This study examines the relationship between mathematics test anxiety and numerical anxiety on students’ mathematics achievement. 140 pre-university students who studied at one of the institutes of higher learning were being investigated. Gender issue pertaining to mathematics anxieties was being addressed besides investigating the magnitude of the variables for mathematics test anxiety and numerical anxiety. The data revealed that there was a positive correlation between mathematics test anxiety and numerical anxiety on students’ mathematics achievement. Results of the multiple regressions showed that all the variables of mathematics anxieties were statistically significant on students’ mathematics achievement. Non-parametric tests also revealed that mathematics anxiety was statistically significant in measuring students’ mathematics achievement.

This paper aims to provide insights into the learners’ Mathematics anxiety level, gender differences in the anxiety level, and the relationship between Mathematics anxiety and Additional Mathematics achievement. Random systematic sampling method was used to recruit 69 form four students in Malaysia who took Additional Mathematics Course as the respondents for this study. This study employed correlational method and it used questionnaire as the instrument for data collection. More specifically, Mathematics self-efficacy and anxiety questionnaire (MSEAQ) was used in this study. Mathematics anxiety level was measured using descriptive statistics and t-test was used to compute the mean differences between male and female students’ Mathematics anxiety level. The relationship between Mathematics anxiety and Additional Mathematics achievement was determined by applying Pearson correlational test. The findings reveal that most respondents perceived themselves to have moderate Mathematics anxiety level. Besides, the male students had higher Mathematics anxiety level compared to female students. This study also shows that there was a positive relationship between Mathematics anxiety and Additional Mathematics performance. It is hoped that the findings revealed by this study are useful for policymakers in designing their intervention plans. Keywords: Mathematics anxiety, Additional Mathematics, affective variable, gender, MalaysiaCite as: Yahya, S.Z & Amir, R. Kaedah persampelan rawak sistematik telah digunakan untuk mendapatkan 69 orang pelajar tingkatan empat yang mengambil mata pelajaran Matematik Tambahan sebagai responden kajian.

According to the theory of conflict resolution, in the school, as an educational institution, systematic influences on constructive social behaviors and quality choices are possible. The study aimed to determine the relation-ship between the creative potential of early primary school pupils and their patterns of behavior in school conflicts. Early primary school pupils (N = 73; 55.1% girls) participated in the research by solving the EPoC-SOC test of po-tential social creativity. Their teachers (N = 16; 38-60 years; 96% women) assessed three patterns of pupil behavior (winning, avoiding, and cooperation). Non-standardized results were used to assess divergent-exploratory thinking as well as convergent-integrative thinking in tasks with dyad social relations and group tasks. Correlation analysis found only a statistically significant negative association between the avoidance pattern and achievement on the tasks of convergent-integrative social creativity. The obtained results suggest the need for further research on the relationship between pupils’ social competency and behavior in conflicts.

To explore the impact of academic burden on the physical and mental health of primary school students, combined with the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) report in 2018, the relationship among the development of mathematical literacy, mathematics academic burden, and the physical and mental health of primary school students is studied. First, the relationship between mathematical literacy and mathematics anxiety is analyzed, and related influencing factors and measurement methods of mathematics anxiety are introduced. A questionnaire is then designed for primary school students’ mathematical stress, and the reliability and validity of the designed questionnaire are tested. Finally, a questionnaire survey is conducted on students, parents, and teachers in the third, fourth, and fifth grades of three standardized public primary schools. The results of the questionnaire survey show that students, teachers, and parents have a general understanding of the mathematics academic burden of primary school students at this stage. A total of 70% of teachers believe that primary school students have a heavy mathematics burden; 50% of parents think that primary school students are under heavy academic stress; 70% of primary school students believe that the heavy mathematics burden leads to reduced sleep time and extracurricular activities, which has a serious impact on the physical and mental health of primary school students. This research provides a reference for improving the current balance between education and students’ physical and mental health in China.

Ontoereikende prestasie in wiskunde is ’n enorme probleem in postapartheid Suid-Afrika. AbstractAn investigation into facets of study orientation of learners in a private school and its link with achievement in mathematics Inadequate achievement in mathematics appears to be a major problem in post-apartheid South Africa. In the current article this phenomenon is discussed and possible reasons are indicated. The primary aim of the article is an investigation into the relationship between achievement in mathematics of learners in a South African private school and their study orientation. For this purpose the Study Orientation Questionnaire in Mathematics (SOM) was used as a measuring instrument. It was found that the proportion of learners with more adequate study habits is higher in the case of female learners than in the case of male learners. Mathematics anxiety, problem-solving behaviour and study environment appear to be significant predictors of learner achievement in the private school context corncerned. Lastly, it seems as if mathematics achievement increases with a decrease in mathematics anxiety. However, this decrease is not linear and tapers off with a decrease in mathematics anxiety.
