Many educational institutions use a number of technologies in classrooms to promote the effectiveness of learning activities. In recent years, tablet PCs have become the primary of these technologies. Tablet PCs in particular play an important role in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the process of learning and teaching. In order to reveal this effect of tablet PCs on learning-teaching and to ensure that tablet PCs are used effectively by teachers, development of favorable attitudes by teachers towards computers and elimination of anxiety about using these devices are of utmost importance. The purpose of this study is to determine primary school and Turkish teachers’ anxiety level about using tablet PCs in the process of learning and teaching. To this end, the anxiety scale for tablet PC assisted teaching developed by the researcher was administrated to the teachers. In order to determine the teachers’ anxiety level about using tablet PC in teaching, cross-sectional survey technique was used in the research. According to the results of the research, Turkish teachers’ anxiety level about teaching with tablet PC was found to be higher than that of primary school teachers. Also, in both branches of teaching, females have higher anxiety level about teaching with tablet PC than males. The findings of the research suggest that teachers should be provided with adequate training in using tablet PCs and integration of tablet PCs into educational activities, and that the technical infrastructure should be arranged accordingly.

Self-efficacy and spatial anxiety towards geometry are stated to be effective to improve teachers' attitudes towards geometry. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the effect of geometry self-efficacy and spatial anxiety on attitude towards geometry. This determines the extent to which the pre-service primary school teachers’ geometry self-efficacy and spatial anxiety predict their attitudes towards geometry. The study used the cross-sectional survey model and the sample was determined with the convenience sampling method. The sample consists of 165 pre-service primary school teachers attending a state university. To collect the data, the geometry self-efficacy scale, the spatial anxiety scale, and the geometry attitude scale were used. Multiple regression analysis was conducted in the data analysis to explain the predictors of the attitude towards geometry. It was found that the pre-service teachers’ geometry self-efficacy beliefs and spatial anxiety were high while their geometry attitude was medium. Their geometry self-efficacy positively and significantly correlated with the attitude towards geometry and negatively and significantly correlated with spatial anxiety. While the sub-dimensions of geometry self-efficacy; positive self-efficacy beliefs, use of geometry knowledge, and negative self-efficacy beliefs had positive effects on the attitude towards geometry, spatial anxiety had a negative effect on the attitude towards geometry.

Instruction materials help students to acquire more memorable information. Instruction materials have an important effect on providing more permanent and simple way of learning in every step of education. Instruction materials are the most frequently used by primary school teachers. Primary school teachers should support their lectures with instruction materials in order to provide permanent learning. The Teaching Technologies and Material Designing (TTMD) course which is one of the compulsory courses that students must take aims to acquire students the information and skills related with the preparation and use of materials. Evaluation of TTMD course is important in terms of the effectiveness of the course which provides the opportunity of motivating the students to learn by attracting their attention, keeping their attentions alive, making abstract concepts more concrete, facilitating the acquisition of knowledge in an organized way in the process of learning and teaching. In this context, it was aimed to determine the opinions of students in the department of primary school teaching about preparation and use of materials through teaching practice which is done within TTMD course in this study. This study is a descriptive study based on qualitative data. The sample of this research included 37 students from the department of primary school teaching who took TTMD course in the second semester in 2014-2015 academic year at Ataturk Education Faculty of Near East University or students who took this course in previous academic years. The data of this research were collected with structured interview form. According to the results, it was revealed that primary school teachers’ candidates attach importance to prepare and use materials based on their answers about the use and preparation of materials in instruction. When the opinions of primary school teachers candidates about the criteria that they give value in preparing and using materials, it was figured out that they emphasize the criteria such as suitability for student level, suitability for aim, simplicity and easy comprehensibility. Furthermore, the results indicated that primary school teachers’ candidates mostly experience difficulty in finding suitable materials and tools for the aim. It was also revealed that the majority of primary school teachers’ candidates stated that they will use materials and a few of them indicated that they will not use materials since they find materials as insufficient based on their answers about the question asking if they will use the materials which they prepared in TTMD course when they begin teaching profession. Keywords: primary school, primary teaching candidates, teaching technologies and material designing (TTMD) course, material design, instruction materials

ABSTRACT Objectives To assess the oral health status and treatment needs among Government and Private primary school teachers in Mathura city. Materials and Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted upon 650 primary school teachers who were randomly selected from the 5 zones of Mathura city. The oral health status and treatment needs were recorded using standard WHO proforma 1997 (modified). Results The mean DMFT was found to be higher in Government school teachers than the Private school teachers. It was seen that among Government school teachers, 12.6 percent and among the Private school teachers 18.5 percent had healthy periodontal tissue (code 0). Majority of the school teachers both from Government and Private schools showed the prevalence of shallow pockets. Conclusion In conclusion the results of the study showed the increased prevalence of gum diseases, periodontitis and dental caries in Government schoolteachers as compared to Private schoolteachers. Regular dental check- ups and practice of routine oral hygiene procedures will enable them to lead a healthier life.

Learning about the conceptions used by primary school teachers towards the use of robotics in class is essential as the first step towards its application in the classroom. Therefore, with the purpose of describing the understanding applied when teaching and learning mathematics use educational robots, research was conducted by means of mixed methods using a descriptive design by survey. Such research consisted of closed questions (Likert-type scale from 1 to 5) and open questions, given to 83 primary school teachers who currently teach students in the first years of school (First to Fourth grade) in two Chilean districts. The results showed that in general, there is a positive predisposition towards the addition of robots in the learning and teaching of mathematic processes during the first years of school, even though teachers claim there is a struggle to incorporate robots in their lessons due to the high number of students and the reduced space in their classrooms.
