The inhibition of corrosion on mild steel in 1M HCl solution was evaluated by utilizing carrot (Daucus carota L.) peels (CP) extract. Study performed by gravimetric and Potentiodynamic polarization techniques. Various concentrations of CP extracts ranging from 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 (v/v) were used and corrosion rate (CR) on mild steel and inhibition efficiency (IE) were investigated at three temperatures (298K, 308K, and 323K). Corrosion rate increase with the increase in temperature. As inhibitor concentration increases, corrosion rate decreases and IE decreases at elevated temperature. The substantial reduction in CR with the increase in the concentration of CP extract was noted at studied temperatures. However, the increase in the CR at each CP extract along with the increase in the temperature tallied to the increase in kinetic activities at the electrolyte and metal interface. Results show that with the increase of 0.5 g/l CP extract, about 3 times lower CR of mild steel at studied temperatures than in pure 1M HCl solution affirm its robust inhibitive efficiency. Comparatively large change in the anodic Tafel slope and gradual decline in CR with an increase in the CP extract concentration confirmed the restricted dissolution of mild steel. Surface examination suggest that a layer of inhibitor material adsorbed on the surface of mild steel at low temperature is responsible for high IE and this phenomenon is characterized as chemisorption. Weight loss data used to test three well known adsorption isotherm Langmuir, Temkin and Freundlich models and found that data is fitted well to all the models to certain extent however Freundlich Isotherm is found to be best fitted with as the correlation coefficient (R2) values reaching to unity, which showed the applicability of the models to the process.

The aim of the present work is to investigate the inhibitory effect of the aerial part of Daucus carota L essential oil (EO) on mild steel in a 1.0M HCl solution. The electrochemical study is performed using potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements in the presence of various concentrations of the examined Daucus carota L essential oil (EO). PDP results show that the studied EO behaved as a mixed-type inhibitor. EIS measurements indicated that the EO could inhibit the corrosion of mild steel by the formation of a protective film on the surface of mild steel. The experimental results showed an efficiency of 96.5% for a concentration of 2 g/l. In addition, The DFT results proved that the major components, especially -pinene (23.5%), -Bisabolene (3.96%), and Pseudo limonene (7.20%) having a high electron-accepting ability and interact actively with the iron surface, which may be responsible for the inhibition ability of the investigated EO. Furthermore, the computational complies with the experimental data.

The Weight loss was employed to investigate the impact of triazole on mild-steel dissolution in 0.5 M HCl solution. The inhibitor’s inhibition efficiency was seen to increase with concentration yielding (81.61%,82.61%,88.29%,91.64%,94.32%) of (T9, T8, T6, T4, T1) at concentration 1×10-4 M HCl, at a temperature of 25°C for 240 min. At a temperature range from 25–45°C, we studied the temperature impact on the corrosion behavior, wherein the results demonstrated decrease in inhibition efficiency with rising in temperature to achieve (61.7%, 52.26%, 63.1%, 72.11%, 75.77 %) of (T9, T8, T6, T4 and T1) at a concentration of 1×10-4 M, at a temperature 45°C for 240 min. A study was also performed regarding the impact of temperature on the corrosion rate in the presence and absence of triazole. The activation energy and Kinetic parameters were calculated and discussed. Polarization curves revealed that the studied inhibitors represent a mixed – type inhibitors. Adsorption of inhibitors was found to obey Langmuir isotherm and was isotherm physisorption type.

The behavior of people who less consume vegetables and fruit can have a negative impact on health. The lack of appetite for vegetable consumption by the society made the researchers interested in making a combination of vegetables, namely carrots with local foods, namely Baroncong.This research aims to determine the acceptability of local baroncong snacks with the addition of carrots.This research is a pre-experimental study. The panelists from this study consisted of 30 Nutrition Department Students from Health Polytechnic Ministry of Health Makassar. Assessment based on taste aspects, color of aroma and texture of baroncong products with the addition of carrots 50%, 75%, 100% with the criteria of very like, like, dislike and very dislike.The results showed that the acceptability of baroncong with the addition of carrots in terms of taste was a concentration of 75%, which was very much as much as 46.7% and liked as much as 50%, the color aspect was 50% concentration consisting of 36.7% likes and likes as much as 53.3%, the aroma aspectis a concentration of 50% which consists of very much as much as 33.3% and likes as much as 63.3%, in terms of aspects of texture are concentrations of 50% and 75%, each of which consists of as much as 23.3% and likes as much as 63, 3%. Based on these data, Baroncong with the addition of carrots received is a concentration of 75%.

The corrosion inhibition characteristics of two medicinal molecules phenylalanine and rutin on mild steel in 1.0M Hydrochloric acid were evaluated using gravimetric method. Corrosion inhibition efficiency of 83.78 and 90.40 % was obtained respectively after seven days. However, phenylalanine showed weak accumulative higher corrosion inhibition efficiency. The presence of both molecules in the corrosive environment reduced the corrosion rate constant and increased the material half-life. Thermodynamic data calculated suggests a spontaneous adsorption of the molecules on the mild steel’s surface.
