The investigation of Quality Control measurement (QC) with ageing x-ray machines was undertaken. Ten x-ray machines were examined across different hospitals within  Makurdi metropolis, Benue State  using Gammex 330 kV meter and ten (10) X-ray Machines in government hospitals (GH) and private hospitals (PH) with age’s (4-12) years for new X-ray Machines and (22-47) years for aged X-ray Machines. With these, on the quality of diagnostic X-rays and patient’s dose were examined separately when a graph of age of the machine was plotted against the power n of the kVp and a graph of machines age was plotted against radiation intensity. Based on the analysis obtained in this study, the value of n for the new machines with ages (5-12) years has a value of  and aged machines with ages (22-47) years has a value of. This shows that there is a relationship between age and n. In conclusion, the findings of the present study showed that the output radiation dose of new and aged x-ray units differs at the same kVp and mAs measurements, indicating that the x-ray tube deteriorates as its ages increase, thereby posing higher health risk to patients and as such, the study recommends that QC measurement be undertaken on x-ray machines at definite stages of the machines life to verify the effects of aging of a machine on patient's dose.

Abstract. Early detection of breast cancer is the first step in prevention that can be done by women, therefore when one is diagnosed with breast cancer, the appropriate treatment can be performed quickly and accurately. Early diagnosis of breast cancer can be a way of mitigation in preventing breast cancer through the use of mammography. Bureau of Radiology as said by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JHCA) stated that one of the responsibilities of the radiology unit is to control the quality of service which aims to minimize the radiographic image repetition factor; as well as maximizes the quality of radiographic image. Quality control tests are an effort that is needed on the mammography X-ray diagnostics tools. This is done to maintain the quality of expected output. The parameters that are included within the radiation output are the magnitude of current and the voltage of tube that are produced; therefore they remained constant and correspond to the recommended standard. Bureau of Radiological Health, as said by JHCA mentioned that to control the quality of image which will minimize the radiographic image repetition and maximizes the quality of radiographic image. Therefore the radiation output will not be dangerous later. The early stage of the quality control test on the machine was conducted by setting all the filtrations which were placed to capture the x-ray on the x-ray plane tube with minimum value. Then, ionization chamber is placed on the test subject points; right after that the distance between it to the radiation source is noted. The x-ray film is place on a film on the compression table of the patient and the distance between film and the focus point is noted. This is then exposed using a target filter Mo/Mo by setting the current as well as variation the voltage and time. The standard voltage measurements are 20-33kVp. This data is from the observations of time exposure; the output value is then noted. The above procedure is conducted from the minimum voltage to the maximum voltage. The output ray is measured for each voltage. The same procedure is conducted to the target filter Mo/RH. The results obtained are that the greater the input voltage and current will subsequently produce greater doses, therefore the exposure has exceeded the standard limit 0.1 mHy with longer exposure time. The HVL density thickness on the mammography X-ray machine determined the quality of the beam and the doses of x-ray exposure on the mammography machine. X-ray diffraction and total external reflection of X-rays (X-ray reflectometry) methods were used to study the successive stages of synthesis of epitaxial SiC films on Si (100) X-ray diffraction and total external X-ray reflection (XRD) methods were used to study successive stages of synthesis of epitaxial SiC films on Si (100) surfaces, (110) and (111) surfaces by the atom substitution method. The data on the transformation evolution of (100) surfaces were studied, (110) and (111) Si, into SiC surfaces. A comparative analysis of the X-ray structural quality of the SiC layers grown on Si by the atom substitution method with the quality of SiC layers grown by Advanced Epi by the standard CVD method. A modified technique for the total outer X-ray reflection method, based on measurements of the intensity of the reflected X-rays using a special parabolic mirror. It is shown that the method of total external reflection method makes it possible to obtain important information about the degree of surface roughness of SiC layers, the evolution of their crystal structure and plasmon energy in the process of Si to SiC conversion.

Potato is one of popular agricultural products grown and used in the world with high effective economic and nutritional value. In potatoes, there are always have some harmful bacteria species due to the sources of exposure from the seed, soil as well as the post-harvest environment which make deceasing the quality and quantity of potatoes. Usually, irradiation with gamma isotope sources is used in food irradiation, however, the disadvantage of the gamma source is the safe shielding reason even without the use of irradiation. Nowadays, X-ray irradiation in food is one of the methods interest to storage in long time. The first advantage of X-ray irradiation is that most of aerobic bacteria in food is killed, but does it not change the quality of the potato. Moreever, the advantage of an X-ray generator is that it does not have to cover up radiation when not in use. In this study, we have used low energy X-rays emitted from X-ray generator MBR-1618R-BE (Hitachi -Japan) to study the ability to kill aerobic bacteria in potatoes grown in Da Lat. After preparation, potato samples were irradiated at doses ranging from 50 Gy to 5000 Gy. The irradiated samples were homogenized and inoculated on Nutrient Agar and incubated at 370C in an incubator to check the changes of aerobic bacteria. The research showed that the number of aerobic bacteria decreased dramatically to a dose of 1000 Gy (the aerobic bacteria was only less than 0,6%), despite a sharp increase in the dose of irradiation, this number decreased a little. The results also showed that D10 dose was 471,34 Gy.

