The purpose of this study was to test the effects of Practical Problem-Based Home Economics Instruction (PPBHEI) on middle school students' creativity, focusing on the content on “clothing management and recycling.” This study carried out quasi-experimental research with an independent variable of PPBHEI and a dependent variable of creativity. The experiment was based on a sample of 62 (31 in each group) second grade students in the Cheongju area over four class hours. ANCOVA was performed to examine pre-test and post-test differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that PPBHEI did not improve the level of creativity but improved the level of creative motivation among the sub-elements of creativity (creative thinking, creative tendency, creative motivation). In particular, PPBHEI improved the level of independence in creative tendency, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in creative motivation. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that PPBHEI is effective in improving independence, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in respect of middle school students’creativity.

Cyber bullying is the unwise use of technology to harm and humiliate an individual or group over the Internet. The purpose of this article is to test the effectiveness of the cyber bullying sensitisation program (CBSP) to reduce the level of cyber bullying behaviour among middle school students. The sample was restricted to adolescents as they are the ones who are most exposed and vulnerable in the cyber space. A quasi-experimental pre-post design with intervention was adopted for the study. The participants of the study were comprised of 186 middle school students from two private schools in India. The experimental group had 94 participants while control groups had 92 participants. Statistical analysis indicated that there was a significant difference between pre- and post-test scores in the experimental group. No significant difference was found between the experiment and control group before the program, suggesting that the program was effective in helping students in reducing cyber bullying behaviour. The implications for prevention and intervention programs were discussed.

This research examined the effect of multimedia on developing reading comprehension and creative thinking skills of English language among second year middle school students. Forty participants were randomly selected from Hala Middle School, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt in the academic year 2019-2020. This study was conducted according to the pre-test- and post-test-based two group quasi-experimental model. Therefore, the participants were randomly divided into two groups (20 each). One group was selected as experimental group and the other as control group. The experimental group was taught using the multimedia while the control group received regular teaching. According to the results, the students supported by the multimedia were more successful than students supported only by traditional teaching method. Therefore, the multimedia positively affected developing reading comprehension and creative thinking skills among EFL students. Finally, the use of the multimedia increased the students' motivation in learning EFL.

Providing individuals with environmental awareness from a young age is very important for a livable and sustainable world. In this context, the aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of the environmental science project, Water Explorer Program, on middle school students' water usage behaviors, and attitudes. A quasi-experimental research design was used. The participants were 87 (36 girls and 51 boys) eighth-grade students from four different classes in a public school. Whereas in the control group, the textbook-based instructional approach was used, Water Explorer Program was used in the experimental group. Water usage attitudes and water usage behavior scales were administered to the groups at the beginning and end of the study. In addition to pre-post tests, reflection papers were gathered from students in the experimental group. The findings of the study revealed that students in the experimental group developed significantly better water usage behaviors, and attitudes than their counterparts in the control group. Therefore, environmental projects should be involved in science curriculums.

This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Blended Learning Approach on graduate school students’ intrinsic motivation to learn, achievement, efficiency on project completion, and attitude towards coursework. The study used two groups, the control and experimental group which covered 30 students for each group. Students in the control group were exposed to the face-to-face instructional mode while the experimental group was exposed to the blended mode of instruction. Survey questionnaires, achievement tests, and documentary analyses were the data-gathering modalities that were utilized. The data were treated using mean, scales, and t-test. Results show that the BLA enhanced students’ intrinsic motivation to learn, efficiency in project completion, and achievement in the course, however, yielded no significant effect on their attitude toward their coursework.

The effect of a 15- to 24-month in-service professional development (PD) program on state accountability mathematics test scores for middle school students was examined using a quasi-experimental design. Middle level mathematics teachers (n = 128) from 7 school districts and 64 middle schools volunteered for a PD sequence of content-oriented summer courses and pedagogy-oriented structured follow-up experiences during the subsequent academic year. Student effects of the PD program were measured using Colorado's state mathematics test results for 2 cohorts of students: 1 that received mathematics instruction from participant teachers in the year prior to the PD and another cohort that received mathematics instruction in the year following the PD. The odds of a student achieving a Proficient or Advanced score on the state test were then compared between cohorts. Results showed that students' odds of achieving a score of Proficient or better increased with teacher participation in the PD program.

Spanning the course of two decades, educational leaders have invested government finances into the social-emotional needs of adolescents. Government programs provide student questionnaires to survey the scholastic climate from students’ perceptions. Previous research discusses the correlation between students’ perception and their success in school due to fulfillment of their transescent needs. This research study ventured to distinguish a possible correlation between urban middle school students’ perceptions of feeling “cared-for” and their intrinsic motivation. Results suggest that today’s urban student benefits from feeling cared-for both personally and academically.
