To date, several trends in digital technologies have been identified, among which the Internet of Things stands out – a network of digital devices and devices that interact via the Internet. The application areas of the Internet of Things are very wide: industrial technologies, remote service and survival technologies, educational technologies. Modern digital technologies should be introduced into the content of technological education in schools and in the training of computer science teachers. This need is also determined by the currently implemented national projects "Digital Kazakhstan" and "Education". The purpose of the article is to consider the Internet of Things as the content of technological education of future computer science teachers. The article will focus on the formation and development of professional ICT (information and communication technologies) qualifications of the future computer science teacher when teaching the Internet of Things in higher education institutions. When teaching the Internet of Things (IoT), the problems that may arise are taken into account, and it is described how this affects the information and communication skills of the future teacher.

This chapter describes proposals for organizing university programs on the internet of things (IoT) and cyber-physical systems. The final goal is to provide a structure for a basic educational course for the internet of things and related areas. This base (template) could be used both for direct training and for building other courses, including those that are more deeply specialized in selected areas. For related areas, the authors see, for example, machine-to-machine communications and data-driven cities (smart cities) development. Obviously, the internet of things skills are in high demand nowadays, and, of course, IoT models, architectures, as well as appropriate data proceedings elements should be presented in the university courses. The purpose of the described educational course is to cover information and communication technologies used in the internet of things systems and related areas. Also, the authors discuss big data and AI issues for IoT courses and highlight the importance of data engineering.

AbstractInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT) have experienced a large application in many fields, such as smart homes, health monitoring, environmental monitoring, and a great number of studies is present in literature. In particular, it is expected that the Internet of Things (IoT) will become increasingly pervasive in everyday life. Among different technologies, devices based on Long Range (LoRa) and LoRaWAN stand out due to their relative low cost, low power consumption and large cover range. In this survey, recent papers investigating applications of LoRa modules have been selected. The different use-cases are presented with a comparison between communication parameters and results obtained.

The article analyzes the degree of implementation of information and communication technologies, in particular the Internet of Things in Europe at all levels, from individuals and households to large enterprises. An assessment of the regional distribution of internet use across European countries was performed to identify dependence between the pace of development and level of utilization of Internet of Things technology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of mastering of information and communication technologies by European citizens and enterprises, in particular the state of development and the level of application of the Internet of Things. In the course of the research, the methods of systematic and comparative analysis, statistical research and logical generalization were used. Based on the processing of European statistical reports, discrepancies were found between the degree of development of Internet of Things technologies, since the northern and western regions have a more developed technological base than the southern or eastern regions. Among private users of IoT technologies, technological solutions for managing the power consumption of a smart home are most popular, and among smart devices for connecting to the network, they most often choose to use the internet on a TV. The analysis of internet userbase indicates the existence of a divide in digital area, and its likely increase in the next few years, due to the gradual introduction of 5G Internet services. Based on the results of the analysis of the IT infrastructure of European enterprises, the most popular tools for applying Internet of things technology were identified. The analysis showed that European enterprises most frequently choose smart meters, smart lamps, and smart thermostats to optimize energy consumption in the premises of the enterprise among other devices and systems that can be monitored or remotely controlled via the Internet. It was found that large enterprises mostly used devices or systems to optimize energy consumption in the premises of the enterprise, and among medium and small enterprises, tools for optimizing logistics were most often used.

In 2020, the world has witnessed an unprecedented global pandemic with COVID-19. It has led nations to take measures that have an enormous impact on individuals, society, and the economy. Researchers and practitioners responded rapidly, evaluating the opportunities to capitalize on technology for tackling the associated challenges. We investigate the innovative potentials of three emerging digital technologies — namely, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and distributed ledgers — to tackle pandemic-related challenges. We present our findings on the most effective means of leveraging each technology’s potential, the implications for use in crises, and the convergence of the three technologies.

This study aims to show that information and communication technologies (ICT) and the internet of things (IoT) can be used in order to improve the atmosphere of a space. This chapter is based on the assumption that if ICT and IoT are used to better the physical environment of the space, its atmosphere will also be enhanced. A summary of the design of public open spaces and how current ICT and IoT can help in this regard is presented. This theoretical background was the base for a proposal that uses current technology to allow constant changes to the physical layout of a space to accommodate the changing needs of users and improve the space's atmosphere. The proposal advanced here is intentionally simple in terms of its idea and its execution. It is also possible to be tested at any scale a designer or a researcher would prefer. The different and economically conscious experiments will lead to continuous improvements to the proposal.

Today the world is becoming connected. The number of devices that are connected are increasing day by day. Many studies reveal that about 50 billion devices would be connected by 2020 indicating that Internet of things have a very big role to play in the future to come Considering the perplexing engineering of Smart City conditions, it ought not to be failed to remember that their establishment lies in correspondence advancements that permit availability and information move between the components in Smart City conditions. Remote interchanges with their capacities speak to Smart City empowering advancements that give the open door for their fast and effective execution and extension as well. The gigantic weight towards the proficient city the board has triggered various Smart City activities by both government and private area businesses to put resources into Information and Communication Technologies to discover feasible answers for the assorted chances and difficulties (e.g., waste the executives). A few specialists have endeavored to characterize a lot of shrewd urban areas and afterward recognize openings and difficulties in building brilliant urban communities. This short article likewise expresses the progressing movement of the Internet of Things and its relationship to keen urban communities. Advancement in ICT and data sharing innovation are the drivers of keen city degree and scale. This quick development is changing brilliant city development with the beginning of the Internet of Things (IoT). This transformation additionally speaks to difficulties in building (Kehua, Li, and Fu ,Su et al.1). By knowing the attributes of specific advances, the experts will have the occasion to create proficient, practical, and adaptable Smart City frameworks by actualizing the most reasonable one.

The article describes how the Brazilian media shows the Internet of Things. The corpus is composed of 165 texts of Folha de São Paulo published online between 2011 and 2016. A data scraping tool was developed to extract the texts, which were analyzed using Atlas.ti. As criterion of analysis, we sought to identify the most cited objects, the qualities attributed to them, as well as the most recurrent IoT definitions. We also observed the main themes found in the texts and the judgment implied by the articles. We conclude that IoT is defined by the connectivity between intelligent objects, linked to technical and economic issues and to the imaginary of the future. These objects work mostly in the residential, health and transportation areas. Privacy issues still do not dominate the discussions.
