This study aims to know the time between apple production and marketing to help decision makers for apple products at Washington, in the USA. In order to do so, it needs an application of OLS for a linear and non- linear model for diameter apples and length apple over the years 2010-2013. The diameter or size apple linear model includes DAFB, FB, latitude, mean80, years, and FB. The results indicated that all independent variables are significant and Adj R-squared explains about 75 percent of diameter apple. While the length apple linear model includes DAFB, years, FB, longitude, elevation, latitude, mean120, and mean70.The resulted sate that all independent variables are significant and Adj-R-squares illuminates about 84percent of size apple. Moreover, Actual value and predicted values for linear and nonlinear models are very close. Thus, those models can help farmers make a good decision for apple industry, and achieve to get best size and length for their apple crop.

Sixty subjects worked a series of sequential decision making tasks in which the amount of information provided and feedback of results were the independent variables. Data were collected on decision accuracy, confidence in decision accuracy, and judged sufficiency of the information provided. Accuracy, confidence in accuracy, and ratings of sufficiency increased as amount of information provided was increased. Feedback produced increases in decision accuracy only. For forty percent of all correct responses, subjects judged the information provided to be insufficient as a basis for taking action. These data strongly suggest that lack of confidence in their ability to make accurate decisions may cause some decision makers to delay taking action even when they are able to make an accurate decision on the basis of the information available.

Fuzzy regression analysis is an extension of the classical regression analysis that is used in evaluating the functional relationship between the dependent and independent variables in a fuzzy environment. Accounting dividend is the most important information used by decision makers in the economic analysis. This research investigated corporate governance and dividend policy in listed company's Tehran Stock exchange by fuzzy regression during 2010 and 2012. The results indicated that significant and positive relationship exists between financial performance (stock returns) and dividend policy and also there was a significant and negative relationship exists between economic performance (EVA) and dividend policy. Furthermore, a significant relationship exists between controlling variable (size) and dividend policy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the adjustment of mathematical models for determining Bauhinia monandra leaf area using the length and/or width of the leaves as independent variables. Leaves from plants with three years were used to the estimative of equations in linear, quadratic and potential models. The validation from the estimated leaf area as a function of the observed leaf area showed that the linear model based on the product of length and width of the largest leaf surface is the model that best fits. However, the leaf area determination can be represented by using only the length or width of the leaves with little loss of accuracy. A representation that better estimates Bauhinia monandra leaf area with easy application is the potential model in which xi represents the length of one of the symmetrical leaf lobes.

Apple is a high-value import fruit in Indonesia. One of the Apple production centers in Indonesia is Batu City, but the results tend to be declining in every year. To fulfill the demand of domestic apple industry, it is than a must to open new plantation land by observing the spatial factor. Expert and direct field review are needed to perform the analysis of land suitability, so that it will takes a lot of time and effort. Therefore, a smart system that can conduct geospatial analysis by using fuzzy inference system is developed. The data was obtained by using satellite imagery, data interpolation, and digitized and then analyzed into information. The analysis was performed on each pixel with six variable inputs including altitude, rainfall, humidity, air temperature, soil type and sun shine intensity. Besides that, the five-clustering output makes the results more accurate. From the results of the accuracy test, it is obtained a 92,86% accuracy, by comparing the results of the spatial analysis using fuzzy inference system with direct review on the field.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify location factors that Chinese managers look for when making internationalization decisions and how the factors stack up in perceived importance. Over the past ten years, Chinese enterprises have become more multi-national in nature. China’s outward foreign direct investment (FDI) has been growing at a phenomenal rate. In 2012, China became the third largest investor, after the USA and Japan; and the largest investor among developing countries. How can host governments attract more of this Chinese capital? What are some short- to medium-term policies that host governments can initiate to make their respective nations attractive to Chinese companies? Design/methodology/approach The authors consider these questions by using a best-worst choice exercise among 114 senior corporate decision makers of Chinese companies who have or are planning to globalize. We rank 16 most common determinants that influence FDI location choice and evaluate their degree of importance. Findings The authors propose five “low hanging fruits” that policy makers should consider that could ensure their countries come within the radar of Chinese multi-nationals. These include promoting a clean and efficient business environment and strengthening/establishing political and economic relationships with China. Originality/value The originality of this study lies in the methodology of the study that forces respondents to make a trade-off in their decisions, which in a way is closer to reality. The respondents are also actual decision makers in their companies with regards to international investment decisions.

