Digital technologies and products are a new reality of modern education, but the degree of their influence on the ecology of the digital educational environment has not been fully studied. The article examines teachers' ideas about a new definition of education - the ecology of the digital educational environment; about the impact of digital educational products on the cognitive, personal and activity sphere of students. Implement the tasks set, an anonymous online survey of teachers of secondary schools in Moscow, the Moscow region, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara was conducted using the Google form. The article, based on the analysis of teachers' ideas about the ecology of the digital educational environment, risk zones and their impact on the cognitive, personal and activity spheres of students are identified; criteria for assessing the impact of digital educational products on cognitive processes, personal qualities and motivation of students learning activities are determined; indicators for each type of criteria are considered. The article shows, in the view of teachers, digital educational products have an ambivalent impact on the development of a student: they act as a resource, a means of development, and at the same time, they are risky for the development of a student.

Public mass modern education was a major pillar of state-led development in the post-Colonial period. I examine the impact of Egypt's transformation in 1951–1953 of traditional elementary schools (kuttabs) into modern primary schools on the Christian-Muslim educational and occupational differentials, which were in favor of Christians. The reform granted kuttabs' graduates (where Muslim students were over-represented) access to higher stages of education that were previously confined to primary schools' graduates. Exploiting the variation in exposure to the reform across cohorts and districts of birth among males in 1986, I find that the reform benefited Muslims but not Christians. What Europe is suffering from is the result of generalizing education among all levels of society… they have no chance of avoiding what happened [Europe's 1848 revolutions]. So if this is an example in front of us, our duty is simply to teach them how to read and write to a certain limit in order to encourage satisfactory work and not to spread education beyond that point.Muhammad Ali Pasha, Ottoman Viceroy of Egypt (1805–1848), in a private letter to his son, Ibrahim Pasha (in Judith Cochran 1986, p. 6)Education is like the water we drink and the air we breathe.Taha Hussein, Egyptian liberal intellectual and Egypt's Minister of Education (1950–1952)The poor go to heaven, but can't they have a share on Earth too? They are willing to give up a share in heaven in exchange for a share on Earth.Gamal Abdul-Nasser, President of Egypt (1956–1970) (Excerpt from a public speech)

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the features of higher education management in the context of global economic transformations. Design/methodology/approach A correlation-regression analysis of the functionality of the modern education system was carried out in the “personality-society-economy” triad by analyzing the impact of global indices such as Economic Quality Index, Personal Freedom Index and Social Capital Index on the resultant indicator, or the Education Index. Findings It was determined that the impact of economic factors on the level of education is rather low, and at the same time, this indicator largely depends on the indicator of the social capital. In this regard, the following social trends have been identified that need to be implemented for the successful education management: expanding the population education program, as well as providing lifelong education, ensuring equal access to quality education, strengthening the role of the state in ensuring equity in education, efficient and effective use of education costs, humanization and democratization of education, updating the content, forms, methods and means of training, enhancing the professional competence of teachers, transparency of education systems, the formation of state-public forms of education management. Originality/value In the framework of the proposed research, it was established the hypothesis that the modern education system is dependent on the relation between individual, society and the national economy.

Student performance has several elements, but most significant is the role the information and communication technology plays. The performance of students in modern education is quite different from the traditional method used over the past decades. ICT is a revolution and has indeed bridged the divided world of information into single entity; it has further enhanced the resourcefulness of students in various academic institutions around the globe. This study is a fact finding into the role of ICT as it relates to students performance in modern education and the traditional method of research in time past. University of Benin (Uniben) Post Graduate Students were used to solicit information required for the research decision. From the findings, it was observed that there is a significant difference between the users and non users of ICT facilities on academic activities. Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4 as tabulated below shows the positive impact of ICT on student performance. The testing, t-test was 1.96 at 0.05 significance level, while the t-value was 4.677 and this to a large degree shows clear distinction to viability of the impact of ICT on the positive performance on students.
