production were also reduced. These results demonstrate that NF-κB, activated in ulcerated tissue, might upregulate the expression of healing-promoting factors responsible for gastric ulcer healing in rats.

Objective: In the gastrointestinal system, gastric ulcer is one of the common serious problems in human life and gives contribution against morbidity and mortality incidence. The pathophysiology of gastric ulcer is an imbalance between aggressive factor and mucosal integrity factor. Increase of aggressive factors and decrease of mucosal integrity factors have potential against developed of gastric ulcer disease. The objective of the research was to evaluate antioxidant and gastric ulcer healing effect of Orthosiphon stamineus (Benth.) leaves extract in aspirin-induced rats.Methods: In vivo antiulcer activity of Orthosiphon leaves extract was evaluated through several parameters involves gastric acidity, number of ulcers, diameters of ulcers, ulcer index (UI), and healing ratio. Dose level of Orthosiphon leaves extract which used in this study such as 250 and500 mg/kg, respectively. Antioxidant activity of Orthosiphon leaves extract was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl hydrate (DPPH) method. Histopathological of the stomach was performed using hematoxylin-eosin stained.Results: The results of the study showed that groups which given Orthosiphon leaves extract have significantly different for gastric ulcer healing compared to the control group and were supported by histopathological analysis. The Orthosiphon leaves extract also showed maximum scavengingactivity at a concentration of 100 µg/ml (58.86% inhibition) and minimum at 50 μg/ml (29.60% inhibition) with inhibitory concentration 50% (IC  )50 84.54 µg/ml when compared to ascorbic acid as the standard with IC5.08 µg/ml by DPPH method.Conclusion: It can be concluded that from the experimental study of O. stamineus (Benth.) leaves extract has potential antiulcer activity in aspirin- induced rats model and antioxidant effect using DPPH method. Stomach tissues regeneration in gastric ulcer model might be affected by the improvement of antioxidant status.Keywords: Orthosiphon stamineus (Benth.), Extract, Ulcer, Aspirin, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl hydrate.