ABSTRAKDengan adanya kesetaraan peran rumah sakit pemerintah dan rumah sakit swasta dalam meningkatkan kualitas layanan kesehatan di Indonesia, maka setiap rumah sakit harus memberikan pelayanan yang baik dan berkualitas. Perawat merupakan bagian dari SDM Rumah Sakit yang memberikan pengaruh cukup besar terhadap kualitas pelayanan. Pelaksanaan asuhan keperawatan yang baik tidak dapat dipisahkan dari peran komunikasi terapeutik yang dilakukan oleh perawat yang juga merupakan salah satu upaya peningkatan pelayanan kepada pasien. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian menggunakan cross-sectional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada pelaksanaan komunikasi terapeutik perawat di RS Pemerintah dan di RS Swasta, dimana pelaksanaan komunikasi terapeutik perawat di RS swasta lebih baik. Faktor-faktor yang berhubungan secara signifikan dengan pelaksanaan komunikasi terapeutik perawat di RS Pemerintah dan di RS Swasta adalah sama, yaitu variabel kepuasan kerja, motivasi kerja, iklim kerja, dukungan teman kerja dan dukungan kepala ruang. Faktor yang paling dominan berpengaruh terhadap kepatuhan perawat di RS Pemerintah dalam melaksanakan komunikasi terapeutik adalah motivasi kerja (OR 36,866); sedangkan di RS Swasta adalah dukungan kepala ruang (OR 28,598). Perbedaan yang bermakna antara RS Pemerintah dengan RS Swasta nampak pada variabel: umur, masa kerja, sikap, kepuasan kerja, motivasi kerja, iklim kerja, dukungan teman kerja, dukungan kepala ruang, dan pelaksanaan komunikasi terapeutik itu sendiri. Kata Kunci: Pelaksanaan, Komunikasi Terapeutik, RS Pemerintah-RS Swasta Differences Therapeutic Communication Nurse In Inpatient Room Government Hospital And Private Hospital;quality role of government hospitals and private hospitals in improving the quality of health services in Indonesia, causing every hospital should provide a good service and quality. Nurses are part of hospital human resource that considerable influence on the quality of service, and the implementation of good nursing care can not be separated from therapeutic communication. the optimal implementation of therapeutic communication by nurse is one of the efforts to improve services to the patients. The type of this research was quantitative with cross-sectional study. The results showed a significant differences in the implementation of nurses therapeutic communication between public hospitals and private hospitals, where the implementation of nurses therapeutic communication in private hospital are better. Associated factors significantly with the implementation of nurses therapeutic communication in public hospitals and in private hospitals are the same, the variables are job satisfaction, work motivation, work climate, coworkers support and head of ward support. The most dominant factor that affects the compliance of nurses in government hospitals in implementing therapeutic communication is work motivation (OR 36.866), while in private hospitals is head of ward support (OR 28.598). Significant differences between the government hospitals and private hospitals appears on variables: age, period of work, attitude, job satisfaction, work motivation, work climate, coworker support, head of ward support, and the implementation of therapeutic communication itself. Uang logam pecahan Rp 1.000,00 merupakan salah satu uang dengan nilai intrinsik yang paling baik dan banyak beredar di masyarakat. Oleh karena penggunaannya yang tinggi, maka kualitas uang logam ini perlu diperhatikan. Kontrol kualitas pecahan uang logam ini perlu dilakukan agar pecahan yang beredar di masyarakat adalah pecahan uang logam yang memenuhi standar. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengontrol kualitasnya adalah dengan teknik difraksi sinar-x (XRD). Dengan teknik ini, cacat struktur dapat dideteksi tanpa harus merusak uang logamnya, sehingga uang logam yang cacat struktur dapat dieliminasi dari peredaran. Namun, teknik XRD memerlukan cara tersendiri untuk menginterpretasikannya, oleh karena itu studi ini dilakukan untuk mencontohkan bagaimana cara menginterpretasikannya. Lima buah sampel uang logam pecahan Rp 1.000,00 digunakan dalam studi ini, dimana dari hasil kontrol kualitas yang dilakukan, terdapat satu pecahan uang logam yang terdapat cacat struktur. Dari hasil studi sendiri menunjukkan bahwa kelima sampel memiliki karakteristik struktur FCC yang merupakan target produksi dengan indikator bidang-bidang (111), (200), (220) dan (311). Namun, salah satu sampel ternyata memiliki cacat produksi berupa munculnya karakteristik BCC yang bukan merupakan target produksi dengan indikator bidang (310). Sampel yang memiliki cacat produksi ini dapat direkomendasikan untuk tidak diedarkan. Dari studi ini terbukti bahwa teknik analisis XRD dapat digunakan secara efektif untuk mengontrol kualitas uang logam secara non-destruktif. The IDR 1000 coin is one of the best intrinsic rupiah money and most widely used by Indonesian people. Because of these reasons, the quality of it needs to be considered. The quality control of this coin must be done in order to make sure that it meets the standard quality to distribute. An x-ray diffraction (XRD) technique is one way in order to control the quality of this coin. By using this technique, structural defect on this coin can be detected without destructs it, so that defected coin can be rejected to be distributed. However, this technique needs special technique to interpret it. This study aimed to exemplify how to interpret it. Five IDR 1000 coins were used as samples in this study. From this study, the result shows that there is a coin with structural defect. The results of this study show that all of five samples have FCC characteristics as a production target with (111), (200), (220) and (311) planes as indicators. However, there is a sample with a production defect i.e. BCC characteristics with (310) plane as an indicator. This sample were then recommended to be rejected. Overall, this study shows that this XRD analytical technique can be effectively used for controlling the quality of money coin without destructs it.

