Individuals tend to have divergent moral judgment when judging oneself versus others, which is termed moral hypocrisy. While prior research has examined different factors that might influence moral hypocrisy, there are limited insights on the influences of different, discrete emotions. The present research seeks to address this gap and examines the differential influences of pride and gratitude on moral hypocrisy. Results of a pilot study and three main studies demonstrate that pride (but not gratitude) leads to moral hypocrisy. These effects are replicated across different cases of questionable behaviors and prosocial behaviors in a team setting. More importantly, this research identifies one mechanism that potentially explains this effect—the appraisal of self-other similarity. The findings of this research thus provide empirical evidence that distinct emotions arising from an organizational setting can differentially influence moral hypocrisy and offer practical implications. AbstractAcute severe ulcerative colitis is a medical emergency that warrants in-patient management. This is best served within a multidisciplinary team setting in specialised centres or with expert consultation. Intravenous corticosteroids remain the cornerstone in the management of ASUC and should be initiated promptly, along with general management measures and close monitoring of patients. Unfortunately, one-third of patients will fail to respond to steroids. Response to intravenous corticosteroid therapy needs to be assessed on the third day and rescue therapies, including cyclosporine and infliximab, should be offered to patients not responding. Choice of rescue therapy depends on experience, drug availability and factors associated with each individual patient, such as comorbidities, previous medications or contra-indications to therapy. Patients who have not responded within 7 days to rescue therapy must be considered for surgery. Surgery is a treatment option in ASUC and should not be delayed in cases of failure of medical therapy, because such delays increase surgical morbidity and mortality. This review summarises the current management of acute severe ulcerative colitis and discusses potential future developments.

Background: The use of telehealth has increased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As sports at all levels resume, sports medicine physicians may be interested in how telehealth can be used for concussion care. Questions/Purpose: We sought to assess how telehealth has been used in the baseline testing, diagnosis, and/or management of concussion. Secondarily, we sought to assess the strengths and weaknesses of telehealth for concussion care and identify aspects of concussion care for which telehealth has not yet been studied. Methods: A systematic review was performed in September 2020 of PubMed and Embase using the following terms: concuss*, “mild traumatic brain,” “head injur*,” telehealth, telemedicine, telecare, “mobile health,” m-health, virtual. Studies included were original research articles investigating the use of telehealth in the care of concussion (including baseline testing, diagnosis, and management), published in English, and had full text available. Results: A total of 356 articles were screened, of which 5 were determined to meet inclusion criteria. These articles described the use of telehealth for managing concussion in military and rural settings. No articles involved the use of telehealth for baseline concussion testing of athletes or for sideline evaluation. Conclusion: Despite the limited original research on the use of telehealth for concussion care, the articles identified provide a foundation for exploring the potential value of telehealth in the office practice and sports team setting. Telehealth may expand the ability of a sports medicine physician to provide timely and effective concussion care to athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. More rigorous research is needed.

A 38-year-old male patient presented to the ear, nose and throat department with shortness of breath over last 2 months. The CT scan of the neck and chest revealed a 3.3×3 cm tumour behind the right thyroid lobe extending into the tracheo-oesophageal (TO) groove with tracheal compression. The ultrasound scan of the neck and targeted fine needle aspiration followed by core biopsy raised a suspicion of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The patient underwent a right hemithyroidectomy and incisional biopsy of the right TO groove tumour. The histology confirmed a Hasenclever’s three nodular sclerosing Hodgkin’s lymphoma for which he received adjuvant chemotherapy. An incidental pT1a pN0 thyroid papillary microcarcinoma in the adjacent thyroid parenchyma was completely excised. This represents a case of TO Hodgkin’s lymphoma, of which there are no current published case reports. We aim to raise awareness about this rare condition by sharing the diagnostic work up and successful management in a multidisciplinary team setting.

Systemic connective tissue diseases (CTDs) are characterised by the presence of autoantibodies and multiorgan involvement. Although CTDs are rare in children, they are associated with pulmonary complications, which have a high morbidity and mortality rate. The exact pathophysiology remains unclear. The pleuropulmonary complications in CTD are diverse in their manifestations and are often complex to diagnose and manage. The most common CTDs are discussed. These include juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus, juvenile dermatomyositis, juvenile systemic sclerosis, Sjögren's syndrome and mixed connective tissue disease. We describe the clinical features of the pleuropulmonary complications, focusing on their screening, diagnosis and monitoring. Treatment strategies are also discussed, highlighting the factors and interventions that influence the outcome of lung disease in CTD and pulmonary complications of treatment.Early detection and prompt treatment in a multidisciplinary team setting, including respiratory and rheumatology paediatricians and radiologists, is paramount in achieving the best possible outcomes for these patients.

The purpose of this research study was to establish the benefits of off-season training among teenage basketball players. The goal of every school basketball team is to achieve the best outcomes possible among its athletes; hence, the study intends to investigate the possible outcomes of off-season training on a junior level basketball team setting. In this regard, 40 youth participants aged between 14 and 18 years were selected from their respective school basketball teams to voluntarily take part in the off-season training program. For the sample, anthropometric measures such as weight or height were not taken into account. A quantitative research design was used in which 20 participants were assigned to the control group and 20 remaining participants were assigned to the test group. The focus was to establish the development of athletes’ rebounding, passing, scoring, and dribbling skills at the end of the off-season training. The descriptive statistics of the study entailing the mean, standard deviation, sample variance, skewness, and confidence interval indicated a significant improvement in the dribbling, scoring, passing, and rebounding skills in the test group, whereas there was a significant drop in the same skills observed in the control group. The correlation analysis in the pretest assessment had values of (r = 0.17), (r = 0.5), (r = -0.5), and (r = 0.28) and posttest assessment had values of (r = -0.76), (r = -0.58), (r = -0.47), and (r = -0.99) in dribbling, scoring, passing, and rebounding, respectively. Thus, this indicates that off-season training is a positive predictor of better performance among teenage basketball players.

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide. The current COVID-19 pandemic represents an unprecedented challenge leading to care disruption, which is more severe in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) due to existing economic obstacles. This review presents the global perspective and preparedness plans for breast cancer continuum of care amid the COVID-19 outbreak and discusses challenges faced by LMIC in implementing these strategies. Prioritization and triage of breast cancer patients in a multidisciplinary team setting are of paramount importance. Deescalation of systemic and radiation therapy can be utilized safely in selected clinical scenarios. The presence of a framework and resource-adapted recommendations exploiting available evidence-based data with judicious personalized use of current resources is essential for breast cancer care in LMIC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
