The paper is aimed at the attraction of attention of geologists, project engineers and those who operate engineering structures to the necessity of considering real parameters of technical vibrations from various sources in evaluation of the existing and designed soil bases as well as in methodic questions of these parameters’ measurements. In this connection the paper discusses present state of knowledge in measurement and evaluation of vibrations impact on natural and artificial soil massifs along with a brief presentation of theoretical basis of modern vibrometry. It also presents a variant of vibrations classification and discusses engineering geological and geophysical research methods for evaluation of soil behaviour under the influence of vibrations. Information from such studies is analyzed on the example of vibration loads from railway. In conclusions the paper also mentions some important issues of standards for vibration measurements development.

The article given presents the results of geophysical research of the certain types of geodynamical phenomenon, which is generally located on areas with permafrost soil layers. The detailed description to the research methods of refracting interface of the technogenic thawing ground area under the conditions of flooded pressure by refraction and reflection methods is given. Setting of the problem and detection of the nature of the changes in the properties and configuration of the permafrost and thawed soil layers in the grounds of embankment is practically solved by the integrated application of seismic methods that in theory have different kinematics due to propagation of elastic waves and methods of interpretation the seismic profile.

The following comments reflect on the present state of Peruvian-led research archaeology and its prospects for the future, from the viewpoint of a friend, colleague but notably as an outsider. As such this piece is informed by both personal experience and the informed opinions of local Peruvian investigators who, for reasons that will become apparent, have opted for anonymity. The essential premise here is that the intellectual and financial basis of archaeology in Peru is at a critical stage, and a major part of this article is to see how the next generation can negotiate this quagmire; and believe me for all the myriad problems there are important rays of light that could significantly and positively alter the state of Peruvian archaeology. With this in mind, in this brief essay I consider the research environment, the theoretical basis, and the means by which research projects and resource mitigation are carried out, and summarise some of the challenges that archaeologists living and working in Peru now face. A recent, thorough treatise of the history and state of Peruvian archaeology can be found in Shimada and Vega-Centeno (2011).

AbstractCorrelation of Rodinian and Gondwanan crustal domains relies on a thorough knowledge of those vestiges preserved today. The Bunger Hills hold a critical place in East Antarctica, recording the Mesoproterozoic assembly of Australo-Antarctica in Rodinia and the Neoproterozoic–Cambrian amalgamation of Indo- and Australo-Antarctica in Gondwana. It is situated in a region of disputed overlap between the different components of Rodinia and Gondwana, where there is little consensus on the location of sutures in this region and thus often speculative geological interpretations. The Bunger Hills therefore provide an opportunity to better understand the tectonic setting and palaeogeography during the assembly of these supercontinents. Recent work has confirmed that the Bunger Hills are one of few rare outcrops in Wilkes Land, East Antarctica that can be directly correlated with the broader Musgrave–Albany–Fraser–Wilkes Orogen (MAFWO). Whilst other constituent terranes of the MAFWO have been intensely studied, our geological knowledge of the Bunger Hills was comparatively limited until recently. In light of recent geological and geophysical developments, this contribution serves as an updated and concise standalone reference for the present state of knowledge of the Neoarchean–Cambrian evolution of the Bunger Hills region.

Development of the country’s economy, industrial and economic infrastructure is impossible without the use of oil and gas, as well as their products. Ukraine does not fully meet its own needs for fuel and energy resources. An important role in the solving of this issue belongs to geophysical research methods, their integrated complex and the types of geological and geophysical researches. In many cases, the materials of geophysical research methods are the main ones with respect to the geological documentation of wells that were drilled for the search and exploration of productive reservoirs. Domestic oil and gas service companies need government support to increase quality of geological and geophysical services, updating the equipment fleet, and ground equipment, introducing modern technologies to enable the development of equal competition with foreign companies both in the domestic and global markets.

The research questions in this issue include the following: the first is the problem of usual meaning of neologisms. During the coronavirus pandemic there has been a flurry of new words and phrases in many languages. Such a linguistic phenomenon can be called an extreme peak in the appearance of new words and meanings. The second is the problem of assessment, the need for lexicographying such words in the explanatory dictionary, in particular, in the multivolume Dictionary of the Russian Language of the 21st century (ed. by G. N. Sklyarevskaya). General characteristics of the covid dictionary (more than 600 units), formed at the moment in Russian, are described in the article. The theoretical basis of the category of lexical neologisms is the N.Z. Kotelova’s theory, who founded an academic neographic school. She developed the principles of selecting neologisms in explanatory dictionaries and formulated specifics of those words. The article attempts to analyze covid lexemes and proposes a preliminary toolkit for selecting lexemes that can be considered as potentially usual. Almost 140 covid nominations, which make up about 23 % of the collected corpus of COVID vocabulary, have high potentiality for new words'usualisation. Research methods in this issue are: systemic, classification, statistical, deductive, inductive.

Yunnan province has rich natural resources with high species diversities because of its unique ecological environments, while the abundance of genera of seed plants endemic in Yunnan ranked the top one in China. But there are several shortcomings influence the research and the protection on genera of seed plants endemic in Yunnan. Firstly, the storage of relevant knowledge and data of genera of seed plants endemic in Yunnan is dispersion; secondly, the structure of the data system is poor; thirdly, the format and standard database is not unified. In order to improve the above shortcomings, this paper will built an ontology knowledge database for Yunnan genera of seed plants endemic based on ontology, geography ontology and ontology integration technologies. This new ontology knowledge database will apply new technologies and theoretical basis for the further macroscopic research on Yunnan genera of seed plants endemic. And it will apply scientific decision and research methods for optimization adjustment on distribution of genera of seed plants endemic in Yunnan.
