<div class="page" title="Page 1"><div class="layoutArea"><div class="column"><p><span>It’s time to consider people in designing the Internet of Things (IoT). We demonstrate a working prototype of a Messaging Kettle. It is designed to facilitate asynchronous communication and enable a sense of presence between adult children and their older parents living remotely from them through the familiar comfort routine of boiling the kettle to make a cup of tea. Our goal is to offer a human centred critique of the Internet of Things, which has largely been conceived without consideration of the people who will use the things, and rather has traditionally moved from a technology oriented perspective. In the case of smart homes this approach has produced a wide array of projects focused on monitoring the habits of the elderly, recognizing anomalies and alerting the caregivers. In contrast we propose to focus on engagement and reciprocity, building on the rituals associated with habitually used and cherished objects. We conclude by revisiting the technology-oriented framework for the Internet of Things to include our observations on people’s perspectives on smart communicating objects. </span></p></div></div></div>

BACKGROUND COVID- 19 pandemics has affected the life of every human being in this world dramatically. The daily routine of the human has been changed to an uncertain extent. Some of the people are affected by the COVID-19, and some of the people are in fear of this epidemic. This has completely changed the thorough process of the people, and now, they are looking for solutions of this pandemic at different levels of the human addressable areas. These areas include medicine, vaccination, precautions, psychology, technology-assisted solutions like information technology, etc. There is a need to think in the direction of technology compliant solutions in the era of COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVE The objective of this paper is to discuss the existing views and focus on the recommendations for the enhancement in the current situation from COVID-19. METHODS Based on the literature, perceptions, challenges, and viewpoints, the following opinions are suggested to the research community for the prevention and elimination of global pandemic COVID-19. The research community irrespective of the discipline focus on the following: 1. The comprehensive thought process for the designing of the internet of things (IoT) based solutions for healthcare applications used in the prevention from COVID-19. 2. Strategies for restricting outbreak of COVID-19 with the emerging trends in Ehealthcare applications. Which should be the optimal strategy to deal with a global pandemic? 3. Explorations on the data analysis as derived from the advanced data mining and warehousing associated with IoT. Besides, cloud-based technologies can be incorporated for the global spread of healthcare-related information to serve the community of different countries in the world. 4. The most adaptable method and technology can be deployed for the development of innovative solutions for COVID-19 related people like smart, patient-centric healthcare information systems. 5. Implementation of smart solutions like wearable technology for mask and PPE along with their disposal can be considered to deal with a global epidemic like COVID-19. This will lead to the manufacturing and incorporation of wearable technologies in the healthcare sector by industries. 6. A Pervasive thought process can be standardized for dealing with global pandemic like COVID-19. In addition, research measures should be considered for the security and privacy challenges of IoT services carrying healthcare-related information. These areas and directions are diverse but, in parallel, the need for healthy bonding and correlation between the people like researchers and scientists irrespective of their discipline. The discipline may vary from medical, engineering, computing, finance, and management, etc. In addition, standard protocols and interoperability measures can be worked out for the exchange of information in the global pandemic situations. RESULTS Recommendations Discussed CONCLUSIONS In this paper, the opinions have been discussed in the multi-disciplinary areas of research like COVID-19 challenges, medicines and vaccines, precautionary measures, technology assistance, and the Internet of Things. These opinions and discussion serve as an integrated platform for researchers and scientists to think about future perspectives to deal with healthcare-related COVID-19 pandemic situation. This includes the original, significant, and visionary automation based ideas, innovations, scientific designs, and applications focusing on Inter-disciplinary technology compliant solutions like IoT, vaccinations, manufacturing, preventive measures, etc. for the improvement of efficiency and reliability of existing healthcare systems. For the future, there is dire need to strengthen the technology not only in the one area but also for the interdisciplinary areas to recover from the pandemic situation rapidly and serve the community.

In this era of explosive growth in technology, the internet of things (IoT) has become the game changer when we consider technologies like smart homes and cities, smart energy, security and surveillance, and healthcare. The numerous benefits provided by IoT have become attractive technologies for users and cybercriminals. Cybercriminals of today have the tools and the technology to deploy millions of sophisticated attacks. These attacks need to be investigated; this is where digital forensics comes into play. However, it is not easy to conduct a forensic investigation in IoT systems because of the heterogeneous nature of the IoT environment. Additionally, forensic investigators mostly rely on evidence from service providers, a situation that can lead to evidence contamination. To solve this problem, the authors proposed a blockchain-based IoT forensic model that prevents the admissibility of tampered logs into evidence.

The emergence of the internet of things in the smart homes has given rise to many services to meet the user's expectations. It is possible to control the temperature, the brightness, the sound system, and even the security of the house via a smartphone, at the request of the inhabitant or by scheduling it. This growing number of “things” must deal with material constraints such as home network infrastructure, but also applicative due to the number of proposed services. The heterogeneity of users' preferences often creates conflicts between them like turn on and off light or using a heater and an air conditioner in the same time. To manage these conflicts, the authors proposed a solution based on linked open data (LOD). The LOD allows defining the relation between the different services and things in the house and a better exploitation of the attributes of the inhabitant's profile and services. It consists to find inconsistency relation between the equipment using the antonym thesaurus.

