The present research paper aims to confront the challenges of improving the quality of academic supervision of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Education, Damietta University, identifying the theoretical and conceptual framework for academic supervision of educational postgraduate studies. It also analyzes the reality and defines the challenges of academic supervision of educational postgraduate studies. The author adopted the descriptive and analytical method and applied the tool to a sample of (30) faculty members at the Faculty of Education, Damietta University. The study concluded that the heavy load of the supervisor, the tendency of the student to choose a supervisor in a certain position, and keenness of the student to carry out the study quickly without considering quality, and poor research skills among students are the most significant challenges of improving the quality of academic supervision. The study recommended abiding by the regulations of postgraduate studies that allow supervising several theses and dissertations to enable supervisors to follow up postgraduate students honestly and objectively. It also recommended the need to respect the desire of the student when choosing a supervisor.

The study was used to study the reality of the use of postgraduate students for e- mail. The descriptive descriptive method was used. The questionnaire was used as a tool for study، which averaged 1.99 and a standard deviation of 0.61. It was applied to 45 students from post- Different The results showed that postgraduate students have a desire to use e- mail in university education and to communicate with colleagues and faculty members. However، there are obstacles to their use. The faculty members do not encourage students to use e- mail، lack e- mail skills، Access to the internet laboratory at the college، the reluctance of faculty members to give their email address to students، network problems (slow) In the light of the results، a set of recommendations and proposals were presented to activate the use of e- mail in university education، especially among postgraduate students in the Faculty of Education and various Syrian and Arab universities

Abstract Background Poor communication at hospital discharge can increase the risk of adverse events. The hospital discharge summary is the most common tool for detailing events related to hospitalization in preparation for postdischarge follow-up, yet deficiencies in discharge summaries have been widely reported. Resident physicians are expected to dictate discharge summaries but receive little formal training in this arena. We hypothesized that implementation of an educational program on chart documentation skills would result in improvements in the quality of hospital discharge summaries in a community hospital internal medicine residency program. Methods A monthly, 1-hour workshop was launched in August 2007 to provide consistent and ongoing instruction on chart documentation. Guided by a faculty moderator, residents reviewed 2 randomly selected peer chart notes per session using instruments developed for that purpose. After the workshop had been in place for 2 years, 4 faculty members reviewed 63 randomly selected discharge summaries from spring 2007, spring 2008, and spring 2009 using a 14-item evaluation tool. Results Mean scores for 10 of the 14 individual items improved in a stepwise manner during the 3 years of the study. Items related to overall quality of the discharge summary showed statistically significant improvement, as did the portion of the summaries “carbon copied” to the responsible outpatient physician. Conclusions The quality of hospital discharge summaries improved following the implementation of a novel, structured program to teach chart documentation skills. Ongoing improvement was seen 1 and 2 years into the program, suggesting that continuing instruction in those skills was beneficial.

Academic staff shortage has become a huge challenge for African universities, and no respite seems to be in sight. This article argues characteristics of African universities: postgraduate student enrollment, gender distribution, master's and doctoral enrollees and program choices, graduation, retention, and completion rates. To regenerate academe, African tertiary institutions will not only have to improve the relative numbers, proportion, distribution, and quality of postgraduate students who enter but also ensure that these same characteristics are reflected in postgraduate output.

Since the dawn of democracy in 1994 there has been a proliferation of postgraduate programmes aimed at responding to the social, economic and political needs of the country. This has led to an increase in the number of students enrolling for postgraduate programmes in South Africa. Some students successfully complete their studies, while others eventually drop out without attaining their chosen qualifications owing to various factors they encounter on their research journey. This study sought to determine postgraduate students’ experiences in terms of the educational and research experience at Unisa; the support services and funding; quality of access to facilities; and initiation into the community of researchers. Theoretically, the study was underpinned by ergonomics theory. To answer the research questions, the study followed a concurrent mixed method design. The study’s participants were 78 postgraduate students at Unisa who had volunteered to be part of the study. A self-constructed questionnaire and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics while qualitative data used inductive thematic analysis. The findings indicate that students have a variety of experiences, both negative and positive, in their postgraduate studies.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore dimensions of perceived service quality in hospitals and to develop a conceptual framework showing relationship between hospital service quality, patient satisfaction and their behavioural intention. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based on extensive review of existing literature on hospital service quality, patient satisfaction and behavioural intention. Critical analysis of these literature studies has resulted in determining and defining the dimensions of perceived service quality and establishing relationship between hospital service quality, patient satisfaction and behavioural intention. Findings This study has identified six major areas through which patients perceive quality of service in hospitals. These six areas are technical quality, procedural quality, infrastructural quality, interactional quality, personnel quality, social support quality. Further 20 dimensions of hospital service quality are identified under these 6 major areas. These are clinical procedure, quality of outcome, admission, discharge, waiting time, patient safety, billing and price, follow-up, ambience, availability of resources, accessibility, food, staff attitude, personalised attention, information availability, staff competency, trustworthiness, staff diversity, hospital image and social responsibility. The conceptual framework proposes direct relationship between service quality, patient satisfaction and behavioural intention. Originality/value Though many studies have been conducted on hospital service quality, none of them has been able to project all the possible dimensions to measure the same. The “6-Q framework” developed by this study explores all the possible dimensions of perceived service quality in hospitals.

The article discusses the problems of Russian postgraduate studies improving, the goals and objectives of postgraduate training. The peculiarities of reforming the national postgraduate school, general and specific principles and forms of its improvement are considered. The author dwells on a highly specialized orientation of postgraduate training’s educational component. The emphasis is on the need of its restructuring in order to deepen the training of postgraduate students in the beginnings of their researcher profession. The article makes the case for establishing variable postgraduate training, which means focusing of the structure and content of postgraduate training on different types of graduates’ professional employment. In order to improve the quality of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel training, it is necessary to examine the possibilities of higher education resources to be integrated with the scientific potential of Russian Academy of Sciences research institutes. A brief description of the international experience in the field of scientists and teachers training is presented. A two-level model of postgraduate program is proposed. The postgraduate studies at the first level ensure obtaining the primary professional researcher qualification in industrial orientation, while at the second level, the task of transforming the graduate student into an independent active researcher is solved.

The argument quality in the discussion section of research articles determines the quality of the article but authors often find it very difficult to write especially when writing it in a foreign language. This study is aimed at investigating how Indonesian authors in multi- disciplines as non-native speakers of English discuss their research results in their English RAs. Fifty English RAs written by Indonesian authors in multi-disciplines published in Indonesian-based journals were analysed on the ways the authors discuss their research results and justify their new knowledge claims. The results show that, like international authors, Indonesian authors in multi-disciplines consider statement of results (Move-2), reference to previous research (Move-4), explanation (Move-5), and exemplification (Move-6) conventional or obligatory. They also consider explanation of the findings (Strategy-2), illustrating or exemplifying the findings (Strategy-4), and relating the findings with those in previous studies obligatory or conventional. The implication of these findings is for teaching Indonesian young faculty members and postgraduate students in writing convincingly argumentative discussion sections when writing RAs in English for international journal publication by including necessary moves and strategies.
