The article explores the basic principles of the structural organisation in music and architecture. We analyze development and transformation of these principles through the various stages of human culture from ancient times to the present. We explore understanding of harmony and aesthetics in different cultures. We review the basic rules of harmony taking the art of ancient Greece and Rome as an example. We review the history of the Golden Ratio and its realisation in practice. The central section gives the calculation of the Golden Ratio in the J. S. Bach`s Chromatic Fantasia in D minor. Finally, we describe the formation and development of the fractal aesthetics and give the examples of fractal art in architecture and music.

This paper is devoted to perceiving the relationship between music and architecture, namely, the discourses which interpret, research, value these two practices in the context of their mutual networking. In that respect it is possible to set aside several problem strongholds which will make the focus of this paper, and which concern: the history of forming and evolution of discourse on the inter-relationship of these two practices; modernist, avant-garde and postmodernist problematization of music and architecture; theories of the artists as a field of music and architecture networking; the interaction of music and architecture on the technical and formal level; spatiality of sound, i.e., sound/music propagation in space and the emergence of the new art concepts based on this principle (sound architecture, aural architecture, sound art).

Data on the history of mineralogical research and knowledge in Ukraine from ancient times to the 90s of the XX century are concentrates in the thorough final work and the prehistory, origin, formation and comprehensive development («golden age») of mineralogy in Ukraine are characterized in varying detail. It is shown that mineralogical researches acquire systemicity from the 50s of the XX century, thanks mainly to the activities of the Lviv Geological and Ukrainian Mineralogical Societie, Lviv University and M. P. Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation оf the NAS of Ukraine. The analysis shows that Ukrainian scientists in difficult conditions without their statehood, as part of various metropolises, developed the basic principles of mineralogical science, and therefore it, as soon as geopolitically it became possible, reached its apogee in the «golden age» of mineralogy. It was marked by significant fundamental achievements, which in the complex contributed to the compilation of various geological maps as a basis for the creation of the Geological Survey of Ukraine schemes for the distribution of fields of metallic and non-metallic minerals. The problem of discovering new minerals and publishing a modern monographic compilation of Ukraine,such as the multivolume «Mineralogical Encyclopedia of Ukraine», remains acute. The new modern edition on the history of mineralogy in Ukraine is timely and extremely necessary for specialists in the field of Earth sciences and other fields of science, so it can be used by scientists, teachers, geologists, historians, graduate students and students, as well as the general public community.

http://www.recentonline.ro/no_049.htm_The objective of the paper is the methodological presentation of the basic principles towards a critical interdisciplinary approach for studying the history of monuments restoration, valid for different cultures. The proposed integrated framework offers the possibility to study and document monuments restoration in various spatial levels e.g. global, continental, international, national, regional, and local. The conceptual and methodological aspects are based on the following fundamental pillars a) the development of science and technology, including relevant history of education, b) the evolution of the restoration philosophy, c) the incorporation of the above in restoration projects at a lower level, d) the infiltration of the above in restoration interventions at the lowest level. The author expects that the above successive and/or parallel levels of scientific branches can contribute effectively to the analysis, synthesis and comparative assessment of the aspects and criteria that influenced monuments restoration timeline. The challenge for the researcher of the monuments restoration history is the adjustment of the whole process to his own –under research- level in such a way as to take advantage of all the interdisciplinary inputs creating, thus, inventive links and stimulating new information and knowledge. The above are briefly tested in the case study of Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece.Such an inductive approach will enable all disciplines to devote their finest efforts towards understanding, documenting and studying monuments restoration history and, thus, support effectively a sustainable future for the world’s cultural heritage.

Indeed, purpose seems to be making a comeback today, as both religious advocates of intelligent design and some prominent secular philosophers argue that any explanation of life without the idea of purpose is missing something essential. This book explores the history of purpose in philosophical, religious, scientific, and historical thought, from ancient Greece to the present. The book traces how Platonic, Aristotelian, and Kantian ideas of purpose continue to shape Western thought.
