Significance Recent trends in the government’s official count of COVID-19 cases in the months following the United Kingdom’s decision to place Egypt on a travel-restricting 'red list' suggest the true extent of the crisis in Egypt remains under-reported. Impacts Relying on Cairo’s official COVID-19 data will be misleading. The government favours economic recovery, so businesses and investors are not likely to face major pandemic-related setbacks. Travellers outside resort towns will be at high risk of COVID-19 exposure due to low enforcement of precautions and vaccine rates.

In the decades after World War II, a subculture of beach music emerged in segregated, Jim Crw coastal resort towns in North and South Carolina, when vacationing white kids would sneak across the tracks to the nightclubs in the “colored” parts of town to listen to R&B songs from jukeboxes and deejays. A style of dance called “shagging” emerged to go with it, and those kids took it off to college, where a generation of R&B bands including The Drifters, The Coasters, “5” Royales and many others played the campus frat-house circuit. When those white kids started forming bands, too, The Embers emerged as the greatest of the latterday beach bands.

The article discusses cadastral land valuation in Russian resort towns, a procedure flawed by the fact that it does not take into account territorial prestige. Researchers in Russia and other countries state that it is essential to redistribute the land tax burden as the current situation creates tax injustice, which is reflected in the undervaluation of prestigious areas and the overvaluation of non-prestigious ones in resort towns. Competition for the most prestigious areas in such towns mainly stems from the opportunity for landowners to earn higher rental incomes during the high season. In view of this, the study aims to provide a method for cadastral land valuation in resort towns based on zoning by prestige. The application of the proposed method is demonstrated using the town of Anapa (a Russian resort town by the Black Sea) as a case study. The method is based on several research and analysis methods, including the following: the analytical method, which is used for a preliminary analysis of urban areas to identify the most attractive parts of resort towns; a modification of Saaty’s methodology combined with Pareto analysis, which is used to identify criteria for assessing how prestigious and important a part of the town is; cluster analysis, which is used for ranking areas in resort towns; correlation and regression analysis, which is used for land valuation modelling. The article describes the key criteria for ranking areas in resort towns by prestige, gives a definition of prestige applied to resort town districts, and proposes an equation for calculating the integral indicator of prestige and a method for assessing prestige. The validity of the prestige map that was created for the town of Anapa was proved by analyzing the average market prices for land plots located within the identified zones. The cadastral land valuation models describing land plots in Anapa that are intended for private housing construction can be correctly interpreted and are of acceptable quality.

This article is considered to be the first attempt to examine the problem of HIV/AIDS spreading in detailed. The status, structure, dynamics and “geography” of the infection spreading as well as psychological mechanism of the relations between AIDS spreading in antisocial, immoral behaviour and crime are investigated in the article. The spread of AIDS in Ukraine is to some extent explained by the following points: AIDS are more urban than rural; the spread of AIDS is closely related to the life of resort towns, which characterises the development of a “leisure industry” and increases the influx of the immoral contingent. There are a lot of people in these regions who are not engaged in socially useful activities and who easily come in contact with visitors for the purpose of enrichment by their expense.

Abstract. The appearance of the resort towns of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, formed during the 19th - 20th centuries, was determined by remarkable monuments of architecture and landscape architecture, dating back to the traditions and forms of ancient Greece and Rome. Rational, respectable and aesthetic order forms of Classicism determined its wide typological applicability and during the 19th-20th centuries they continued to form significant urban planning and park ensembles. When creating resort facilities, architectural monuments of antiquity are models for studying, repeating and interpreting the methods of organic inclusion in the natural environment. The article examines the importance of ancient forms in the process of formation of the cities of the Caucasian Mineral Waters resort. A full-scale survey of two objects selected for study, typologically and stylistically different, was carried out – the architectural structure of the mud baths in the city of Essentuki and the monument of landscape art – the park's Main Staircase of the sanatorium named after S. Ordzhonikidze. Literary sources were studied, landscape-visual and compositional analysis of objects was carried out. The first object – a mud bath in the city of Essentuki – a medical building, one of the most famous architectural monuments of the city of the eclectic period, was built according to the project of the architect Eugene Shretter. The second object is the famous Main Staircase of the sanatorium named after S. Ordzhonikidze in the city of Kislovodsk, built by the architect – constructivist Ivan Leonidov, is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance – a monument of urban planning and architecture. The analysis showed that ancient forms successfully pass the test of time, change of political systems and social conditions, are able to transform plastically and functionally under the influence of stylistic changes and today retain their attractiveness and relevance.

The results of longterm environmental monitoring of water used for household and drinking purposes of the resort towns of the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody are presented. The characteristics of river and spring waters are given. The degree and form of their pollution and physiological usefulness are estimated. The causes of pollution of water bodies with heavy metals, oil products, nitrogencontaining compounds are analyzed. The data on the noncompliance of the chemical and microbiological composition of the water being studied with the requirements of regulatory documents is presented. The main factors affecting the pollution of water resources in the region are identified. Direct and indirect problems associated with the water supply of resorts are considered. Recommendations on improving the quality indicators of a number of water sources are given. The monitoring results obtained indicate that the quality of the water used in the resort cities of the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody for water supply only partially meets the requirements to the safety, physiological usefulness and organoleptic properties. Consumption of spring water can lead to serious health problems since almost everywhere this water contains: Hg, As, Ba, Pb, Se, Sr, Al, NO2, phosphates, oil products, in concentrations that exceed the MPCs. Microbiological and parasitological standards are significantly exceeded. Analysis of the data of the longterm environmental monitoring allows stating that the situation with water resources in the resort cities of the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody is close to critical.