The objective of the present study was to identify critical formulation parameters affecting the drug release from modified release wax matrix tablet of milnacipran hydrochloride employing the concept of design of experiments.The optimized amount of Compritol 888 ATO(intragranular) (X1), lactose (X2) and Compritol 888ATO (extragranular)(X3) were determined employing simplex latticedesign. The tablets were prepared using melt granulation technique. The in vitro drug release study was carried out in an acidic medium (pH 1.2) for 2 h and thereafter the dissolution study was conducted in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8).The selected dependent variables were the cumulative percentage of milnacipran hydrochloride dissolved at 1 (Y1), 8 (Y8), 16 (Y16) and 24 h (Y24). Mathematical models, correlating the independent variables with dependent variables were evolved. Optimization was performed for the three independent variables using the stated target ranges; Y1≤20%; Y8=45±5%; Y16=72±5%; Y24=100%. The optimized amounts of Compritol ATO888 (intragranular)(X1), lactose (X2) and Compritol 888ATO (extragranular)(X3), were found to be 60, 55 and 30 mg, respectively.The optimized formulation showed a release profile that was close to the predicted values. The drug was released by anomalous diffusion from the optimized formulation. Compritol 888ATO (intragranular) (X1), lactose (X2) and Compritol 888ATO(extragranular) (X3) were identified as critical variables.

The COVID-19 pandemic created a profound challenge for universities and colleges. In the USA, the response to the viral outbreak within institutions of higher education was largely driven by individual decision-makers, including professors, department chairs, and deans. As a professor of geography, the author undertook auto-ethnography as both process and product, a way to learn about his competencies and coping strategies, his social interactions and responses, and his engagements with social power relations from a particular positionality. As a scholar with longstanding interest in communication media, the author focused on a trajectory from the campus to the home office, from place-based scholarship to the online contexts of «distance learning», from in-place communications to dependence on digital technologies. The study reveals resilience and adaptation but also incompleteness and fragility.

<p>In this paper, we examine the determinants of cost and revenue efficiency of Malaysian banks over the period 2006-2012. Three steps are undertaken to study a sample of 17 Islamic banks (IBs) and 20 conventional banks (CBs). In the first step, we assessed the competitiveness of the Malaysian banking sector. After solving the multicollinearity problem, as a second step, we selected three sets of independent variables: bank-specific, industry-specific and macroeconomic variables. In the last step, we estimated the efficiency models with the Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) method. The obtained results highlighted the importance of regulatory capital and size. As for the effect of competitiveness, it is found to be statistically significant only for revenue efficiency. These results may be useful to political decision-makers and regulatory authorities.</p>

The float formulation is a strategy to improve the bioavailability of drugs by gastroretentive drug delivery system (GRDDS). A drug delivery model based on swellable and reswellable low density biopolymers has been designed to evaluate its drug release profile using ranitidine (RNT) as a model drug and formulations have been prepared utilizing 32factorial designs. The drug release (DR) data has been subjected to various kinetic models to investigate the DR mechanism. A reduction in rate has been observed by expanding the amounts of PSG and LSG parts, while an expansion has been noted by increasing the concentration of tragacanth (TG) and citric acid (CA) with an increment in floating time. The stearic acid (SA) has been used to decrease the lag time because a decrease in density of system was observed. The kinetic analysis showed that the optimized formulation (S4F3) followed zero-order kinetics and power law was found to be best fitted due to its minimum lag time and maximum floating ability. The resemblance of observed and predicted values indicated the validity of derived equations for evaluating the effect of independent variables while kinetic study demonstrated that the applied models are feasible for evaluating and developing float for RNT.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop an integrated management structure for the identification and evaluation of Palestine’s heritage, although the unending Israeli occupation poses a huge, multi-faceted constraint. Necessarily, the approach chosen considers aptly the local culture, values, dynamics and context, assimilating the significance of a broader range of different, diverse historical and cultural resources with a variety of meanings, tangible and otherwise, across various sections of the population. Design/methodology/approach – A multi-technique strategy emphasized the combination of between-technique triangulation in the implementation to enhance and improve substantially the related internal legitimacy of the investigation. A thorough exploration was executed via field investigation survey, meetings with the local communities and conservation questionnaires. Equally useful was the second method employed to gain valuable information on the transformation of conservation activities in highly diverse geological and cultural cases in the USA, France and Egypt. Findings – This research consequently produced a much needed, important approach for the recognition, assessment and administration of Palestine’s ancient cultural assets with respect to native culture, standards, non-static aspects and boundaries. Originality/value – The study assists the authorities and decision makers in developing mechanisms for the management of the cultural heritage that would stop the expansion of Israeli settlements as a form of non-violent resistance.
