The article presents the activities and selected views of the French educationalist Gaston Mialaret on the centenary of his birthday. He was a long-time professor at Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines at the University of Caen. He combined the taste for empirical research with interest in philosophy. He continued and enriched the concepts of the New Education, especially the lasting importance of simultaneous research on the subsequent stages of child development and the implementation of education based on the assumptions of development pedagogy. He developed proposals for progressive educational reform presented in 1947 in the project “Le plan Langevin-Wallon”. On the background of the analysis of the changing role of education in the contemporary world, Mialaret showed the changing role of pedagogical studies and especially the new role of the teacher as an animator of educational acts and situations. The article emphasises the basic, in Mialaret’s opinion, the importance of the socalled active methods enabling the enrichment of personality at all levels of education and the development of the educational, intellectual, civic and cultural potential of each student.

Scientific institutions have for a long time known the importance of framing and owning stories about science They also know the effective way of communicating science in a press release This is part of the institution’s public relations. Enhanced competition among research institutions has led to a buildup of communicative competences and professionalization of public relations inside the institutions and the press release has become an integrated part of science communication from these institutions. Changing working conditions in the media, where fewer people have to publish more, have made press releases from trustworthy scientific institutions into free and easily copied content for the editors. In this commentary I investigate and discuss the communicative ecosystem of the university press release. I especially take a close look at the role of the critical and independent science journalist in relation to this corporate controlled communication

Palabras clave: Vinculación, Universidad, Empresa, Gobierno   ABSTRACT In the contemporary world, knowledge is increasingly becoming a fundamental element for development processes, which has been transforming the role of universities in their links with society. In this context, the participation of the government, as well as of the industry, becomes equally relevant, giving rise to diverse models of linkage between all these actors. Taking into account the above, the present work has as its fundamental purpose the systematization, from the theoretical-methodological and historical point of view, of the conceptual bases for the university-industry-government linkage, as well as of the linking models derived from the international experience. Both topics are addressed in the two sections that make up the article.   Key words: Linkage, University, Industry, Government

Academic writing plays a crucial role in academic as well as professional life of learners. Developing academic writing takes long time and efforts. Though there are multiple factors that play the role of enablers or disablers for success in academic writing, awareness of basic characteristics of academic writing is a fundamental prerequisite. Similarly, the requirements of academic writing differ from culture to culture and institution to institution. Therefore, it is highly important for learners to understand the expectations of academic writing in their institutions. This article describes an ethnographic study that was conducted in the University of Sydney, Australia to understand a course coordinator’s expectation regarding criticality, depth and voice in academic writing. To answer the research question raised in the study, data were collected from published and unpublished secondary sources, an interview coordinator of the of course Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and an assignment in SLA. The thematic analysis of data revealed that criticality, depth and voice are important characteristics of academic writing. Different ways to meet the expectation of criticality, depth and voice are discussed and some suggestions for further research are forwarded based on the discussion.