Abstract Aim To improve the efficiency of intraoperative hand trauma x-ray review, introduce a scoring system for quality of fixation achieved and use this as an education and feedback tool for trainees. Method A large QI project in 2019 demonstrated that intra-operative images taken using the mini C-arm were not being reviewed. In March 2020 the first QI cycle introduced an Access database to ensure that as cases were removed from the trauma board, they were added to a review list. Each x-ray was also scored in the trauma meeting (good, acceptable, poor) to assess the radiographic quality of fixation. The second QI cycle identified the named surgeon for each case, allowing surgeon specific feedback. Finally, we trained all qualified users of the mini C-arm to upload their own images after each case, reducing the mean time to upload. Results This QI project has improved the review rate of mini C-arm images from 30% to 100% and every x-ray is scored. The mean time to review images has reduced from 4 days to less than 24 hours. All trainees can access their scores for imaged hand and wrist trauma and receive written constructive feedback. Conclusions This project ensures appropriate and prompt review of all hand and wrist trauma cases allowing early identification of any concerns. All x-rays are scored, and this process acts as an educational prompt in the trauma meeting. A final report can be printed for each trainee which can be uploaded to their portfolio to document their surgical progress.

The study aimed at acknowledging the Six Sigma methodology and the existence of the essential components for the application, as well as reducing the time for completing the operations, reducing the error rate to the lowest possible level, and improving the quality of operations. For this objective, the analytical descriptive methodology was used on a sample consisted of 300 administrative and medical staff from Khartoum State Hospitals (Khartoum, Omdurman, Bahri). To this end, a questionnaire was used for collecting data and for analyzing it and achieving the results of the study by using the statistical analysis package (SPSS). The study deduced a number of results, the most important of which are that the items of commitment and supreme command support for the senior leadership and the methods of abundant human resources on quality control, and the application of the Six Sigma methodology in government hospitals in Khartoum state achieved a satisfactory level, while continuous improvement paragraphs, processes, and systems on quality control and the application of Six Sigma methodology achieved high quality. There is a significant effect on the extent of commitment and support of the higher leadership on quality control and the application of the Six Sigma methodology. Similarly, there is a statistically significant effect on the application of continuous improvement methods on quality control and Six Sigma methodology. Also, there is a statistically significant effect on the application of the abundance of human resources methods variable on quality control and the application of Six Sigma methodology in governmental hospitals in Khartoum state. The study recommended to take interest in the Six Sigma methodology and assure the possibility of using it in Khartoum State’s hospitals because of its scientific and practical importance in improving the quality of services and provided processes, and the need to provide qualified financial and human resources for using and developing Six Sigma methodology in hospitals, as well as great attention in training and providing departments heads with full knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and the fundamentals on which Six Sigma methodology, is based on its importance for hospitals. The study also recommended associating the promotions system in government hospitals in Khartoum state with the quality control program.
