In modern era the increase in stress affects all domain of life. Job stress is a crucial problem and job performance is affected in a positive or negative manner. Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence are two important variables in organizational behavioral studies, and are key factors in promoting the efficiency of organizations. The present study was conducted to determine the correlation of job satisfaction and emotional intelligence of the employees. The study was conducted in 28 private and public primary schools to chalk out the association between job performance and job stress, moderated by using the emotional intelligence. This cross-sectional study was performed on 335 employees of Primary Schools, who were selected using convenient and random stratified method. Pre-tested questionnaires were administered to 335 school teachers to collect the information, which was then analyzed statistically by using the SPSS (23.0) measures. Bar-on emotional intelligence and job satisfaction questionnaires were used in this study. The result revealed that there was a direct positive association between job stress and job performance. This association helped to influence and improve the performance of the staff when moderated by emotional intelligence, which has a highly significant interactive role in this regard. The data were analyzed using statistical methods such as goodness of fit tests and regression and correlation analyses.

ABSTRACT Background: Theoretically, organizational commitment mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. An organization with more satisfied employees tends to be more effective and productive. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of job satisfaction and organization commitment on the performance of family planning counselors in Yogyakarta. Subjects and Method: A cross sectional study was conducted at 50 family planning counselor offices in Yogyakarta, from January to February 2020. A sample of 200 family planning counselors was selected by stratified random sampling. The dependent variable was job performance. The independent variables were job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Family planning counselor who had good job performance was 57.00%, high job satisfaction was 64.50%, and high commitment was 45.50%. Family planning counselor job performance increased with high satisfaction (OR= 8.84; 95% CI= 1.49 to 3.22; p<0.001) and strong organizational commitment (OR= 4.84; 95% CI= 0.89 to 2.47; p<0.001). Conclusion: Family planning counselor job performance increases with high satisfaction and strong organizational commitment. <em>In this study, the researcher has tried to identify the relationship of five dimensions of emotional intelligence (Self-Awareness, Managing Emotions, Emotional Maturity, Empathy and Social competency &amp; social skills) with job-satisfaction. 400 primary school teachers were randomly selected from 150 primary schools of district Meerut.  Self prepared Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS) and Teachers’ Job Satisfaction Scale’ (TJSS) developed by Dr. J.P. Srivastava and Dr. S.P. Gupta was used.  The data was analyzed with the help of SPSS-17 programme. The results of the study indicate that Emotional Intelligence is important have significant positive relationship with job satisfaction. Among all the five dimensions (self-awareness, managing emotions, maturity, empathy and social competency &amp; social skills) only managing emotions and maturity play major role in prediction of job satisfaction than the self awareness, empathy and social competency &amp; social skills, it means that emotional intelligence is good predictor of job satisfaction for primary school teachers. </em>

Low back pain is one of the major occupational health problems ranked the highest in terms of years lived with disability, and it has an economic burden on individuals and society in general. Hairdressers are high-risk professionals, but they are usually getting less attention in research and policy actions. The objective of this study is to assess the magnitude and associated factors of low back pain among hairdressers working in female beauty salons of Mekelle, Northern Ethiopia. A cross-sectional study was employed from January up to March 2018. A simple random sampling was applied to select 344 participants. Interviewer-administered, pretested, and structured questionnaire was used. Bivariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses were performed using SPSS version 23. A p value of <0.05 was used to declare statistical significance. A total of 314 hairdressers participated, with a 91.3% response rate. The study found that the prevalence of low back pain was 47.5% with 95% CI (41.8–53.1). Marital status (AOR: 0.40, 95% CI (0.23–0.71)), awkward posture (AOR: 2.59, 95%CI (1.45–4.63)), working greater than 4 days in a week (AOR: 5.12, 95% CI (1.94–13.70)), the task of washing the client’s hair (AOR: 4.45, 95% CI (1.93–10.26)), having adjustable washing basin (AOR: 0.35, 95% CI (0.18–0.69)), job stress (AOR: 0.45, 95% CI (0.27–0.77)), and job satisfaction (AOR: 0.58, 95% CI (0.34–0.98)) were factors that show a statistically significant association with low back pain. This study found that low back pain is a major health problem among hairdressers. Marital status, awkward postures, working days per week, the task of washing the client’s hair, adjustable washing basin, job stress, and job satisfaction show a strong association with low back pain. The result suggests that effective intervention strategies for low back pain need to include ergonomic improvements and psychosocial and behavioral aspects of the participants.