Smart home is one of the most promising applications of the Internet of Things. Although there have been studies about this technology in recent years, the adoption rate of smart homes is still low. One of the largest barriers is technological fragmentation within the smart home ecosystem. Currently, there are many protocols used in a connected home, increasing the confusion of consumers when choosing a product for their house. One possible solution for this fragmentation is to make a gateway to handle the diverse protocols as a central hub in the home. However, this solution brings about another issue for manufacturers: compatibility. Because of the various smart devices on the market, supporting all possible devices in one gateway is also an enormous challenge. In this paper, we propose a software architecture for a gateway in a smart home system to solve the compatibility problem. By creating a mechanism to dynamically download and update a device profile from a server, the gateway can easily handle new devices. Moreover, the proposed gateway also supports unified control over heterogeneous networks. We implemented a prototype to prove the feasibility of the proposed gateway architecture and evaluated its performance from the viewpoint of message execution time over heterogeneous networks, as well as the latency for device profile downloads and updates, and the overhead needed for handling unknown commands.

These data are intrinsically private and should be treated carefully, despite their high value for analysis. In this work, we propose a differentially private strategy to estimate frequencies of values in the context of Smart Home data.

Telkomsel berubah menjadi administrator utama untuk memasarkan NB-IoT di negara ini pada Maret 2018, dan Indosat Ooredoo telah menunjukkan bahwa mereka memiliki rencana untuk bergerak menuju inovasi ini. Laporan nasional ini memberikan garis besar dari showcase IoT Indonesia, termasuk informasi tentang asosiasi dan pendapatan dan pemeriksaan prosedur pemain yang signifikan. Studi ini memberikan ulasan tentang pasar IoT, arahan terkait dan desain bangsa serta informasi otentik dan dugaan untuk perangkat portabel. Akhirnya, analisis titik balik kunci dan elemen pasar. Indonesia is yet a youthful market for IoT. However, administrator enthusiasm for this zone is developing. Telkomsel turned into the main administrator to market NB-IoT in the nation in March 2018, and Indosat Ooredoo has demonstrated that it has plans to move towards this innovation. This national report gives an outline of the Indonesian IoT showcase, including information on associations and income and an examination of the procedures of significant players. This study provides a review of the IoT market, related direction and nation designs as well as authentic information and conjectures for portable devices. Finally, it analysis key turning points and market elements. By examining all this, then it becomes easier to measure Iot since the variables become apparent. The first part of the paper introduces and defines what internet of things is by giving a background and evolution of the technology. It also highlights the readiness and application of internet of things among the people in the Indonesian region. In addition, it uses qualitative and quantitative approach to postulate as to how Iot can be measured. The first part is the background which entails a background information on Iot in Indonesia followed by the objectives of the study. This is followed by a hypothesis formulation, methodology, analysis and results of the research. 


The future of Internet of Things (IoT) is already upon us. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the ability to provide everyday devices with a way of identification and another way for communication with each other. The spectrum of IoT application domains is very large including smart homes, smart cities, wearables, e-health, etc. Consequently, tens and even hundreds of billions of devices will be connected. Such devices will have smart capabilities to collect, analyze and even make decisions without any human interaction. Security is a supreme requirement in such circumstances, and in particular authentication is of high interest given the damage that could happen from a malicious unauthenticated device in an IoT system. While enjoying the convenience and efficiency that IoT brings to us, new threats from IoT also have emerged. There are increasing research works to ease these threats, but many problems remain open. To better understand the essential reasons of new threats and the challenges in current research, this survey first proposes the concept of “IoT features”. Then, the security and privacy effects of eight IoT new features were discussed including the threats they cause, existing solutions and challenges yet to be solved.

The world is striving to become smart with the latest findings evolved in the communication and the information technology. The emerging of the things that could automatically and intelligently render service to the people in cooperative way acts as a part of this smart world and the internet of things take the significant role in the development of the smart world as it is capable of connecting every tangible things of the world. Though this technological advancement paves way for a seamless and an efficient way of communication, the excess energy consumed by the various add –ons used along with the devices that make the world smart cause environmental pollution and unknown destructions. Multitude of strides researched in improving the energy efficiency in the devices to make the internet of things sustainable and green is reviewed in the paper along with its applications hoping that this would create awareness in the development of the future smart applications.

This article reviewed the state-of-the-art applications of the Internet of things (IoT) technology applied in homes for making them smart, automated, and digitalized in many respects. The literature presented various applications, systems, or methods and reported the results of using IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), and geographic information system (GIS) at homes. Because the technology has been advancing and users are experiencing IoT boom for smart built environment applications, especially smart homes and smart energy systems, it is necessary to identify the gaps, relation between current methods, and provide a coherent instruction of the whole process of designing smart homes. This article reviewed relevant papers within databases, such as Scopus, including journal papers published in between 2010 and 2019. These papers were then analyzed in terms of bibliography and content to identify more related systems, practices, and contributors. A designed systematic review method was used to identify and select the relevant papers, which were then reviewed for their content by means of coding. The presented systematic critical review focuses on systems developed and technologies used for smart homes. The main question is ”What has been learned from a decade trailing smart system developments in different fields?”. We found that there is a considerable gap in the integration of AI and IoT and the use of geospatial data in smart home development. It was also found that there is a large gap in the literature in terms of limited integrated systems for energy efficiency and aged care system development. This article would enable researchers and professionals to fully understand those gaps in IoT-based environments and suggest ways to fill the gaps while designing smart homes where users have a higher level of thermal comfort while saving energy and greenhouse gas emissions. This article also raised new challenging questions on how IoT and existing developed systems could be improved and be further developed to address other issues of energy saving, which can steer the research direction to full smart systems. This would significantly help to design fully automated assistive systems to improve quality of life and decrease energy consumption.
