Music offers a useful opportunity to consider the factors contributing to the experience of curiosity in the context of dynamically changing stimuli. Here, we tested the hypothesis that the perception of change in music triggers curiosity as to how the heard music will unfold. Participants were presented with unfamiliar musical excerpts and asked to provide continuous ratings of their subjective experience of curiosity and calm, and their perception of change, as the music unfolded. As hypothesized, we found that for all musical pieces, the perceptual experience of change Granger-caused feelings of curiosity but not feelings of calm. Our results suggest music is a powerful tool with which to examine the factors contributing to curiosity induction. Accordingly, we outline ways in which extensions to the approach taken here may be useful: both in elucidating our information-seeking drive more generally, and in elucidating the manifestation of this drive during music listening.

The Covid-19 Pandemic effects invites us to reflect and rethink of our model of welfare state. What type of welfare model? The content of this contribution is to suggest a different point of view on welfare, through a supportive, generative and pedagogical approach, renewed attention on inequalities from a prospective of inclusion, sustainability and care of human beings. Forced isolation induced by COVID-19 pandemic dramatically impacted individuals' well-being, isolation, pain, loneliness and shock has raised awareness of the essential values both on men and women, the importance of inclusiveness and pedagogical generativity. It can be said that this was in some ways a spiritual experience, helpful in rediscovering humanity in man, which recalled that ex malo bonum, good can come from something bad, but, as St. Augustine himself argued: bad moments can bring out the good "if you work on it", consciously. It is by working exactly on this awareness, without refusing this intense emotional experience of change, that can be found the pedagogical transformative space and the role of educational relations and of the educator in the welfare system; a new idea of ​​governance of capacities, an opportunity for the development of a welfare society for the well-being of individuals and Communities.

Abstract Background Academic studies place high demands on the development of learning capacities. Beyond learning techniques, knowledge about the effect of the learning environment, as well as the ability for self-regulation, self-determination and self-care play a major role in the development of learning skills. A longitudinal learning workshop was developed aiming to support academic learning life. The study at hand describes and evaluates this intervention. Methods Students participated in a seven-week program fostering reflection and training on physical, physiological, psychological and mental dimensions of learning. Fifty evaluations of medical students reflecting the workshop underwent qualitative analysis of open-ended questions concerning changes students experienced in their learning life. In addition, general satisfaction was measured quantitatively. Results Qualitative results revealed an impact on five core dimensions of students´ learning life: knowledge gained about the process of learning, enhanced awareness of intrapersonal learning processes, getting easier into action, experience of change and raised skills of regulating one´s learning behavior. Students evaluate the workshop as helpful, supportive and as a source of guidance. Quantitative results demonstrated good overall satisfaction with the intervention. Conclusions Educating knowledge about learning how to learn and providing skill training of how to regulate physiology, psychology and mentality should be taken into account in order to support the multidimensional learning life of students. Using a holistic, anthropologically grounded approach could be considered to enhance healthy, meaningful and efficient ways of learning. This learning workshop seems to be a useful and transferable tool to support students’ development of learning capacities.

The present study was designed to explore the effects of a one-year coach education program on coaches’ perceptions of their communication skills and co-orientation of their coach-athlete relationships. The study was designed with an experimental group and a control group. The experiment group consisted of 66 coaches (and 295 athletes) who received formal mentoring and the control group consisted of 41 coaches (and 148 athletes) who did not receive any mentoring. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling with autoregressive cross-lagged analysis. Results from the self-reported questionnaire at pre-test and post-test showed that the reciprocity of the coach-athlete relationships was not statistically significant. However, coaches’ experience of change in attention skills from the pre-test to the post-test positively predicted changes in their own perception of the coach-athlete relationship, whereas this association was not significant in the athletes’ perceptions. Moreover, the coach education programme increased coaches’ perception of their relational bonds with their athletes, but this increase did not correspond with an increase in athletes’ perception of the relational bonds with their coach. Practical implications and suggestions for further research are discussed in light of these findings.

