The paper contains the results of classification of rivers and streams of the Republic of Moldova according to classic Strahler method. Mentioned method was applied to estimate the hierarchical rank of the stream segments situated in 50 pilot basins using modern GIS techniques and drainage network of the GIS for Water Resources of Moldova. It was estimated that the maximal order of segments is 7 specific for the Raut and Ialpug rivers. Overall, length of 1st order streams forms 50%, while that of 7th order streams - < 1%. Additionally, stream number and frequency as well as drainage density were calculated for pilot river basins.

The purpose of this study is assessment of water use in the Central Region of the Republic of Moldova. The main topics presented in this paper are: 1) assessment of water resources in the Central Region of the Republic of Moldova; 2) tendencies of water consumption on the abstracted sources and on the main usage categories; 3) spatial and branch analysis of water use; 5) the main problems of water use and protection in the region of study. In the region of study are concentrated about 2/3 of groundwater reserves of Republic of Moldova. From surface sources is abstracted ≈3/4 of total volume of water used and over 60% of water is used by households. Outside of Chisinau, over 70% of the water is abstracted from underground sources and is used for various agricultural needs. In the 2007-2017 years, the volume of water use registers a significant decrease which is conditioned, mainly, by decreasing of water abstracted from surface sources and used for agricultural activities, especially for irrigation.

Introduction. The performed analysis of coverage of migration issues in electronic media shows that hate speech against migrants is becoming common practice despite the existing regulatory restrictions on its use. This determined the choice of this issue for the research, aimed at studying the causes, forms and contexts of using hate speech against migrants (the case study of the Republic of Mordovia). Materials and Methods. Texts on migration issues published in electronic versions of regional media were used as the materials of the study; discourse analysis was used as the main method. Results. The main reason for using hate speech against migrants has been identified; it is reproduction of negative clichés and stereotypes that contribute to the perception of migrants as a source of economic, health, environmental, personal, social, political threats, etc. The authors have proposed the content and formal criteria for classification of hate speech against migrants. Recommendations on limiting the use of hate speech against migrants in public discourse have been offered. Recommendations of this kind are usually associated with a change in rhetoric at the textual and contextual levels; however the authors consider a change in coverage and perception of migration issues at the metacontextual level to be the most important factor. Discussion and Conclusion. The research materials will be useful in developing migration policies and measures to harmonize social relations in the region. The data obtained can be used by state and municipal authorities, journalists, and representatives of the educational community.
