AbstractWe report on a measurement of Spin Density Matrix Elements (SDMEs) in hard exclusive $$\omega $$ ω meson muoproduction on the proton at COMPASS using 160 GeV/c polarised $$ \mu ^{+}$$ μ + and $$ \mu ^{-}$$ μ - beams impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. The measurement covers the range 5.0 GeV/$$c^2$$ c 2 $$< W<$$ < W < 17.0 GeV/$$c^2$$ c 2 , with the average kinematics $$\langle Q^{2} \rangle =$$ ⟨ Q 2 ⟩ = 2.1 (GeV/c)$$^2$$ 2 , $$\langle W \rangle = 7.6$$ ⟨ W ⟩ = 7.6  GeV/$$c^2$$ c 2 , and $$\langle p^{2}_{\mathrm{T}} \rangle = 0.16$$ ⟨ p T 2 ⟩ = 0.16  (GeV/c)$$^2$$ 2 . Here, $$Q^2$$ Q 2 denotes the virtuality of the exchanged photon, W the mass of the final hadronic system and $$p_T$$ p T the transverse momentum of the $$\omega $$ ω meson with respect to the virtual-photon direction. The measured non-zero SDMEs for the transitions of transversely polarised virtual photons to longitudinally polarised vector mesons ($$\gamma ^*_T \rightarrow V_L$$ γ T ∗ → V L ) indicate a violation of s-channel helicity conservation. Additionally, we observe a sizeable contribution of unnatural-parity-exchange (UPE) transitions that decreases with increasing W. The results provide important input for modelling Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs). In particular, they may allow to evaluate in a model-dependent way the contribution of UPE transitions and assess the role of parton helicity-flip GPDs in exclusive $$\omega $$ ω production.

An experimental program has been approved at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility to measure the (ep,e’K+)Y reactions using the CLAS12 setup in Hall B. Data have been obtained using a 7.5 GeV electron beam, impinging upon a liquid hydrogen target in the CLAS12 center. Scattered electrons have been detected in an angle range of 2.5° to 4.5° by the Forward Tagger (FT) and at angles greater than 5° in the CLAS12 Forward Detector, allowing to measure the KY electroproduction differential cross section and to probe the Q2 evolution of the N* resonances electrocouplings in the Q2 range from 0.05 GeV2 to 3 GeV2. The study of the Q2 dependence of the electrocouplings will provide a crucial tool to investigate the possible hybrid nature of the N* resonances. Preliminary results from CLAS12 data are compared with simulated data using a realistic Gent Regge plus resonance event generator

The SRC/BM@N experiment was carried out in the 55th run of the Nuclotron using a liquid hydrogen target and a carbon beam with a kinetic energy of about 3.1 GeV/n. We propose to analyze the experimental data to search for a quasi-bound state of η-meson and nucleons in the reaction 12C+p → η(A-1)+X → π+p+(A-2). To achieve this goal, it is necessary to identify the residual nucleus (A-2) and the proton-pion pair formed from η-nuclei decay.

Theoretical and experimental studies of neutron-rich nuclei have shown that the general concept of shell structure is not as robust and universal as earlier thought, but can exhibit significant changes as a function of neutron excess. New magic numbers appear and some other conventional ones disappear mainly because of a different ordering of the single-particle orbitals. In the present contribution, recent experimental studies of neutron-rich Cu isotopes, performed at RIKEN using β decay and one-proton knockout reactions, will be discussed. Neutron-rich nuclei near 78Ni were populated through in-flight fission of 238U on thick 9Be targets in both experiments. In the β-decay study, 75,77Ni nuclei were implanted into the WAS3ABi silicon array, while γ rays from excited states in 75,77Cu emitted after β decay of the implanted ions were detected with the EURICA Ge detector array that was surrounding the active stopper. In a second experiment within the SEASTAR campaign at RIKEN, the same 75,77Cu nuclei were produced in (p,2p) knockout reactions from 76,78Zn beam particles at around 250 MeV/nucleon impinging onto the MINOS liquid hydrogen target. In the latter experiment the DALI2 NaI array was used to detect de-excitation γ rays measured in coincidence with Cu nuclei identified in the Zero Degree Spectrometer. Both studies are complimentary and greatly contribute to our understanding on the nuclear structure in the 78Ni region.

A quite simple procedure for the generation of a polarized antiproton beam could be worked out if antiprotons are produced with some polarization. In order to investigate this possibility measurements of the polarization of produced antiprotons have been started at a CERN/PS test beam. The polarization will be determined from the asymmetry of the elastic antiproton scattering at a liquid hydrogen target in the CNI region for which the analyzing power is well known. The data are under analysis and an additional measurement is done in 2018. Details on the experiment and the ongoing data analysis will be given.

COMPASS collaboration has started in 2012 a five-year program of new measurements, which are outlined in the 'COMPASS-II' proposal. The two new major projects of the proposal are measurements of polarized Drell-Yan process in π- scattering off transversely polarized protons and studies of GPDs via measurements of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering and Hard Exclusive Meson Production in muon scattering off a liquid hydrogen target. In addition, high statistics SIDSI measurements with muon beams and a study of charged pion and kaon polarizabilities via Primakoff reactions with hadron beams are also foreseen as a part of this program.