Background & Aim: Nursing shortage is a growing global challenge in healthcare organizations. Promoting nurses’ organizational commitment may help alleviate nursing shortage. This study sought to evaluate the relationships between organizational commitment, job satisfaction, organizational justice, and self-efficacy among nurses.   Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 401 Iranian nurses randomly selected through two-stage cluster sampling. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the SPSS (v.17.0) and the Amos (v.17.0) software. Results: The goodness of fit indices were as the following: χ2/df=2.76 (P<0.001), GFI=0.93; AGFI=0.87, NFI=0.96, RMSEA=0.068, and CFI=0.95. Organizational commitment had significant positive relationships with self-efficacy (β3=0.28, P<0.001) and job satisfaction (γ3=0.73, P<0.001), while organizational justice had significant positive relationship with job satisfaction (γ2=0.89, P<0.001). Moreover, job satisfaction had a mediating role in the relationship of organizational justice with organizational commitment. Conclusion: Hospital managers can promote nurses’ organizational commitment through employing strategies to enhance their perceived organizational justice and thereby, improving their job satisfaction.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan menyusun strategi peningkatan cakupan program pokok Puskesmas berdasarkan analisis efektivitas tim, work attitude dan job performance unit kerja Puskesmas di Kabupaten Gresik. Jenis Penelitian adalah penilitian analitik dengan metode observasional yang bersifat cross sectional study dengan populasi seluruh unit kerja program pokok Puskesmas di Kabupaten Gresik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa work attitude unit kerja termasuk dalam kategori cukup dengan penilaian terendah pada subvariabel organizational commitment. Job performance unit kerja termasuk dalam kategori cukup dengan penilaian terendah pada OCB khususnya dimensi conscientiousness. Cakupan program pokok Pukskesmas di Kabupaten Gresik termasuk dalam kategori baik. Peningkatan cakupan program pokok Puskesmas dapat dilakukan dengan cara meningkatkan job satisfaction, job involvement, organizational commitment dan in role performance unit kerja Puskesmas.

Introduction. Nurses and physicians working in the intensive care unit (ICU) may be exposed to considerable job stress. The study aim was to assess the level of and the relationship between (1) job satisfaction, (2) job stress, and (3) burnout symptoms.Methods. A cross-sectional study was performed at ICUs at Oslo University Hospital. 145 of 196 (74%) staff members (16 physicians and 129 nurses) answered the questionnaire. The following tools were used: job satisfaction scale (scores 10–70), modified Cooper's job stress questionnaire (scores 1–5), and Maslach burnout inventory (scores 1–5); high score in the dimension emotional exhaustion (EE) indicates burnout. Personality was measured with the basic character inventory. Dimensions were neuroticism (vulnerability), extroversion (intensity), and control/compulsiveness with the range 0–9.Results. Mean job satisfaction among nurses was 43.9 (42.4–45.4) versus 51.1 (45.3–56.9) among physicians,P<0.05. The mean burnout value (EE) was 2.3 (95% CI 2.2–2.4), and mean job stress was 2.6 (2.5–2.7), not significantly different between nurses and physicians. Females scored higher than males on vulnerability, 3.3 (2.9–3.7) versus 2.0 (1.1–2.9) (P<0.05), and experienced staff were less vulnerable, 2.7 (2.2–3.2), than inexperienced staff, 3.6 (3.0–4.2) (P<0.05). Burnout (EE) correlated with job satisfaction (r=-0.4,P<0.001), job stress (r=0.6,P<0.001), and vulnerability (r=0.3,P=0.003).Conclusions. The nurses were significantly less satisfied with their jobs compared to the physicians. Burnout mean scores are relatively low, but high burnout scores are correlated with vulnerable personality, low job satisfaction, and high degree of job stress.

Nurse managers’ workload is considered overwhelming and the resources and support insufficient. Stress from workload has adverse psychological and physical effects and impedes strategic, visible and active leadership. This study aimed to examine nurse managers’ stress from workload and its associations to overall job stress, job satisfaction and practice environment. A survey comprising the Nursing Context Index was administered to 490 nurse managers in Finnish central hospitals. The study was reported using the STROBE statement. The response rate was 42.7% ( n = 209). A statistical analysis revealed that almost every fifth nurse manager experienced high stress from workload with connection to higher job stress overall, higher intent to leave the organization, lower job satisfaction overall, personally and professionally, as well as a more negative perception of the practice environment. Nurse managers’ jobs require adequate resources, clear division of work and better empowering structures.
