AbstractVideo-monitoring has become in the last decades common practice for animal observation and conservation purposes. In Ornithology, it is mostly used for tracking predators and nest surveillance, but, with the rapid development and spreading of webcams on nests for educational purposes, new opportunities arise for behavioral investigation, through citizen science for instance. In this article, we use video-monitoring from a public webcam on a White stork (Ciconia ciconia) nest and perform systematic image analysis to record the positioning and orientation of the guarding parent on the nest, during the nestling period over 60 days. From this data of 450 orientation samples, correlations with weather parameters are drawn. Our results suggest that the sun is responsible for most of the orientation with an hourly dependence, while the wind has prevalence during rainy days. A change in the parent behavior is also observed around the time the nestlings are known to attain their maximal weight. These preliminary findings provide new insights on weather influence on parental care behavior likely linked with the parent’s sensing. The versatility of the proposed method allows for behavioral studies on a wide variety of species.

Purpose: To research the frequency of acute alcohol intoxications among young people of age 10-18 in Varna region within the time frame 2015-2017 and to examine the correspondent parent behavior. Material/Methods: A total of 159 adolescents were examined. All of them were registered patients of the Clinic for Intensive Treatment of Acute Intoxications and Toxicoallergies at the Naval Hospital – Varna. Alcohol dependence was studied by means of CAGE test. The evaluation of the parent behavior was done in accordance with Robert's methodology and involved 54 parents. Results: It was demonstrated that the initial alcohol consumption age is very low, approximately 10-11. Acute alcohol intoxications among young people vary from year to year, but such cases were estimated to represent 12-19% of all registered alcohol intoxications in the region studied. Most abused beverage types are spirits and beer; wine is less preferred. The analysis of the parent behavior shows a definite underestimation of the problem in both sociological consequences and health risks directions.

Emotion understanding develops intensively in preschool and junior school. Although the parent/family environment has been shown to affect the development of emotion understanding in children, very little research has examined examined how parents’ view upbringing and education and how they are related to their child’s emotion understanding, given that the intuitive theories of parenting are reflected in actual parent behavior. This study fills this gap in the literature and examines the links between children’s ability to understand emotions and their parents’ intuitive theories of parenting. The sample was 171 5- to 6-year-old children and their parents. Analyses revealed a significant relation between intuitive theories of parenting and children’s emotion understanding. In particular, the intuitive attitude of uninvolved parenting was associated with the understanding of mental causes of emotions and the overall level of emotion understanding in preschool children. Integrating these results will allow us to reach more informed conclusions about the role of parental beliefs in the development of emotion comprehension in preschool children.

The pernicious consequences of parent psychological control are well-established. Parenting style classification schemes, however, typically exclude this behavioral practice, focusing instead on demandingness and responsiveness. The present study applies a person-oriented approach to the classification of parenting styles, taking into account psychological control. Lithuanian adolescents (239 girls, 215 boys; M age = 15.14 at the outset) completed questionnaires at annual intervals across high school, describing parent behavioral control, support, and psychological control. Longitudinal multidimensional latent class growth analysis (LCGA) yielded four parenting style categories. Two conventional groups emerged: authoritative (highest behavioral control and support, lowest psychological control) and indulgent (high support, low behavioral control, lowest psychological control). Two additional groups emerged in lieu of an authoritarian category: enmeshed (high behavioral control and psychological control, intermediate support) and affectively controlling (highest psychological control, lowest behavioral control and support). Children of authoritative parents reported favorable adjustment on a host of indicators, including behavior problems, school engagement, character, self-esteem and interpersonal caring and connection; children of affectively controlling parents reported the poorest adjustment on all variables measured.

The study attempts to find out the relation between parental attitude as perceived by adolescents in the dimensions of autonomy, firm control and psychological control to their healthy personality. The healthy personality is measured in terms of several distinct variables. From this the predictors of healthy personality from parental attitudes is derived. The sample selected were 129 adolescents pursuing under graduation in various colleges in the district of Trivandrum, Kerala state. The questionnaires used were CRPBI (Child’s Report of Parent Behavior Inventory) and Healthy Personality questionnaire. Results revealed that the three dimensions of parenting studied have a significant relation to healthy personality of adolescents.

Parents' active participation in the diagnostic and therapeutic process of children with developmental disorders is considered by experts to be an important factor in the long-term struggle to educate people with autism. According to relevant bibliographical references, the benefits of parental education have been proven for decades. Researchers [1], [2] underline the positive outcomes of parent behavior training programs for children with developmental disabilities. Surveys conducted to date show that results show parents can implement the strategies they have recently learned and are generally very pleased with parent's education programs. However, findings related to children's communication and socioemotional skills, parent-child interactions were unclear [3].
