El-Saadawi’s God Dies by the Nile and Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus have been widely and independently explored from varied perspectives. Such liberated critique is however surprising since the two texts can be found to have ethical and political confluence – the motif of the death of God. Drawing on the notion of travelling theory, this paper argues that the death of El-Saadawi’s and Adichie’s protagonists is a contestation and a disruption of the norm and a signification of the novels anticipatory sensibilities. The paper also examines how the different textual utilization of the motif of the death of God contributes to our understanding of the circulation of motifs in literary production and contextual interpretations. The paper makes a significant contribution to the scholarship on El-Saadawi and Adichie.

The time of theories on modernity of a philosophical and sociological nature has not yet expired by any means, as is sometimes presumed. On the contrary, our current era not only seems to almost need such theories but also to demand them. We are engaged in an ever-present search for a way of defining our situation and guidance with regard to the future. In his book 'Resonanz. Eine Soziologie der Weltbeziehung' (Resonance. A Sociology of our Relationship to the World), Hartmut Rosa speaks out on this issue and adopts an all-encompassing position on it. This book has met with such tremendous resonance that Rosa has clearly hit a nerve with it. Despite its academic nature and significance, it has attracted a readership that extends beyond the specialist audience for whom it was principally intended. Unsurprisingly, Rosa's book has triggered discussions both for and against his contentions, to which this study makes a significant contribution.

Since the first years of the 21st century, the presence of the dialect varieties of Arabic (the so-called ʿāmmiyya or dāriǧa) outside the purely literary production increased a lot, and these informal varieties are nowadays frequently used in press, mass media, and obviously social networks. This article intends to offer a general overview on the modalities by which, at the beginnings of this (relatively) new phenomenon, the Arabic dialects penetrated in both the old and new media. After a focus on the graphic problems issued during the first attempts of written registration of the Arabic dialects (like in 3arabizi and e-darija), it deals also with the initiatives encouraged by some Moroccan magazines and newspapers (such as Ḫbār blādna, al-Amal, TelQuel and Nichane) that developed a highly controversial debate on the future of the linguistic policies in the country.
