Cultured pearls have an important place in international trade. The Vedas, the Bible, and the Koran all mentioned pearls, and they are regarded as one of the highest honours. Pearls are generated in nature when an irritant, such as a sand grain or a parasite, is swept into the pearl molluscs and lodged within it, where it is coated with micro-layers of nacre, a lustrous substance made up of 80–90 per cent aragonite crystals of CaCO3. The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar, India, has created a base technology for cultivating pearls in freshwater habitats, recognising the scope and value of freshwater pearl production. Indian pond mussel, Lamellidens marginalis is the major species used in freshwater pearl aquaculture. In addition, ICAR-CIFA has pioneered a novel feature of freshwater pearl farming. The Institute has also taken the lead in disseminating freshwater pearl culture technology to the country’s fish farming communities, entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to build a sustainable model for the country’s socio-economic development. In this chapter, we will briefly cover pearls and their types, their historical significance, the spread of pearl mussels of freshwater origin in various countries, pearl biomineralisation, pearl farming techniques, and factors affecting pearl quality, among other things.

This state of the field essay examines recent trends in American Cultural History, focusing on music, race and ethnicity, material culture, and the body. Expanding on key themes in articles featured in the special issue of Cultural History, the essay draws linkages to other important literatures. The essay argues for more a more serious consideration of the products within popular culture, less as a reflection of social or economic trends, rather for their own historical significance. While the essay examines some classic texts, more emphasis is on work published within the last decade. Here, interdisciplinary methods are stressed, as are new research perspectives developing by non-western historians.

The aim of this chapter is to determine the historical significance of Strauß’s most famous book, Das Leben Jesu, which was first published in 1835. The book had a major religious and political significance. Its religious significance lay in undermining faith in the historical testimony behind the New Testament, which had been the chief reason for belief in the Bible in orthodox Protestantism. Its political significance came from undermining the belief in Christian revelation, which had been the main rationale for the authority of the state. Strauß also formulated the famous distinction between right- and left-wing Hegelianism, which became the main focus of political debate in the 1830s and 1840s.

Abstract Construction sector has an important place in Turkey’s economy. Real estate sales for the sector are increasing in parallel. However, the purchase cost is also important for those who are willing to buy a real estate. In the acquisition of real estate, factors such as size, location and age of the house are taken into consideration. The aim of the article is to conduct research on factors affecting real estate values by data mining. In this study, the most important variables that determine the value of the real estate have been investigated by data mining methods. The research has been carried out in Karabük and the variables determined according to the opinions of real estate experts. As classification methods, CHAID and C&RT algorithms have been used. It has been evaluated that both algorithm estimation results can be used. Within the framework of the study, the variables that have the most impact on the unit price have been determined, such as the size of the real estate, the distance to the city centre, the popularity, and the age of the building. The use of advanced technologies, such as statistical modelling and machine learning in real estate valuation and automatic value estimation, is of importance in determining the real value of the real estate.

AbstractThe people's antifascist uprising in September, 1923, organized and conducted by the Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP), is one of the greatest events in Bulgaria's modern history. It is allotted a foremost place in the textbooks on the history of Bulgaria, and numerous special scientific works have been and will continue to be dedicated to it.* However, the September uprising of 1923 is not merely of interest to Bulgarian history alone; it also occupies an important place in the recent history of mankind. Three major events characterize the revolutionary process in 1923: the September uprising in Bulgaria, the Hamburg uprising in Germany in October, and the Kraków uprising in Poland in November. Comparatively, the September uprising involved the largest number of participants and was the best organized and the best conducted of the three uprisings. This fact was pointed out at the Fifth World Communist Internationale and is why all objectively written works of general history give it a prominent place.
