With the development of urban-rural integration in China, the functional value of homestead bases has evolved from a single residential security value to a multiple composite values, and the property income of homestead bases has gradually become the value driver of transfer and the intrinsic demand of farm households. This paper takes Baitafan of Jinzhai County, Chongqing City, and Xiaofang Yu Village of Ji County as examples for in-depth discussion, and finds that the dominant value drivers of home base transfer mainly include three kinds: capitalization income, commercialization income, and non-farm employment income. The study concludes that it is important to give full play to the resource endowment effect and identify the dominant value of home base transfer according to local conditions to promote the standardized home base transfer and implement the rural revitalization strategy.

This paper presents an analysis of 200 memes about content subscription platform OnlyFans to discover that the platform imaginary is of heterosexual women posting adult, or Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content. This platform imaginary contrasts with OnlyFans' corporate communication, which insists that OnlyFans is for influencers of all kinds. This challenges the platform imaginary, revealing two main strategies for this emerging platform. First, that it would like to be known as a broader platform than just for NSFW content creators – despite the platform imaginary that sets up an expectation of seeing nude and lewd content. Second, that OnlyFans is not a “home base” or core platform from which to create a profile and make connections. OnlyFans does not act as an independent social media platform, but as one of many layers.

The paper investigates the rapid, FDI-driven expansion of the electronics industry in the V4 countries from the second half of the nineties through their inclusion into the global value chains of East-Asian lead firms with their home base in countries, such as in Korea, Taiwan or Singapore and China. The paper analyses opportunities for upgrading of East-Asian manufacturing subsidiaries and their local suppliers in the V4 region towards higher value-added activities, and the level of the subsidiaries’ embeddedness after 30 years of their appearance as well as their impact on trade relations between East – Asia and the V4.

This chapter narrates the performances of the Nicholas Kids/Nicholas Brothers in various contexts including Pie, Pie, Blackbird, a Vitaphone short subject film featuring Eubie Blake and his jazz orchestra, and the twenty-first edition of the Cotton Club Parade with Cab Calloway and His Cotton Club Orchestra. The Cotton Club became home base for the Nicholases, despite the strict segregation of the races (all performers black, clientele white) and afforded them the opportunity to hone their musical routines under the auspices of Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington’s bands.

BackgroundUS military service members have characteristically poor sleep, even when ‘in garrison’ or at one’s home base. The physical sleeping environment, which is often poor in military-provided housing or barracks, may contribute to poor sleep quality in soldiers. The current study aimed to assess whether the sleeping environment in garrison is related to sleep quality, insomnia risk and military readiness.MethodsSeventy-four US army special operations soldiers participated in a cross-sectional study. Soldiers were queried on their sleeping surface comfort and the frequency of being awakened at night by excess light, abnormal temperatures and noise. Subjective sleep quality and insomnia symptoms were also queried, via the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Insomnia Severity Index, respectively. Lastly, measures of soldier readiness, including morale, motivation, fatigue, mood and bodily pain, were assessed.ResultsSoldiers reporting temperature-related and light-related awakenings had poorer sleep quality higher fatigue and higher bodily pain than soldiers without those disturbances. Lower ratings of sleeping surface comfort were associated with poorer sleep quality and lower motivation, lower morale, higher fatigue and higher bodily pain. Each 1-point increase in sleeping surface comfort decreased the risk for a positive insomnia screen by 38.3%, and the presence of temperature-related awakenings increased risk for a positive insomnia screen by 78.4%. Those living on base had a poorer sleeping environment than those living off base.ConclusionOptimising the sleep environment—particularly in on-base, military-provided housing—may improve soldier sleep quality, and readiness metrics. Providers treating insomnia in soldiers should rule out environment-related sleep disturbances prior to beginning more resource-intensive treatment.

Abstract The complete inventory of regulatory factors in human spliceosomes remains unknown, and many flexibly bound components are not revealed in present spliceosome structures. The intrinsically unstructured C9ORF78 protein was detected in C complex spliceosomes but is not contained in present spliceosome structures. We found a tight interaction between C9ORF78 and the key spliceosome remodeling factor, BRR2, in a large-scale yeast two-hybrid screen, validated by targeted in vitro assays. Affinity purification/mass spectrometry and RNA UV-crosslinking analyses identified several additional C9ORF78 interactors in spliceosomes. High-resolution cryogenic electron microscopy structures revealed how C9ORF78 and the spliceosomal B complex protein FBP21 wrap around the C-terminal helicase cassette of BRR2 in a mutually exclusive manner. Knock-down of C9ORF78 led to global alternative splicing changes, including a substantial usage of alternative NAGNAG 3’-splice sites, at least in part dependent on BRR2. Comparison of our structure to C* complex spliceosomes shows that C9ORF78 could contact several detected interactors from its BRR2 “home base”, in particular the RNA helicase PRPF22, a suggested 3’-splice site regulator. Together our data firmly establish C9ORF78 as a novel, late-stage splicing regulatory protein that takes advantage of a multi-factor trafficking site on BRR2, providing one explanation for the suggested, but puzzling, roles of BRR2 during splicing catalysis and alternative splicing.