PurposeThis paper explores how leaders identify their roles and selves when they lead change in a dynamic organizational context.Design/methodology/approachUsing a qualitative approach, ten ICT leaders participated in semi-structured interviews depicting their experiences of change. A thematic method of interpretative analysis was used to develop findings, supported by Theory U as a conceptual tool for leadership self-awareness.FindingsLeaders struggle with organizational constraints and boundaries, specifically the complexities that form and limit their leadership underpinned by unrealistic expectations due to the construction of romanticized heroic leadership. While these restrictions lead to feelings of detachment of leaders from their organizations, leadership development exists in the acts of letting go of old behaviors, and welcoming emergence and experimentation by trusting more.Research limitations/implicationsThis study may be limited by its small sample and the use of one framework to make sense of the leaders' experience of change. It confirms that change can challenge organizing norms and how leadership is identified.Practical implicationsDespite the feeling of detachment from their organizations, developing greater self-awareness, being open to new ideas and trusting more can bring about better organizational outcomes, which is represented with Theory O as a contribution both for theory and practice.Originality/valueThis study illustrates (1) leaders' inner work or personal experience of change, and (2) how improvement of self-awareness can contribute to the involvement of leaders to the change process. Based on self-awareness, trust and feedback relationship, this study suggests a new practical and conceptual tool called Theory O by advancing Theory U.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore how managers’ prior experiences as recipients of change influence the organizational changes they then go on to make in their management role. Design/methodology/approach The study looks at the frequency and total amount of changes using data from Japanese professional baseball teams over the period 1936-2003, using the replacement of core players from year to year in each team as a measure of change. It uses only data from the managers' first post in that role. Findings The results showed that organizational change is significantly and positively related to the amount of the change managers’ prior experiences as recipients of change but not to the frequency of change. Manager turnover, performance pressure and DH dummy were all significantly and positively related to organizational change, and managers’ tenure negatively related. Research limitations/implications The types of change processes experienced by managers may also be relevant, and it is likely to be important to investigate the timing of exposure to change as recipients, whether early after an individual joins an organization or some considerable time after they do so. Also, the particular power relationships between managers and employees may affect their capacity to promote change effectively. It would also be illuminating to replicate this kind of research in different, non-sporting contexts to explore whether or not these findings can be of general significance. Practical implications When organizations seek to appoint new managers, they should consider carefully their previous experience of change as recipients. These experiences may have an unconscious impact on change capacity. Because they may be unconscious the management candidates may not mention such experiences at interview, for example, unless specifically questioned about any such experiences. Similarly, they may not mention this in their CV or application unless specifically asked to do so. Considering the amount of change in their prior experience may be more important than the frequency of change which may or may not be important. Originality/value The study explores managers’ prior experiences as recipients of change. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study to analyse the impact of experiences prior to taking up a management post on their subsequent implementation of organizational change as managers. Previous studies investigated managers’ experience after their appointment and its impact on their implementation of change. In contrast the present study focuses on their experiences as recipients of organizational change and how it impacts on their behaviour as managers.

Abstract My paper will explore the interrelation between past, present and identity, as well as the dynamics of social change in contemporary German and Romanian literature, as exemplified by Jana Hensel’s Zonenkinder (2002) and Ioana Bradea’s Scotch (2010). Both authors belong to a new generation of writers who, having experienced the collapse of the communist regime as adolescents, investigate the traumatic experience of change and adjustment to the social, economic and cultural realities of post-communist societies. While Hensel aims at recreating the lost Heimat (motherland) as an Erinnerungsraum (space of remembrance) and portraying the social tensions of the post-unification decade from an Eastern German perspective, Bradea focuses on depicting the desolate post-communist industrial landscape, as well as the everyday lives of anonymous Romanians caught in the vagaries of transition.

The aim of this research was to obtain to get adaptive MSCs by an treatment in hypoxia precondition in viro culture. Ini this research, hypoxia precondition was to be given 3% O2 concentration and compared to those of normoxia culture in O2 > 20%. Results showed that under 3% O2 concentration, CD105+ and CD45- by flowcytometri, immunocytokimia and immunofluorescence didn’t experience of change (undifferentiated). Meanwhile under > 20% O2 concentration, cells have experienced of change (not undifferentiated again), that was indicated with CD105+ become decrease and CD45- increase by flowcytometri, immunocytokimia and immunofluorescence. Conclusion, in this research showed that hypoxia precondition with 3% O2 concentration very support MSCs to constantly adaptive before transplantated for disturbance of spermatogenesis process, because did’nt experience become progenitor cells was not expectation (still undifferentiated).
