Introduction. The need to include authentic works of fiction in the foreign language teaching process is obvious, but the selection of texts of the appropriate level at the elementary and intermediate stages of Spanish teaching remains a challenge. Since this phenomenon has not been sufficiently explored, the aim of this article is to present a list of unabridged short stories that correspond to the intermediate level (B1 PCIC) and the results of the study on the benefits of using these stories as a means of stimulating communication skills in the Spanish class. Materials and Methods. To study the problem, a Likert scale questionnaire, oral interviews, and a check of the final work were carried out. The study involved 54 students from three Russian universities and one school where Spanish and English are studied in depth. The collected data were processed by methods of mathematical statistics in Microsoft Office Excel. For the study, 36 short stories by contemporary Hispanic authors were selected and pre and post-reading questions were developed to introduce the topic and stimulate oral speech. Results. Based on the results of the study, it was revealed that the selected stories correspond to the B1 level of the Cervantes Instituteʼs curriculum, and the topics presented in the stories stimulate communication in the class, pushing the fear of making a mistake into the background. Many Spanish teachers introduce unabridged fiction starting at B2 level. This experiment demonstrates the successful use of short stories at an intermediate level of language proficiency. Discussion and Conclusion. The results of the study contribute to the development and improvement of the methodology of teaching Spanish with the use of authentic fiction texts. The materials of the article will be useful for practicing teachers and methodologists of the Spanish language.

The article is in the problematic field of the historiosophy of Russian culture. In understanding the essence of historiosophy, the author of the article focuses on the deontology by Nikolai Kareev and the “passionarity” theory of Lev Gumilyov. In addition, the works of contemporary researchers of Russian historiosophy are involved. The texts of Vasily Rozanov, associated with his understanding of the personality of Peter the Great, the first Emperor’s place and role in Russian history. In choosing Vasily Rozanov’s texts, the author of the article uses a chronological method, a way to present V. Rozanov’s historiosophical views in development. In addition, the historical and cultural method is used to explain the essence of the meanings of historical phenomena, sometimes their inconsistency. The article notes that for the first time Vasily Rozanov turns to the personality of Peter the Great in his philosophical treatise “On Understanding”, where he points to the originality of Peter I and inscribes him in world history. It turns out that in the articles of the 1890s, Vasily Rozanov discovers in Peter I a person who brings suffering to the country and at the same time sincerely loves it. In a special article about Peter I and later in “Fallen Leaves”, Vasily Rozanov reveals the most significant ideals realised by the Emperor. In his final work, Vasily Rozanov emphasises the need for Peter I and, at the same time, the tragic consequences of his reforms for the country. As a result, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that Peter the Great is the alpha and the omega of Vasily Rozanov’s historiosophical views.

Abstract This article addresses the largely unexplored relationship between Stein's literary innovations and the new sound media of her time. By examining these connections, this article looks at Stein's compositional techniques—in particular her concept of the continuous present and her lifelong interest in speech and dialogue—to examine how new media technologies intersected with her attempt to change the way writing was written, read, and heard. By focusing on sound, and looking specifically at her final work Brewsie and Willie (1946), this article reads Stein's innovative poetics against the backdrop of concurrent changes to audio technologies during her career. Finally, the article argues that by paying attention to the ongoing shifts in media ecologies in relation to modernist innovations, we might gain insight into the larger phenomenological and sensorial sphere that formed the backdrop to modernism.

This article analyses Claude Lanzmann’s final work, The Four Sisters (2017), in the context of its being edited from the outtakes of Shoah (1985) for broadcast on the Arte television channel. It argues that the distinctive features of the film, including its form as a quartet of self-contained interviews, absence of location footage and reliance on certain kinds of shot construction and mise-en-scène, arise from this televisual production context, as well as seeming to mark an ambivalent effort on the director’s part to redress his earlier work’s focus on male testifiers.

Every tertiary academic institution has the obligation of recording and taking the attendance of its students during lecture periods. Over the years the process and accuracy of this attendance has been marred by many challenges which range from the cumbersome nature of paper sheets used in recording, to the manipulation of attendance by unscrupulous students and so on. This paper is aimed at designing and implementing a biometric students’ time and attendance logging system that helps in mitigating these challenges. This biometric student time and attendance logging system uses the fingerprint biometric characteristics to accurately identify the student. The system also generates a report showing the number of times a particular student was present or absent in a semester. This feat was achieved through the use of an atmega328P microcontroller, a fingerprint RS305 module, a liquid crystal display (LCD), a Red Green Blue (RGB) light emitting diode (LED) and a Personal Computer (PC) amongst others. The software used in this work was developed using visual studio C# and MySQL2008, and the final work was simulated using proteus before it was constructed and tested. The results of the test show a significant improvement over the manual attendance system.

This study is done to write an article related to the art exhibition for "Kami SI + SA" entitled Rumah Kutai Perak and identify the systematic process of artwork making. This artwork's process is based on the theory and practice of Ocvirk, Stinson, Wigg, Bone, Cayton (2009) who stated that an artwork contains three basic parts, namely subject, form and content. Subject refers to a person, a thing or an idea while form refers to elements and principles of design that produce equal unity. On the other hand, content is a message or emotion in work, statement, expression or feeling desired by the artist and read by the observer. As a result of Rumah Kutai Perak artwork, an "Artwork Making Process Flow" has been identified. The process flow begins with identifying the subject and idea, followed by capturing the subject through photography. Photography record involved four important factors, such as viewpoint, light and shadow, focal point, and photo quality. These four factors are important because they will affect the final work. The next process is to paint and draw. The elements such as technique identification, colour value application, medium choice and reference artists served as guides for the researcher throughout the artwork making process. After the work is completed, an artist statement was written to describe the artwork. This artist statement informs the message to be conveyed through the artwork, a brief description of the making process, the sources of ideas, and the elements and principals in the artwork's processing. It is hoped that this work process can be used as a reference for other artists to produce artwork in the same context.

One effort to empower the implementation of construction projects in order to maintain the quality of the final work is the application of competency standards for workers who hold a strategic position in determining the quality of the final building, in this case plaster workers. The aims of this research was to know the application of plasterer competency standards based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) on building projects in Palu City. This research was conducted on plasterers of buildings in the city of Palu. The research method used was literature study, the primary data collection was done by distributing the questionnaires. The selected respondents were plasterers. Data were processed by using descriptive statistical methods and using the Relative Rank Index (RRI). The results showed that the application of plasterers' work competency standards based on SKKNI was around 80% to 90% which had been well implemented, namely, carrying out Preparation of Plastering Work, Carrying Out Plaster Mixing Mixes, Carrying Plaster Work. In addition, around 20% to 30% have not been well implemented, namely, the use of PPE and WSE, Making Job Reports.

Timing observations are carried out to determine the time spent on performing veterinary work by their types and elements. We compiled tables on the names of state veterinary services based on the study of one sample of pathological material by PCR, time and ELISA. The resulting time expenditures for the elements of work in several measurement indicators are compiled into statistical series. The arithmetic mean of the statistical series is determined. Indicators are used to establish scientifically based norms of time for performing various veterinary work. The time limit for one performer is usually set in minutes, when the work is performed by a group of performers - per person - in minutes. The annual rate of time spent on preparatory and final work is determined by multiplying the daily rate of time spent on the number of working days per year, i.e. for 279 days.
