AbstractResearch is a method to answer questions or to solve problems. This article addresses to enrich the readers how ro review a research report through critique research. Research is conducted by a systematic set of procedures and steps and to be clearly and detail reported. Report and/ or article resulted from a research will be considerably feasible implemented whenever the result of study has been reviewed through an accurate and deepen process of assessment or examination which is called critique research. Critique research can be taken by using ten elements and criteria formulated by qualitative research experts. The ten elements include: topic, purpose, design or approach, informant/ participant description, method of data collection, data analysis, findings, conclusion and recommendation. Each element has criteria as an indicator. Therefore, the authenticity of the research report and or articles need to be assessed by careful critical analysis as to broaden the understanding, determine evidence for use in practice and provide a background for conducting further research study.

The article is written as a travelogue by the author while exploring the passage of qualitative research in her maiden independent research work—her dissertation. The author describes in the article how her journey of qualitative research took shape right from the take-off point: the choice of topic and methodology to the data collection, analysis and presentation of the findings. The article also throws light on the various experiences of the researcher during the journey including the issues and challenges faced by her in different stages of the study like the research proposal stage, data collection stage and the data analysis stage. The objective of the article is to familiarize the qualitative researchers, who are currently at the beginner stage, with the possible issues and pitfalls of qualitative research process. For that the author has used her own experiences to explain the nuances of the process. In the article, the author also highlights that irrespective of the challenges faced in the process how the research study helped her in developing herself as a better researcher and a wiser person, making her efforts fruitful and providing her a sense of achievement.

There is a growing number of scientific papers reporting on case studies and action research published each year. Consequently, evaluating the quality of pilling up research reports is becoming increasingly challenging. Several approaches for evaluation of quality of the scientific outputs exist however they appear to be fairly time-consuming and/or adapted for other research designs. In this paper, we propose a reasonably light-weight structure-based approach for evaluating case study and action research reports (SAE-CSAR) based on eight key parts of a real-world research report: research question, case description, data collection, data analysis, ethical considerations, results, discussion and limitations. To evaluate the feasibility of the proposed approach, we conducted a systematic literature survey of papers reporting on real-world cybersecurity research. A total of N = 102 research papers were evaluated. Results suggest that SAE-CSAR is useful and relatively efficient, and may offer a thought-provoking insight into the studied field. Although there is a positive trend for the inclusion of data collection, data analysis and research questions in papers, there is still room for improvement suggesting that the field of real-world cybersecurity research did not mature yet. The presence of a discussion in a paper appears to affect most its citation count. However, it seems that it is not uniformly accepted what a discussion should include. This paper explores this and other issues related to paper structure and provides guidance on how to improve the quality of research reports.

Phenomenography is a qualitative research approach that seeks to explore variation in how people experience various aspects of their world. Phenomenography has been used in numerous information research studies that have explored various phenomena of interest in the library and information sphere. This paper provides an overview of the phenomenographic method and discusses key assumptions that underlie this approach to research. Aspects including data collection, data analysis and the outcomes of phenomenographic research are also detailed. The paper concludes with an illustration of how phenomenography was used in research to investigate students’ experiences of web-based information searching. The results of this research demonstrate how the phenomenographic approach yields insights into variation, making it possible to develop greater understanding of the phenomenon as it was experienced, and to draw upon these experiences to improve and enhance current practice.

The purpose of this study is to figure out the patterns of classroom interaction in English teaching learning process for mechanical engineering class. The methods used in collecting data were observation and interview. The data were in the form of words, clauses, and sentences that carried out by video, and in-depth interview transcripts. The participants were an English lecturer and twenty two mechanical engineering students. The technique of data analysis used data collection, data diplay and drawing conclusion. The result of this research was dominated by the interaction between the teacher and students. The percentage of using English  between lecturer and students’ interaction is 40 %. It happened because the students had difficult to respon the lecturer’s question in English.
