The main purpose of this study is to examine the effects of health workers’ levels of work commitment on the levels of depression and burnout.  Having this purpose in mind, a questionnaire consisting of personal information form, work commitment scale, burnout scale and depression scale was conducted with 266 health workers of İstanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital in May 2013. Data obtained from questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS 17,0 statistical software. Correlation analysis was utilized in order to determine the relationships among work commitment, burnout and depression levels of health workers whereas regression analysis was utilized in order to determine the effects of health workers’ levels of work commitment on the levels of depression and burnout. According to the results, it has been found that there are statistically relevant relationships among work commitment, burnout and depression levels of health workers. It has been concluded that the more health workers’ levels of work commitment increase, their levels of depression and burnout decrease.

Abstract Background Although the World Health Organization and health authorities in most countries recommend that pregnant women receive inactivated influenza virus vaccines, coverage remains low. This study aimed to investigate (1) the proportion of pregnant women who received an influenza vaccination and influencing factors and (2) the proportion of obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) doctors who routinely recommend influenza vaccination to pregnant women and influencing factors. Methods Two separate, anonymized questionnaires were developed for physicians and pregnant and postpartum women and were distributed to multicenters and clinics in South Korea. The proportions of women who received influenza vaccination during pregnancy and OBGYN doctors who routinely recommend the influenza vaccine to pregnant women were analyzed. Independent influencing factors for both maternal influenza vaccination and OBGYN doctors’ routine recommendations to pregnant women were analyzed using log-binomial regression analysis. Results The proportion of self-reported influenza vaccination during pregnancy among 522 women was 63.2%. Pregnancy-related independent factors influencing maternal influenza vaccination were “(ever) received information about influenza vaccination during pregnancy” (OR 8.9, 95% CI 4.17–19.01), “received vaccine information about from OBGYN doctors” (OR 11.44, 95% CI 5.46–24.00), “information obtained from other sources” (OR 4.38, 95% CI 2.01–9.55), and “second/third trimester” (OR 2.41, 95% CI 1.21–4.82).. Among 372 OBGYN doctors, 76.9% routinely recommended vaccination for pregnant women. Independent factors effecting routine recommendation were “working at a private clinic or hospital” (OR 5.33, 95% CI 2.44–11.65), “awareness of KCDC guidelines” (OR 3.11, 95% CI 1.11–8.73), and “awareness of the 2019 national free influenza vaccination program for pregnant women” (OR 4.88, 95% CI 2.34–10.17). OBGYN doctors most commonly chose ‘guidelines proposed by the government or public health (108, 46%) and academic committees (59, 25%), as a factor which expect to affect the future recommendation Conclusion This study showed that providing information about maternal influenza vaccination, especially by OBGYN doctors, is crucial for increasing vaccination coverage in pregnant women. Closer cooperation between the government and OBGYN academic societies to educate OBGYN doctors might enhance routine recommendations.

AbstractThis study aimed to examine demographic and clinical variables, psychiatric comorbidities, the prevalence of psychotropic drug use, relationships between drug use, demographic and clinical variables, and predictors of drug use in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) admitted to a training and research hospital outpatient clinic. Four hundred and eleven children with ASD admitted to the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Sami Ulus Maternity and Children's Health and Diseases Training and Research Hospital, between October 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019, were retrospectively reviewed. Demographic and clinical variables, psychiatric comorbidities, and characteristics of drug use for the cases were recorded. Psychotropic drug use was found in 34.3% (n = 141) of the cases. Our results revealed male sex and psychiatric comorbidity as predictors of psychotropic drug use. Antipsychotics were the most prescribed drugs, and the most common psychiatric comorbidity was conduct disorder. Also, children with ASD who had been toilet-trained, and could express sentences but were illiterate, were using psychotropic drugs more often than others. Future multicentered, large clinic-based studies from training and research hospitals should focus on trends of treatment in psychiatric comorbidities accompanying ASD, and constitute a systematic approach for the psychopharmacological treatment of these cases.

The objective: generalization of the experience of using chlorhexidine drugs in obstetric and gynecological practice. Materials and methods. The efficacy of using Depantol and Hexicon for non-specific colpitis in patients of adolescent, reproductive age, pregnant women, women in perimenopause, as well as in patients after cervical, vaginal and perineal operations was evaluated and generalized. The surveyed groups contained 30 to 50 patients. The diagnosis of nonspecific vaginitis was verified by clinical and laboratory examination. Criteria for recovery were complete clinical and bacterial sanation. The effectiveness of therapy was evaluated immediately after treatment and after 1 and 3 months. The data were compared with the appropriate control groups or with the condition prior to treatment. Results. High efficiency of chlorhexidine preparations in the treatment of nonspecific colpitis in patients of different age categories and conditions was noted. The experience of using Depantol and Gecikon in obstetrics and gynecology is generalized, priorities are determined in the application of these drugs. Conclusion. Preparations of chlorhexidine Geksikon and Depantol are highly effective against the main pathogens of inflammatory nonspecific vulvovaginitis. They do not interfere with the functional activity of lactobacilli, which helps maintain a normal vaginal biocenosis. The drug Geksikon with success can be recommended both for the treatment of gynecological patients of reproductive age, and pregnant women. The use of Depantol, due to the regenerative activity of the dexpanthenol component, is a priority in the treatment of infectious processes in adolescence, perimenopausal age and in patients after operations on the cervix, vagina and perineum. Key words: chlorhexidine preparations, obstetrics and gynecology, Depantol, Geksikon.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) infections are a significant threat to public health due to the limited availability of antibiotics and the effect on mortality. This study was conducted retrospectively to determine the prevalence of CRE in a teaching and research hospital in Istanbul. Materials and Methods: In 2016, 2017 and in the first half of 2018 Klebsiella species were evaluated retrospectively in culture samples that were sent to Microbiology Laboratory in an educational hospital. The typing of Klebsiella species were performed with MALDITOF-MS device (Biomerieux, France). Imipenem, merapenem, ertapenem susceptibilities of the strains were evaluated with VITEC2 Compact (Biomerieux, France) according to EUCAST (European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing). If the strains were found to be resistant, the results were confirmed by the antibiotic gradient test. Results: In our study, 257 samples; Klebsiella oxytoca 9 (3.49%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae 248 (96.51%) were detected. 130 endotracheal aspirates, 57 wounds, 34 blood, 15 urine, 9 sputum, 3 catheters, 4 tissue biopsies, 2 mediastinum, 2 peritoneal fluid and 1 pleural fluid strains were identified. While none of the Klebsiella oxytoca strains were resistant to carbapenems, the percentages of Klebsiella pneumoniae resistance against imipenem, merapenem and ertapenem were found to be 23.29%, 16.94% and 29.44% respectively. Conclusion: The increasing problem of carbapenem-resistant (CR) Klebsiella pneumoniae in the last decade has been observed in our hospital for the last 2 years. CR strains often show increased resistance to other antibiotics and their treatment possibilities are limited. It increases the importance of controlling this factor. The application of effective infection control programs and the use of rational antibiotics are of great importance.
