Micro-Doppler signatures from the rotating propellers of a drone can be utilized to distinguish the drone from clutter or airborne organisms with similar radar cross section (RCS) levels, such as birds and bats. To obtain the micro-Doppler signatures of a drone, calculation or measurement of the electric field scattered from the rotating propellers is essential. In this paper, using the relative angle concept and far-field approximation, we propose a way to rapidly estimate the dynamic RCS of a drone with several propellers according to its movement. In addition, based on the fact that the shape of the propeller does not change even if it rotates, we construct an impedance matrix only once and apply the matrix to the method of moments instead of the iterative process of calculating the impedance matrix and inverse matrix for each rotation angle of the propeller. Finally, by using the Fourier transform of the results from the proposed method, the rotation frequencies of the propellers according to the movement of the drone can be obtained.

Background: The proximity of the electrode to the modiolar wall may be of interest to investigate the effect of pitch discrimination. This research establishes the relation between these factors and whether perimodiolar positions may provide benefits regarding improved electrode discrimination. Methods: A prospective randomized study including 24 post-lingual deaf adults was performed. A psychoacoustic study was done by using a psychoacoustic research platform. Radiological study, and a cone-beam computed tomography was used to assess post cochlear implantation electrodes’ position. Trans-impedance matrix (TIM) analysis was performed after cochlear implant insertion in all cases, and pupillometry test was also performed. Results: 12 patients received a slim perimodiolar electrode array, and 12 patients received a straight electrode array. Although all the patients showed similar speech test results after 12 months follow-up, those implanted with a perimodiolar electrode obtained better scores in electrode discrimination test and pupillometry test, and showed more homogenous TIM patterns. Conclusions: The better positioning of the electrode array seams to provide a better hearing resolution and less listening effort trans-impedance matrix seems to be a useful tool to analyze positioning of the perimodiolar array.

The vibration suppression of the proposed pitch-resistant hydraulically interconnected suspension system for the tri-axle straight truck is investigated, and the vibration isolation performances are parametrically designed to achieve smaller body vibration and tire dynamic load using increased pitch stiffness and optimized pressure loss coefficient. For the hydraulic subsystem, the transfer impedance matrix method is applied to derive the impedance matrix. These hydraulic forces are incorporated into the motion equations of mechanical subsystem as external forces according to relationships between boundary flow and mechanical state vectors. In terms of the additional mode stiffness/damping and suspension performance requirements, the cylinder surface area, accumulator pressure, and damper valve’s pressure loss coefficient are comprehensively tuned with parametric design technique and modal analysis method. It is found the isolation capacity is heavily dependent on installation scheme and fluid physical parameters. Especially, the surface area can be designed for the oppositional installation to separately raise pitch stiffness without increasing bounce stiffness. The pressure loss coefficients are tuned with design of experiment approach and evaluated using all conflict indexes with normalized dimensionless evaluation factors. The obtained numerical results indicate that the proposed pitch-resistant hydraulically interconnected suspension system can significantly inhibit both the body and tire vibrations with decreased suspension deformation, and the tire dynamic load distribution among wheel stations is also improved.

This paper presents a region boundaries determination method for critical commutation failures (CF) in multi-infeed high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) systems under unbalanced short circuit faults. By using the nodal impedance matrix, a calculation approach for the converter extinction angles is deduced. First, the extinction angles under unbalanced short circuit faults are calculated. If the extinction angle of a bus is less than the minimum extinction angle, the bus is a failed bus set. By this means, region boundaries of critical commutation failures are demarcated by examining each bus in the AC system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach was verified by using a modified IEEE 39-bus system.

In this paper, wavelets transformation (WT) and wavelet packet transformation (WPT) are used in solving, by the method of moments, a semicircular array of parallel wires electric field integral equation.  First, the integral equation is solved by applying the direct method of moments via point-matching procedure, results in a linear system with a dense matrix.  Therefore, wavelet transformation and wavelet packet transformation are used to sparsify the impedance matrix, using two categories of wavelets functions, Biorthogonal (bior2.2) and Orthogonal (db4) wavelets.  The far-field scattering patterns and the comparison between wavelets transformation and wavelet packet transformation in term number of zeros in impedance matrix and CPU Time reduction are presented. Numerical results are presented to identify which technique is best suited to solve such scattering electromagnetic problems and compared with published results.
